Here's Jonny! Bairstow seizes on a wide delivery from Anrich Nortje and cracks the ball through the off side for four.
Lovely shot. That has livened the crowd up.

Jonny Bairstow doesn't mind coming in in a crisis. He's done well this summer and he's got it all to do here.
Trail by 90
An all-run four! Jonny Bairstow pulls into a yawning gap towards a widish long-on.
The ball is clawed back just before the rope but England had scampered through for four anyway.
Welcome, welcome runs for England.
The sun is indeed out, Lord's is looking an absolute picture, soundtracked by that familiar post-lunch hum.
Just the single from that Keshav Maharaj over. He is 2-20 from eight overs so far.

We should be here tomorrow, the sun is out, we're at Lord's. It just needs a bit of application from England.

No looseners needed from Anrich Nortje who is up to 90mph from the off.
Alex Lees plays a shot off his hip that momentarily excites short leg but squirts into a gap in the on side and England run two.
Lees then attempts a pull but the ball is onto him quickly and ends up smacking on the thigh pad.
Ouch.

Mike McMahon: If Crawley’s coming out the side I’d be putting Sibley in. Out of all the batsmen we’ve had recently he’s the one that occupies the crease the longest. Get the ball old, bowlers tired and try to build a base, then you can play the attacking way later on…
Charlie Rhodes: This would be a cracking time for Lees’ first Test ton!
No pair for Jonny Bairstow, he pushes one into the on side off Keshav Maharaj for a single.
A small win.
Here's the first change of the afternoon session. Here's Anrich Nortje who looks, to put it mildly, up for it.

Big trouble for England here. They've got themselves out of a few scrapes this year but WinViz has South Africa at 88%, the draw at 1% and England at 11%. That seems a fair reflection.

Joe Gibney: Those planning to watch England cricket this weekend will soon be checking local fixtures in the FA Cup Preliminary Round for their live sport instead.
South Africa are understandably buzzing. There's oohs and aahs with every delivery.
A pumped up Lungi Ngidi gets one to rise on Jonny Bairstow, who just about manages to fend it off with his gloves.
It looks tough out there.

Ngidi has got his rhythm compared to the first innings. That was the in-nipper and it was close.
My oh my, that was close.
Jonny Bairstow shoulders arms to Lungi Ngidi's first delivery but the ball jags back in and misses the top of the stumps by millimetres.

It is the first time Joe Root has been out for singles figures in both innings in a home Test for six years.

Jonny Bairstow was just doing a sudoku on the balcony, he's a numbers person and England need some numbers from him.

Root edges and is gone! It goes low to second slip. It was in the channel outside off stump and he just pushes at it. It did just shape away.
Root c Markram b Ngidi 6 (Eng 57-3)
Oh dear.
Lungi Ngidi gets one to move away from Joe Root who follows it and edges through to Aiden Markram, who takes a low but fairly straightforward catch in the slips.
England in deep trouble. Ngidi is absolutely delighted.

It's been a good 20 minutes for England, and also slightly surprising from Dean Elgar to bowl both of these guys, really.
