Now down to Tom Taylor - fine ball striker - with Lewis McManus to try and bring this home.

Ajeet Dale again at the Wilson End, bowling a hard length, just one off four.

Then some width but Taylor crashes only to extra-cover.

Northants 262-6 need 299 to beat Glos

Ajeet Dale with an over that concedes just two singles and a bye.

Back to Zafar Gohar and Josh Cobb takes him high over long-on and into the members' pavilion for six.

Lovely sweet strike to keep the rate under control.

But then he goes for another leg side slap and spoons it to short midwicket!

Why in the world didn't he just run another single and keep the strike?

    37 needed from 36 balls.

BBC Radio Newcastle at Sophia Gardens

Durham have faced some stubborn resistance from Glamorgan this afternoon after an intial wobbly start to their second innings. The hosts had been 66-4 at one point.

But Chris Cooke has been defiant and is now on 84. He also put a crucial partnership of 92 together for the fifth wicket with Kiran Carlson, who was out for 61 after clipping an attempted cut to the keeper off Matty Potts.

Durham had 84 overs at their disposal when Glamorgan began their second innings 149 behind. It took them until the 49th over to take the lead, but time is now running out for the visitors. There are effectively 19 overs left. It's gloomy and they can't put the lights on. And Glamorgan lead by 69 runs at 218-5.

    12 overs left, 75 needed.

Ryan Higgins has been at his miserly best, going for only 33 in his 19 overs so far.

Northants 208-4 need 299 to beat Glos

    Derbyshire (304 & 218-5) need 138 more runs to beat Middlesex (401 & 258-5 dec)

Tom Helm's spell of three wickets in quick succession has certainly taken a Derbyshire win off the table in this one.

Leus du Plooy and Anuj Dal playing a much more watchful role with the bat than what came before.

138 more to win off 22 overs but just five wickets remaining.

Can Middlesex force a late win?

  19. WARWICKSHIRE DRAW WITH SURREYpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Warks 531 v Surrey 428-8d & 43-0

With the last hour in sight, Warwickshire and Surrey shake on the draw.

Surrey will be annoyed they couldn't drill home their strong position, having had their opponents 41-4 replying to 428.

But centuries from Matt Lamb - his second first-class hundred - and Michael Burgess - a career-best 178 - ensured the Bears got out of danger.

The Edgbaston groundsman, Gary Barwell, responded unkindly to accusations that county pitches that nibble around for medium pacers do the England Test side no favours after the West Indies series.

He's proved here, perhaps a little too emphatically, that he's certainly not part of the problem.
