  1. Warwickshire leadpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Warks 433-9 v Surrey 428-8d

It doesn't matter that Warwickshire have taken the lead at Edgbaston.

What does, sort of, matter is whether Michael Burgess can reach his century.

    He's just seven runs away.

Ollie Hannon-Dalby has dutifully survived for 44 deliveries - without scoring - to give Burgess every chance.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Godleman c Eskinazi b Roland-Jones 38 (Derbyshire 106-2 - target 356)

    Second Derbyshire wicket falls.

Billy Godleman seemingly gets caught in two minds as he fends one to Stevie Eskinazi at first slip almost like when a coach does catching practice in the warm-ups.

Toby Roland-Jones with the wicket. Godleman falls for 38 off 96 balls.

Wayne Madsen comes out to join Brooke Guest with 57 overs still to bowl.

  3. Pennington strikes again for Pearspublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

100 up for Derbyshirepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Derbyshire (304 & 103-1) need 253 more runs to beat Middlesex (401 & 258-5 dec)

Derbyshire's scoring rate may well have dropped a touch since Shan Masood was out, but they are still ticking the board over.

Billy Godleman (35 not out) drives for four through the covers to take them past 100.

Brooke Guest (6 not out) still settling in at the other end.

  5. wicket

Emilio Gay c Bracey b Taylor 17published at 14:20 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

Northants 53-2 need 299 to beat Northants

Gloucestershire may still have victory ambitions of their own and they have a second wicket.

A second for Matt Taylor as well as he has Emilio Gay propping forward and caught at the wicket by one that holds its line.

  6. Durham keep up the pressure on Glammypublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Glamorgan (234 & 66-4) trail Durham (383) by 83 runs

Glamorgan four wickets down in their second innings now at Sophia Gardens and still some way behind making Durham bat again.

Notts edging closer to a win at Hove.

Ali Orr's patient 45 comes to an end after 161 balls as he is well caught at short leg by Ben Slater off Brett Hutton.

  8. 50 runs

up for Northantspublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

Northants 53-1 need 299 to beat Glos

A slow start to the afternoon for Northants, going along at two-an-over at the moment.

They have 56 more overs to score another 246 - so that asking rate that began at 3.6/over is now up to 4.3.

Keeping wickets in hand for the final session may be the task for this afternoon.

  9. Sussex lose a fourth after lunchpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Sussex (375 & 112-4) trail Nottinghamshire (534-9 dec) by 47 runs

Brett Hutton in the wickets again for Nottinghamshire as the pressure intensifies on Sussex.

Oli Carter is bowled for 12 on 97-4.

They have moved on to 112-4 now, but still trail by 47 runs and Danial Ibrahim will also be unable to bat for the hosts through injury.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Masood c Simpson b Bamber 62 (Derbyshire 81-1 - target 356)

Finally a breakthrough for Middlesex and the dangerous-looking Shan Masood falls.

John Simpson takes a tumbling catch down the legside off Ethan Bamber and departs for 62.

A chance for a century at Lord's missed you feel.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Cox c Critchley b Lawrence 129 (Essex 514 v Kent 475-6)

    LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

Yep, this is not a drill - a wicket has actually fallen at Chelmsford...

This match has long been consigned to the rubbish bin in terms of any chance of a result, but Jordan Cox has been dismissed by Dan Lawrence for 129.

Matt Critchley taking the catch at mid-wicket. 332 balls was how long Cox was at the crease for as Essex's long vigil in the field continues.

Almost time to resume for the afternoon sessions.

Are we going to see some games wrapped up before tea?

  15. 'Tense' stuff by the seasidepublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Sussex (375 & 89-3) trail Nottinghamshire (534-9 dec) by 70 runs

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex at Hove

A tense morning's cricket at Hove, where Notts are chipping away at the Sussex batting order.

Ali Orr the 21-year-old Sussex opener is showing the necessary defiance, his 38 not out has taken just over three hours and he’s faced 134 balls.

This is still a good pitch and although Notts only need another six wickets with Danial Ibrahim absent with a shoulder injury, there’s no reason why Sussex can’t bat out for a draw.

  17. Baker strikes again for Pears before lunchpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Leicestershire (213 & 82-5) need 288 more runs to beat Worcestershire (348 & 234-5 dec)

    Swindells outImage source, Rex Features

Three wickets in quick succession from Worcestershire slow left-armer Josh Baker have brought the visitors closer to victory.

Harry Swindells chops on to his stumps to depart for a duck and the Pears need just five more wickets for victory in the remaining two sessions.

  18. wicket

Ricardo Vasconcelos c Bracey b Taylor 26published at 13:06 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

Northants 34-1 need 299 to beat Glos

A big wicket on the stroke of lunch.

Ricardo Vasconcelos scored a career-best unbeaten 185 in Northants' chase over Glamorgan last summer.

He's looked very good here but to the penultimate ball of the session, pushed at Matt Taylor when he should have left alone and edged behind.

    Boost for Gloucestershire.

  19. Masood on song as Derbyshire start with promisepublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    Derbyshire (304 & 73-0) need 282 more runs to beat Middlesex (401 & 258-5 dec)

    Sam Dalling
    BBC Radio London at Lord's

Now then. Shan Masood is motoring along. True, there has been some riding of luck. But there have also been some sumptuous drives.

A second debut half-century for him, second fifty opening stand with Billy Godleman and the "runs to win column" is now well below 300.

Could it be one of the all-time great days for Derbyshire?

Only twice have they chased more; 365 against Nottinghamshire in 2020 and a famous one-wicket win over the touring Australians back in 1997.

Godleman is merrily playing second fiddle runs-wise, but has unwittingly been involved in what could be a key moment.

He pulled away as Tim Murtagh approached, the bowler pulled out of his run-up and in doing so - we think - pulled a muscle.

Whether pulled or tweaked, Murtagh limped off unable to complete his over. A return feels unlikely, a man with 901 first-class wickets will always be a miss.

If you're in the vicinity, get yourself to Lord's. Sun is out and a fascinating afternoon awaits.

  20. That's lunchpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 10 April 2022
