    Burns c Davies b C Overton 12 (Surrey 34-2 v Somerset 337)

Absolute brilliant by wicketkeeper Steven Davies, who dives full length in front of first slip to take a left-handed catch.

Rory Burns spends several seconds tapping the pitch with the end of his bat on a good length before walking off.

Not sure why - it was a good ball and not the greatest of strokes.

    Leicestershire 213 v Derbyshire 186-2

It was clearly an astute bit of business when Derbyshire head coach Mickey Arthur recruited Pakistan opener Shan Masood for this season.

The left-hander adds a 152-ball century to previous scores of 91, 62 and 239, with two runs off Will Davis.

Wayne Madsen has alsio reached 50 off 98 balls and these two have so far added 126 - following their 292-run stand against Sussex last week.

  3. D'Oliveira runs out of partnerspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex

The Worcestershire first innings comes to an end at New Road as Dillon Pennington is caught off Henry Crocombe.

His dismissal leaves captain Brett D'Oliveira unbeaten on 169 after a 333-ball innings feature a six and 16 fours,

The track is obviously a flat one, but what can his bowlers get out of it as they look to make inroads into Sussex's top order?

  4. Postpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 187-5 v Essex 168

The partnership between Matt Lamb and Michael Burgess for Warwickshire is now worth 63. Simon Harmer is tying things down at one end for Essex - although Burgess has just pulled him for four - but Lamb is now on 54 and the Bears look like opening up a decent lead.

  5. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 80-2

James Vince is clearly in the mood at Canterbury. Back-to-back fours at the end of the latest Darren Stevens over take him to 17 off 15 balls so far.

Nick Gubbins is at the other end and makes it three in a row at the start of the next by carving Nathan Gilchrist over the slips to move on to 14.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Wells lbw b Zafar Gohar 59 (Lancs 117-2 v Glos 252)

    Badly-needed breakthrough for the Glosters.

The left-arm spinner, Zafar Gohar, has ended a stand of 116.

Luke Wells is back to try and clip to leg, is beaten and good enough for Steve O'Shaughnessy.

  7. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Surrey 25-1 v Somerset 337

Last week, Craig Overton achieved career-best match figures with 13 wickets against Essex.

No sign of anything like that as he twice strays onto Hashim Amla's pads in the same over, gifting the South African a couple of easy boundaries.

There are four slips in place so that is very much not the line Tom Abell wants him to bowl.

for Emilio Gaypublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Northants 125-6 v Yorks

Northants desperately need someone to get them back in the game and Emilio Gay has a platform here.

He's been dealing in boundaries - 10 fours in this 102-ball fifty.

Very strong off his legs he clips Jordan Thompson away through midwicket to pass 50 for the fourth time in this his 16th first-class match.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Holland lbw Gilchrist 25 (Kent 305 v Hampshire 57-2)

Both Hampshire are now gone as Ian Holland is trapped in front by a Nathan Gilchrist delivery that cuts back off the pitch.

The bowler is 'well chuffed' as some might say, going down on his haunches with both fists clenched in celebration.

James Vince is the new batter. What are we going to see from him this afternoon?

  10. 50 runs

for Josh Bohannonpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 111-1 v Glos 252

10 minutes after lunch Josh Bohannon follows Luke Wells to fifty.

106 balls and eight fours - the one to reach the milestone edged through gully off Ryan Higgins.

Earlier he played the stroke of the morning - a belting straight drive off Ajeet Singh Dale.

  11. 50 runs

for Matt Lambpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 173-5 v Essex 168

    Matt LambImage source, Rex Features

Champions Warwickshire are out in front at Edgbaston and Matt Lamb has just completed an 86-ball fifty with a single to point off Mark Steketee.

He's hit eight fours so far and this is just what the Bears needed after losing three wickets during the morning session.

    Patel c Leach b Siddle 5 (Surrey 17-1 v Somerset 337)

    Peter SiddleImage source, Getty

Australian Peter Siddle marks his 200th first-class game with a wicket as Ryan Patel slashes hard to point.

The ball was certainly wide enough for the shot, but the placement was awry and Jack Leach pulled in a stinging catch.

Good start to the afternoon by Somerset.

  13. 150 runs

for Brett D'Oliveirapublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Worcestershire 461-8 v Sussex

Brett D'Oliveira wastes no time after the interval in reaching 150 as he flicks Henry Crocombe down to fine leg for a single. It has taken him 315 balls faced and it is a tremendous innings for his side.

    Warwickshire 159-5 v Essex 168

An unconvincing way for Warwickshire to reach 150 immediately after lunch as an uppish edge by Matt Lamb off Mark Steketee runs away for four.

Lamb adds another boundary later in the over, this time an authoritative square cut. and progresses to 45 not out.

  16. Memorable morning for Revispublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Northants 116-6 v Yorkshire 296 - lunch

What a session for Yorkshire's Matthew Revis as Northamptonshire lost four wickets before lunch.

The 20-year-old struck twice with the ball, knocking out Will Young's off-stump and then having Saif Zaib caught behind - and moments before the break he held a fine catch at backward square leg as Rob Keogh top-edged an attempted sweep.

Cool and cloudy conditions make it feel much more like a bowling day and Yorkshire - with Revis to the fore - have taken a firm grip on this match, with much now depending on Emilio Gay and Luke Procter to keep Northamptonshire in contention.

  17. Lunch at the Riversidepublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Nottinghamshire 155-3

Durham end the session with something to smile about as Matty Potts has Joe Clarke caught at first slip for a single.

Having removed Ben Duckett, bowled for 54 off an inside edge in his previous over, Potts has figures of 3-35 from 10.2 overs.

Ben Slater remains on 60 not out - with seven fours - and Notts will resume 75 behind after lunch with seven wickets standing.

  18. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Leicestershire 213 v Derbyshire 147-2

Worrying signs for Leicestershire with Pakistan opener Shan Masood 81 not out at lunch at the Incora County Ground.

He made a double hundred last week against Sussex and appears hungry for more, with Derbyshire hoping for a significant first-innings lead.

Masood has hit 10 fours and shared an unbroken stand of 87 with Wayne Madsen, another in-form Derbyshire batsman.

  19. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Glamorgan 122 v Middlesex 263-7

    Ffion Wynne
    BBC Wales Sport

It's bitterly cold, windy and murky grey in Cardiff today - not a day you want to spend in the field with your hands in your pockets as the opposition's eighth-wicket partnership passes 50.

But that's exactly what Glamorgan ended up doing. The pitch has flattened out after 16 wickets fell on it yesterday and they've taken just the one wicket, that of Toby Roland-Jones for 65.

Middlesex are certainly the happier of the teams, not only because they are the ones sat inside (most of them), but also because they've extended their lead to 141 at lunch.

John Simpson is unbeaten on 69 and is being well supported by Tom Helm, who has 26 and there is lots of work to do for Glamorgan, who will be hoping to pick up these last two wickets sharpish as the game is already drifting away from them.

  20. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 47-1

After the loss of Joe Weatherley for 18, Hampshire avoid further damage before the interval, with Ian Holland 17 not out and Nick Gubbins on eight.

Kent's tail did not wag as heartily as they would have hoped after resuming on 271-7, as Keith Barker took 6-53, but they did manage to claim an extra batting point.

The Kent seamers have bowled tightly so far and there was time for an over of spin from Hamidullah Qadri just before lunch.
