  1. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 148-5 v Essex 168

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex Sport

Essex made a bright start as Shane Snater removed Dom Sibley for 33 to the first ball of the day.

Snater also had skipper Will Rhodes superbly caught by Simon Harmer at second slip in his next over but Warwickshire recovered to reach lunch just 20 runs behind.

  2. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Surrey 14-0 v Somerset 337

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Mixed feelings for Somerset this morning - delight at Tom Abell's classy 150 not out, his highest first-class score; but disappointment that their last four wickets added no more than 54, leaving them maybe 50 runs short of a par score on what is a good, easy-paced pitch.

Rory Burns and Ryan Patel safely negotiated a tricky six over mini-session before lunch, suggesting much hard labour lies ahead for bowlers and fielders alike.

  3. Windy business for Lancspublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 103-1 v Glos 252

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Its been a challenging morning session but sadly for Gloucestershire it's not been too challenging for the batters.

Instead, it's the strong winds which have caused a few problems - blowing dust across the pitch from the building site, advertising boards onto the outfield and blowing off umpire Steve O'Shaunghnessy's hat.

Thankfully, he had an alternative option in his pocket - the flat cap.

In other news, Lancashire's Luke Wells and Josh Bohannon have been faultless in taking their total beyond 100.

Wells reaching a fifty and Bohannon passing 2,000 first-class runs.

  5. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Worcestershire 460-8 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another session dominated by Worcestershire who have added 122 for the loss of three wickets.

Having dismissed Ben Cox after adding just four to his overnight score, Sussex would have hoped for better, but Joe Leach with a rapid 22, and then a breezy partnership of 85 between Brett D’Oliveira and 18-year-old Josh Baker has put Worcestershire firmly in the driving seat.

Baker was out on the stroke of lunch for 43, but D’Oliveira remains undefeated on 149, and on a pitch which is offering occasional assistance for the seamers, this already looks an imposing score from Worcestershire.

  6. Lunch at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Northants 116-6 v Yorks 296

A great morning for Yorkshire with four wickets falling.

They removed the second nightwatchman early and have chipped away since.

Will Young was the big wicket and was ripped out by Matt Revis.

Northants need someone to set their jaw to the wind this afternoon.

  7. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 103-1 v Glos 252

An ideal morning for Lancashire with a solid stand between Luke Wells, 51, and Josh Bohannon 46.

Gloucestershire were similarly going well yesterday - 119-0 - before they chucked it away.

One thinks Lanky won't be as wasteful of a good wicket.

    Keogh c Revis b Bess 21 (Northants 115-6 v Yorks 296)

Another one for Yorkshire on the stroke of lunch.

Rob Keogh made a hundred in the opening game but fails here.

He goes to sweep Dom Bess and gets a top edge that is really well caught by Matt Revis at short-fine leg.

Northants in a huge hole - albeit they are only four recognised batsmen down.

  9. 50 runs

for Luke Wellspublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 102-1 v Glos 252

The perfect session so far for Lancashire with some excellent progress replying to Gloucestershire's under-par total.

Luke Wells was up on his toes to punch Ajeet Singh Sale for four shortly before reaching his half-century in 110 balls with six fours.

  10. 50 runs

for Ben Duckettpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Nottinghamshire 153-2

Ben Duckett is a man in form and adds a 67-ball half-century to scores of 31, 122 and 95 this season with a boundary off Matty Potts.

But the Durham paceman has now taken his revenge by bowling him off the inside edge for 54. Duckett won't be happy with that, he just hung his bat out limply and his dismissal ends a stand of 93with Ben Slater.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Weatherley c Robinson b Milnes 18 (Kent 337 v Hampshire 42-1)

Not a great shot by Joe Weatherley who is caught behind off an inside edge as Ollie Robinson dives low to his left to gather.

Nick Gubbins comes out to bat at three and cover drives Jackson Bird for a stylish introductory boundary.

    Surrey 2-0 v Somerset 337

They are back out in the middle at the Oval and Rory Burns and Ryan Patel have a single each from Craig Overton's opening over.

They will be happy just to survive until lunch as Peter Siddle opens up for Somerset from the other end.

  13. Kent look for breakthroughpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 37-0

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Advantage Hampshire after Keith Barker’s six-fer helped the visitors take seven wickets for just 79 runs with the second new ball.

Kent will feel disappointed to only make 305 considering Daniel Bell-Drummond made 149 of them himself and set a good platform.

It's cloudier today after yesterday’s sunshine, perhaps that will help Kent get the ball talking on what still looks like a good pitch to bat on.

  14. Durham hope for afternoon collapsepublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Nottinghamshire 143-1

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The sun is shining in Chester-le-Street and the flat pitch is offering little to the Durham bowlers, in similar scenes to last week's fixture against Leicestershire.

Only one wicket has fallen today, with Haseeb Hameed lbw to Matty Potts in the fifth over of the day for 33 after an opening stand of 60 with Ben Slater.

Slater is now on 57 - his sixth half-century against Durham - with Ben Duckett at the other end on 46 and they trail by 87.

It's difficult, at the moment, to see where the wickets are going to come from. But that was also the situation when Durham were batting yesterday morning, only for them to collapse in the afternoon session.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 35-0

Matt Milnes has tried out Joe Weatherley with a bouncer and the Hampshire opener smashed it away over square leg for a maximum.

He is now 18 not out and partner Ian Holland has 13, having just pushed Jackson Bird through the covers for four with excellent timing.

  16. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 137-5 v Essex 168

Essex now have South Africa spinner Simon Harmer operating at Edgbaston and has been a model of accuracy so far, as you would expect.

Matt Lamb is 23 not out and Michael Burgess has eight for the champions, who need another 32 for a first-innings lead.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Brooks c Overton b Topley 0 (Surrey v Somerset 337)

Tom Abell is left unbeaten on 150 as number 11 Jack Brooks last just six deliveries at the Oval as he edges to first slip.

Abell batted for six minutes in excess of seven hours, faced 298 balls and collected 22 boundaries.

A magnificent effort for his side - whose highest total in their first two games was only 180.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

Siddle run out 7 (Surrey v Somerset 336-9)

He only has himself to blame.

Peter Siddle takes on Sam, Curran's arm from the backward point boundary but the throw to keeper Ben Foakes is excellent and the Australian is run out.

Tom Abell is 150 not out as he is joined by Jack Brooks.

  19. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

Worcestershire have now reached 407-7 against Sussex, with skipper Brett D'Oliveira still there on 122 not out.

Opener Ben Slater has reached a half-century at the Riverside for Notts, who are now 117-1.

Pakistan's Shan Masood made a double century for Derbyshire last week and is now 68 not out against Leicestershire, with his side 114-2.

Middlesex are now 237-7 against Glamorgan - a lead of 115 - with John Simpson 58 not out.

  20. Postpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 15-0

Hampshire are taking it steady at the start of their reply to Kent's all-out score, but Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland have a boundary each, with six overs completed.
