Luke Procter wastes no time in having a dart for a bonus point.

He whips Jordan Thompson to fine leg and two threes get Northants to 200.

    Berg b Haris Rauf 3 (Northants 189-9 v Yorks 296)

Northants on the brink now of not even picking up a single batting point - and conceding a three-figure lead.

Haris Rauf squares Gareth Berg up and seams one away to pluck the off stump.

Lovely piece of bowling. Rauf's first of the innings.

  5. Foakes miss may cost Somersetpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Surrey 118-3 v Somerset 337 - tea

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

When Ben Foakes was on two, he went to clip a half-volley from Josh Davey through the on side, failed to keep it down, only for Tom Banton to drop a straightforward chance.

It was a miss that Somerset are living to regret, with the Foakes/Ollie Pope partnership already worth 70, with power to add.

Jack Leach is extracting just a hint of turn and bounce from this otherwise placid pitch, but with Jack Brooks failing to maintain the control of his fellow seamers, the runs for Surrey are coming readily enough.

Back on after tea at Wantage Road.

Jordan Thompson has a shiny new ball to use and two wickets to knock over to secure Yorkshire a big lead.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Brookes c S Cook b Steketee 7 (Warwickshire 274-8 v Essex 168)

There are shadows on the ground at Edgbaston as Henry Brookes tries an ambitious lofted drive from a full length ball by Mark Steketee and picks out Sam Cook at mid-on.

The Australian paceman now has 3-87 and Liam Norwell comes out to bat with Michael Burgess 76 not out and Warwickshire 106 ahead.

  9. 100 runs

for Josh Bohannonpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 201-2 v Glos 252

A fourth first-class century for the 25-year-old Boltonian.

His 15th four, off Ajeet Singh Dale, is flicked to fine leg to bring him a hundred in 213 balls.

All his centuries have come here at Old Trafford.

And two of them he turned into 170s so ominous signs for Gloucestershire.

He brings the 200 up and first batting point for Lancashire in the process.

  11. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex 64-2

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Advantage Worcestershire who took a wicket with the very first ball of the Sussex innings with Ali Orr bowled by Joe Leach

Tom Haines followed shortly after leaving Sussex 34-2, but Cheteshwar Pujara looks a class apart, reaching tea on 31 not out and playing in a calm authoritative manner which will be vital if Sussex are to save this game.

Tom Alsop has a badly swollen finger sustained in the field yesterday - he’s yet to bat and Sussex will be hoping he’s not required to do so today

This is a good batting wicket, although there’s enough encouragement to keep the bowlers interested

  12. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 219-3

James Vince's example is clearly rubbing off on his Hampshire team-mates.

Liam Dawson swats away a short ball from Nathan Gilchrist, adds four through the off-side from the next delivery and then goes down on one knee to find the cover boundary at the start of the next over from Matt Milnes.

He has 18 from 19 balls, Vince is 82 not out and Hampshire's deficit is 86.

  13. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Surrey 118-3 v Somerset 337

Sensible batting by Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes, who share an unbroken partnership of 70 to the tea interval.

Surrey were in some trouble at 48-3, but the England pair have resisted the Somerset seamers and spinner Jack leach has now come into the attack, sending down four overs for 10 runs so far.

Pope is 43 not out - to follow his 127 against Hampshire - and Foakes has 39.

  14. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 203-3

Suggesting James Vince had slowed down in a previous entry was an (admittedly fairly lame) attempt at humour.

He cover drives Matt Milnes for his 15th four to move to 80 not out from 86 balls and Hampshire have their first batting point.

  15. Tea at the Riversidepublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Nottinghamshire 276-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

No joy for Durham during the afternoon session at Chester-le-Street, with Nottinghamshire’s Ben Slater and Lyndon James batting throughout the entire session.

Slater has reached the interval on 113 and his young batting partner is on 68.

With the second new ball due in one over's time, the hosts need to make good use of it or this contest could rapidly run away from them.

    Gubbins c Cox b Gilchrist 69 (Kent 305 v Hampshire 193-3)

Kent needed that - Nick Gubbins pushes forward to an angled ball from Nathan Gilchrist and Jordan Cox moves smartly to his right at slip to take the catch.

Gubbins hit 12 fours in his innings and shared a stand of 136 with James Vince, who has now 'slowed down' and has 75 off 76 balls. .

  17. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Northants 188-8 v Yorks 296

Another excellent session for Yorkshire with three more wickets.

Emilio Gay played well for his 65 before a misjudgement against Dom Bess but no-one else has shown for the home side.

Luke Procter is still there and he is Northants' hope of pushing on past 200 to stay in the game.

  18. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 261-7 v Essex 168

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

The second new ball came to Essex's assistance after Warwickshire made rapid progress after lunch.

Fine bowling by Sam Cook saw Matt Lamb clean bowled for 71 and Danny Briggs superbly grabbed by Alastair Cook at slip for six.

Even so Warwickshire added 113 runs in the session to lead by 93 at tea, with Michael Burgess 69 not out.

  19. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 194-2 v Glos 252

    Lancashire's day keeps getting better.

Just the one wicket to fall, that of Luke Wells for 59.

Josh Bohannon has continued to make great progress and has steered his side towards bonus-point territory.

He takes tea 98 not out.

The home side set for a big number here and a chance to take complete control of the game.

Most importantly, they take tea on time! On time!

It can be done county cricketers!

  20. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

There will be no hundred for Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen at Leicester - he has just been run out for 94, ending a stand of 221 with Shan Masood, who is 153 not out.

Nottinghamshire are 268-3 at the Riverside, with Ben Slater 110 not out and Lyndon James on 63 against Durham, a lead of 38.

Glamorgan have just begun their second innings and are 3-0 against Middlesex, trailing by 211.

Sussex have lost skipper Tom Haines, bowled by Charlie Morris for 26, and are 50-2 in reply to Worcestershire's 491 all out.
