There has been some exhilarating cricket played over the last four days and only one of the nine Championship games ended in a draw.

Surrey remain on top of Division One after Ryan Patel's 102 set up a three-wicket win over Somerset, while reigning champions Warwickshire beat Essex to register their first victory of the season.

In Division Two, Notts lead the way following their three-day win at the Riverside, but Midlands rivals Derbyshire are only one point behind after defeating Leicestershire by an innings.

We'll be back on Thursday to start the fourth round of matches. Thanks for your company.

  4. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE DRAW WITH YORKSHIREpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 24 April 2022

    Northants 204 & 318-7 v Yorks 296 & 406-3d

Yorkshire did not give it up easily at Wantage Road but Northamptonshire have seen out 120 overs to secure a draw.

They had all 10 wickets standing at the start of the day.

Haris Rauf ripped out two in quick secession in the morning but Will Young settled the hosts.

Rob Keogh and Luke Procter quickly fell before tea and when Young finally went for 96 there was still hope for the visitors.

But they are denied having dominated the game.

    They take 13 points to Northamptonshire's 12.

Northants 314-7 need 499 to beat Yorks

Lewis McManus just keeps out one from Haris Rauf that ducks in late.

    Northants four balls from safety.

Matt Revis to bowl the final over.

Lancashire beat Gloucestershire by an innings and 57 runs

How well Gloucestershire did to get inside four overs from safety.

124 overs they kept Lancashire out there for, including 34 from the final two wickets.

But ultimately Lancashire's dominance of the game is rewarded.

Gloucestershire collapsed hideously from 119-0 in their first innings and posting only 252 having won the toss has ultimately proved the difference.

    Josh Bohannon's epic 231 proves a match-winning knock.

The beer will taste even sweeter for Lancs having been made to work so hard for their win for the second week running.

    There is the breakthrough !

Saqib Mahmood has done it - but he doesn't know it!

A beautiful away swinger beats Tom Lace's outside edge and clips the off stump.

Mahmood is appealing for a catch behind but the bail is trimmed and Lace is gone after 201 balls.

A fine effort but Gloucestershire only have one wicket to try and see out the remaining 10 overs.
