Northants 284-6 need 499 to beat Yorks

The field is all up for Yorkshire so plenty of runs are on offer.

Lewis McManus raises fifty but it's the 103 balls he's eaten up that's more significant.

12 overs remaining and Northants are almost safe.

Hmm, perhaps a little more nervy shuffling from Lancashire now.

Tom Lace and Jared Warner are still going for The Glosters and they have got their side to within 12 overs of a draw.

72 balls remaining and Lancashire need two good'uns.

  3. Final hour at Wantage Roadpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 24 April 2022

Northants 271-6 need 499 to beat Yorks

16 overs left in Northampton and the home side are seeing out the trip at the moment with Lewis McManus and Matt Kelly.

But that wicket of Will Young has just kept Yorkshire interested and there's no handshake just yet.

    Lancs v Glos 229-8 trail by 75

Anybody else not think that Gloucestershire would still be going this late in the day?

This was the type of partnership they needed much earlier.

They haven't been able to take out significant chunks of time.

But this ninth-wicket stand between Tom Lace and Jared Warner has eaten up 22 overs so far.

Still need to get through another 16 though for the great escape.

    Surrey 308 & 239-7 v Somerset 337 & 207

Ben Foakes tucks Jack Brooks away through the leg-side for the winning boundary for Surrey, who retain top spot in Division One.

Foakes finishes on 48 not out, but the main plaudits go to opener Ryan Patel, who set up the successful chase with an innings of 102.

Brooks took 4-73 as Somerset did their level best but that is three successive defeats now for them at the start of the season.

    Surrey 227-6 (target 237)

Ben Foakes is a calming presence for Surrey. He'll want to take any heat out of the situation and rotates the strike by taking a single from the final delivery of Craig Overton's latest over. Sensible batting - 10 needed.

Overton, by the way, has a bruised toe, BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson says. Will he be fit for Thursday's home game with Warwickshire?

    Surrey 226-6 (target 237)

Ben Foakes takes a single at the start of a new Jack Brooks and having been seriously discomfited by the next delivery, Jordan Clark gets off the mark with a four through mid-wicket - 11 needed now.

The final two balls of the over are short of a length, Clark swishes at both but makes no contact.

The hope will just be beginning to hurt Gloucestershire supporters.

But they still have another 23 to try and see out.

Still so much time for Lancashire but perhaps one or two moving nervously.

    Safe hands.

Young b Revis 96 (Northants 236-6 need 499 to beat Yorks)

It was a safe half hour for Northants after tea but this wicket opens things up again.

Will Young had been out there for 241 balls but he's tried to leave Matt Revis, dragged it into his own stumps and gone for 96.

Just when the game looked to be heading safely for a draw, Yorkshire get the wicket they wanted and have 25 more overs to try and find four wickets.

No hat-trick for Kyle Abbott as Jackson Bird flicks away for four - but it is three wickets in four balls as the next one has the Australian lbw.

Prolific Ben Compton made 89 for Kent, who have now lost two out of three, but there last five wickets went down for 49 in 15 overs.
