    Gorgeous.

    A Cook c McManus b Sanderson 6 (Essex 45-3 v Northants 390)

Sir Alastair Cook's somewhat tortured stay at the crease is over.

After struggling to six off 48 balls, he nibbles at one outside off from Ben Sanderson and it's a regulation one for Lewis McManus behind the stumps.

Cook's waft of his bat after dismissal shows exactly what he thought of that.

  13. 'Skipper leading from the front'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Derbyshire 368 v Glamorgan 106-1

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan captain David Lloyd led from the front with a half-century off 79 balls in the afternoon sunshine at Derby as his side enjoyed their best opening start of the summer.

Andrew Salter, who had been struggling in his temporary role as opener, survived an early caught-behind appeal from Sam Conners to provide Lloyd with solid support including a pair of powerful pulls.

With Lloyd on the attack, the hundred came up in the 26th over but a horrible mix-up just before tea saw both at the same end when Conners’ throw came in, and Salter was gone for 33.

Earlier Derbyshire failed to make significant progress after lunch, with Alex Thomson left unbeaten on 21 despite a couple of big blows.

Suranga Lakmal on 5 hit spinner Salter a long way in the air for Labuschagne to take a tricky running catch, then after a couple of pointless overs of prodding around, Ryan Sidebottom edged Michael Neser to slip for the Australian to claim his fourth wicket.

    Sussex 299-4 v Durham 223

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

    An excellent session for Sussex.

Cheteshwar Pujara has been imperious and looks set for a third County Championship century in a row.

The only wicket to fall was that of Tom Alsop who shared a partnership of 99 with Pujara before he fell LBW to Liam Trevaskis

Durham have just taken the new ball but are badly missing Chris Rushworth, who will play no further part in the match after a concussion injury

  15. wicket

    Weatherley c Jones b Anderson 0 (Hampshire 246 & 0-1 v Lancashire 240)

Jimmy Anderson doesn't take long to strike with the new ball.

Joe Weatherley is brought forward into edging to Rob Jones, who takes an expert low catch at third slip. 0 and 1 for the Hampshire opener in this one.

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 602-8

And still no sign of a declaration from the visitors. Not sure they really need these extra runs to be honest.

  18. 50 runs

for Brookpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Yorkshire 135-3 v Kent 291

Fifty for Harry Brook and it's been an excellent innings.

    73 balls and eight fours.

Both he and Dawid Malan are looking a million dollars in the Headingley sunshine in a stand that's now worth 115.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Clark c Harris b van Buuren 137 (Gloucestershire v Surrey 593-8)

Jordan Clark's knock is finally ended.

In his search for quick runs, he tries to hit Graeme van Buuren out of the park, but he is caught at long on.

He ends just short of his career-best score of 140, but it is a Surrey record eighth wicket stand of 244.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Burgess c Davies b Overton 13 (Somerset 458 v Warwickshire 92-6)

And that caps a session of absolute dominance from Somerset.

It's a beauty from Craig Overton that just nips away and feathers the edge of Michael Burgess.

Steven Davies takes a simple catch behind the stumps.

Six wickets in the session from the hosts at Taunton as tea is taken.
