  1. Glamorgan need quick wicketspublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Derbyshire 360-8 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales at Derby

It’s been an evenly-fought first session at Derby but the home side look to have built a decent foundation thanks to the opening-day efforts of Brooke Guest, Shan Masood and Wayne Madsen.

No individual batsman has taken control on day two with Mattie McKiernan caught behind off Michael Neser for a single, Anuj Dal edging Michael Hogan to slip for 24 and Leus du Plooy trapped lbw by spinner Andrew Salter for a cautious 24.

Alex Thomson got off the mark with a lofted straight six off Salter while Suranga Lakmal also opened his shoulders with a similar effort dropping just short of the boundary.

Thankfully the temperature has risen from the chilly opening day but Glamorgan still need to finish the innings off quickly to stay in the game.

    Durham 223 v Sussex 155-3

Sussex have nibbled away at the Durham first innings total adding 73 runs in the session, against tight accurate Durham bowling.

The visitors have been impeded by the loss of Chris Rushworth through a concussion injury, after he was hit whilst batting yesterday.

Matthew Potts has been the pick of the visitors' attack, but on what looks a good batting surface and with Cheteshwar Pujara looking in ominously good form, Sussex will be disappointed if they don’t post a significant first innings total

  3. Procter one short of century at lunchpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Northants 328-8 v Essex

A good old fashioned morning of ‘muck and bullets’ County Championship cricket with neither side willing to give an inch but Northamptonshire are making the most of a slow and some might say, dead, surface.

Luke Procter’s lunching just one run short of a nuggety, gritty century during which he’s offered just one sharp caught and bowled chance to Simon Harmer when he was on 27.

It is still difficult to analyse exactly where this match might go until Essex have batted but at the moment these are four sessions which will not live long in the memory as far as histrionics go.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Brooks c Sibley b Hannon-Dalby 32 (Somerset 458 v Warwickshire)

Warwickshire finally make the final breakthrough, which takes us to lunch at Taunton too.

Jack Brooks has a carve at Olly Hannon-Dalby outside off-stump but only finds Dom Sibley at point.

The wicket leaves the Bears seamer with figures of 5-89 as he walks off showing the ball.

  5. 6 runs

Somerset bring up 450published at 13:16 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Somerset 457-9 v Warwickshire

Some lusty hitting from Jack Brooks takes Somerset past 450.

First he launches Danny Briggs over the boundary for a maximum and follows that up by driving him down the ground for four more.

The last-wicket stand with Jack Leach is now worth 40.

All games are at lunch now, apart from the match at Taunton.

Time for a look at the scores and what the radio commentators have made of things...

  8. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Somerset 445-9 v Warwickshire

I mentioned how good Jack Leach is... Jack Brooks isn't a bad man to have coming in at 11 either.

He sweeps Danny Briggs for six and then cuts the spinner away to the rope for four more.

They'll carry on until Warwickshire can break this last-wicket stand.

  9. Postpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Yorkshire 20-2 v Kent 291

They'll take lunch at 13:10 BST to make up for time lost yesterday.

    Can Kent sneak another wicket?

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Hill lbw b Gilchrist 8 (Yorkshire 19-2 v Kent 291)

    Yorkshire lose their second wicket!

George Hill doesn't play at a ball that swings back in from Nathan Gilchrist and he's struck plumb in front.

Dawid Malan comes in at four with his side under huge pressure.

  11. Leach the best in the business?published at 12:58 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Somerset 424-9 v Warwickshire

Is Jack Leach the best number 10 or 11 in the game for sticking around and annoying bowlers?

The Somerset and England man has grinded his way to 28 not out.

    We'll do a vote.

Thumbs up if you think he's the best 10 or 11 around. Thumbs down for no.

  12. An education in county cricketpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Essex v Northants 321-8

Simon Harmer has twirled away for 31 overs without a wicket. Luke Procter has been out there for 248 deliveries as he moves to within three of a century.

I wonder what those children in the crowd have made of this somewhat meandering morning of county cricket.

Very different to the zoo or definitely a visit to a soft play centre! I hope they've brought some great sandwiches!!

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Hampshire 246 v Lancashire 111-7

Another chance goes down, and it's Joe Weatherley at third slip again.

This time, it's Phil Salt who is reprieved and Mohammad Abbas the unlucky bowler.

  14. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Hampshire 246 v Lancashire 109-7

Almost a second wicket in the over for Fuller.

Tom Bailey edges it and it goes quickly to Joe Weatherley, but the third slip man can't hang on and it ends up going for four.

The first thing Hampshire have got wrong in this session.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Karunaratne c Robinson b Gilchrist 4 (Yorkshire 9-1 v Kent 291)

Kent get the wicket they deserve.

Dimuth Karunaratne plays a wild drive and snicks Nathan Gilchrist behind. The Sri Lankan batted 48 balls for his four.

Yorkshire have only scored nine off the first 15 overs. Kent are all over the hosts at Headingley.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Davey c Burgess b Briggs 18 (Somerset 417-9 v Warwickshire)

Warwickshire finally break Somerset's gutsy ninth-wicket stand as Josh Davey edges spinner Danny Briggs behind.

Davey and Jack Leach put on 44 valuable runs.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Jones c Brown b Fuller 3 (Hampshire 246 v Lancashire 105-7)

    Wowsers!

A sixth wicket this morning for Hampshire as James Fuller gets in on the act. He draws Rob Jones forward and it's edged behind to Ben Brown.

They have taken 6-68 in this session and will fancy a three-figure first innings lead.

  18. Maidens aplenty at Headingleypublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Yorkshire 9-0 v Kent 291

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Tight start from Kent bowlers Grant Stewart and Matt Milnes, with 10 maidens from the opening 12 overs of Yorkshire’s first innings.

Earlier Nathan Gilchrist was bowled for 0 by a toe-cruncher of a yorker by Haris Rauf. That’s his fifth duck in five Championship innings, which I’m told equals a record set by former Kent wicketkeeper Isaac Ingram in 1878.

Rauf looked a bit too quick for Kent’s lower order in collecting his five-wicket bag. The visitors will though be disappointed to miss a third batting bonus point.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Croft c Vince b Abbas 11 (Hampshire 246 v Lancashire 100-6)

The game continues to move at good speed at the Rose Bowl as Hampshire's morning gets even better.

After hitting one slashing four up and over the slips in the over from Mohammad Abbas, Steven Croft tries it again but succeeds only in edging it high to James Vince at first slip.

Hants on top in this game.

  20. 300 runs

for Northantspublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 29 April 2022

    Essex v Northants 300-8

Excellent resistance this morning from Northants as a single from Gareth Berg brings up the 300.

That's also a 50 partnership for him and Luke Procter with number ten Berg an impressive 32 not out.
