  1. Postpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Yorks 131-3 v Essex 403

They've resumed at Chelmsford and Joe Root and Matthew Revis have just brought up the 50 partnership.

Root looks in decent nick, sweeping Simon Harmer for a crisp boundary just after the restart and he has 26, while Revis - who began his Yorkshire career as an opening batter - has looked more than capable on 17 not out.

Given the rate of scoring in this game, Yorkshire might just have time to eke out a first-innings lead some time tomorrow afternoon...

  3. Lunchtime in Southamptonpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Hampshire 342 & 161-9 Gloucestershire 179

An expensive delayed half hour before lunch for Gloucestershire.

Hampshire's last pair Aneurin Donald and James Fuller have enjoyed a good thrash, and extended their stand to 58.

That more than doubled the previous best partnership, 27 between Donald and Keith Barker for the ninth wicket - and the hosts now lead by 324.

From 76-8, Hampshire have also more than doubled their score - a match-turning effort, you might think?

  4. Lunchtime at Hovepublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Sussex 392, Middlesex 335-8

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A morning truncated by bad light saw Middlesex add 49 for the loss of Martin Andersson and Blake Cullen.

Both wickets have been taken by England's Ollie Robinson who has taken five in the innings and has consistently troubled the batsman with his excellent line and length.

The seventh-wicket partnership between Luke Holman and Andersson added 99 and, with Holman still there 75 not out, Middlesex have fought back to within 57 of the Sussex total having at one stage been 45-4.

  5. Keaton Jennings back in the groovepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Lancashire 221-1, Warwickshire 315

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Keaton Jennings hasn't played a competitive game of cricket for over nine months.

A calf injury at the end of last season ruled him out of Lancashire's dramatic title challenge - and then he did his other calf in pre-season ruling him out of the opening three games this year.

But he gets to lunch unbeaten on 96 in his first game of the 2022 campaign.

He's just four runs away from his sixth century for Lancashire and the 21st of his first-class career.

Warwickshire leave the field knowing that 315 is looking nowhere near enough but perhaps already grateful for the time lost in the match.

  6. 50 runs

Half century for Aneurin Donaldpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Hampshire 342 & 146-9, Gloucestershire 179

Aneurin Donald goes to 50 with a six off Dom Goodman - and then hits another one next ball. And the next too!!!

    18 off three balls . . .

    Oh no. Not again!

Thankfully the fourth ball of the over is a glide to third man for a single. And, after Ben Stokes' near miss yesterday, with his 34 runs off spinner Josh Baker at Worcester, that's the end of today's latest 'six sixes in an over' attempt.

You can see this becoming a bit of a theme this summer.

When is Jos Buttler dxue back from the IPL?

  7. Lunchtime in Manchesterpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Lancashire 221-1, Warwickshire 315

Keaton Jennings goes to lunch on 96 - just four short of a comeback century.

    Josh Bohannon is on 20.

Lancashire now trail Warwickshire by just 93, still with nine wickets remaining.

94 runs and just one wicket in the session.

  8. Glamorgan into the lead against Leicestershirepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Glamorgan 389-7, Leicestershire 320

    Ffion Wynne
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

Glamorgan have progressed nicely this morning on a gloriously sunny day in Cardiff.

They lead Leicestershire by 69 runs but, if the visitors can take these last three wickets quickly, we could be in for a very interesting finish.

Chris Cooke made the most of being dropped on 9 yesterday to make his way to a half-century before being bowled by Callum Parkinson next ball.

Australia's Michael Neser is digging in nicely on 25, but credit to Leicestershire's bowlers. They haven't let Glamorgan run away with it this morning.

It still looks a very good batting pitch and number nine James Weighell has already smashed a six off Parkinson, so Glamorgan will be hoping for some useful lower order runs from their final three.

  9. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Northants 194 & 14-2 v Surrey 401

It's been a torrid pre-lunch spell for Northamptonshire, who are following on and have lost both openers already.

Emilio Gay is still there, having taken a couple of painful blows on the elbow just before the interval when two deliveries from Jordan Clark fizzed up off the surface.

Luke Procter - who was left on 83 not out when Northamptonshire's first innings closed on 194 - is back out there again already, with Surrey sensing the chance to force victory inside three days.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Barker c Hammond b van Buuren 4 (Hampshire 103-9 v Gloucestershire 103-9)

Just one more wicket for Gloucestershire to take as Keith Barker departs. He only made 4, but he still helped Aneurin Donald put on a further 27 - and that's the biggest partnership in this sorry Hampshire innings.

It will be a delayed lunch now in Southampton as last man James Fuller comes in.

The pressbox sausage and mash has cruelly been put on hold until 1:30. You can hear and almost feel the frustration in the BBC commentary box.

  11. for Ollie Robinsonpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Middlesex 320-8 v Sussex 392

Just what England fans will want to see - and Sussex fans, obviously!

Ollie Robinson now has five wickets in this Middlesex innings - having removed Martin Andersson for 55 before Blake Cullen followed suit.

Middlesex are still 72 behind Sussex's first-innings total and Robinson must fancy his chances of finishing with six or seven...

  12. 200 runs

200 up for Lancashirepublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Lancashire 200-1, Warwickshire 315

A first batting bonus point for Lancashire as the hosts near lunch in Manchester.

Keaton Jennings is still going well on 81, while Josh Bohannon is on 14.

The only man out this morning is Luke Wells for 80.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Young c Foakes b Worrall 3 (Northants 194 & 8-2 v Surrey 401)

A beauty from Dan Worrall! The Surrey seamer gets the ball to move away from Will Young and Ben Foakes takes his second catch of this second innings.

Both Northamptonshire openers now back in the hutch - they're certainly up against it here...

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Vasconcelos c Foakes b Clark 2 (Northants 194 & 8-1 v Surrey 401)

Jordan Clark makes an early breakthrough for Surrey, with a rising delivery that Ricardo Vasconcelos can only edge through to the keeper.

Emilio Gay joins Will Young at the crease, with Northamptonshire still trailing by 199.

  15. 50 runs

for Joe Leachpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Worcs 266-8 v Durham 580-6

Good work by Joe Leach, who brought up his second half-century of the campaign by sweeping Scott Borthwick to the fence.

Leach added 62 for the eighth wicket with Josh Baker, but the young spinner has now become the Pears' second victim of the day, a first victim for seamer Matt Salisbury.

And Worcestershire have quite a way to go as they reply to Durham's daunting total of 580-6 declared.

  16. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Yorks 115-3 v Essex 403

No further play at Chelmsford this morning, where they've decided to take lunch early at 12.45pm and inspect the pitch after that.

Just 11.5 overs were bowled before the rain arrived, with Joe Root enjoying his first innings of the season.

The ex-England captain is 21 not out, with nightwatchman Matthew Revis progressing to 10 not out.

  17. Postpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Northants 194 & 6-0 v Surrey 401

The covers are off at The Oval and Northamptonshire have begun following on after incurring that first-innings deficit of 207.

Will Young and Ricardo Vasconcelos are the batters at the wicket and their first task will be to get through this tricky pre-lunch period unscathed. Three overs gone so far.

  18. Ducking, weaving, bobbing and swaying . . .published at 12:30 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Worcestershire 244-7, Durham 580-6 dec

    Dan Wheeler
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Worcestershire’s lower order are picking their way through a peppering from Durham’s attack as they try to wrap up the home side’s first innings.

But so far Joe Leach and Josh Baker have ducked, weaved, bobbed and swayed very well.

Only Ben Cox has perished this morning - ironically from a well pitched-up ball from the excellent Matty Potts.

  19. 50 runs

for Martin Anderssonpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Middlesex 305-6 v Sussex 392

Middlesex's Martin Andersson goes to his half-century off 92 balls, although he gets there with a rather fortunate edge off Aaron Beard that races through the slips for four.

It's the first time Andersson has reached 50 since his last visit to Hove at the end of last season - but this seventh-wicket stand with Luke Hollman has been very valuable for Middlesex as they continue to reduce the deficit.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Dawson c Goodman b Singh-Dale 12 (Hampshire 77-8 v Gloucestershire)

The Hampshire second-innings collapse goes on.

Liam Dawson is eighth man out.

But, having used Kyle Abbott as nightwatchman yesterday evening, Hampshire do have some serious batting left.

Keith Barker, an opener in his youth with Lancashire and now batting ridiculously low at 10 in this innings, comes out to join Aneurin Donald.
