    Yorkshire 227-5 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Joe Root is now into the 90s as he chases a Roses hundred. He really is a class apart as a batter.

With him at the crease, Yorkshire's worries are far less despite the large deficit.

  2. Stokes battingpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Division Two update

England captain Ben Stokes is now at the crease for Durham after Australia's Marnus Labuschagne removed Alex Lees and Scott Borthwick in quick succession.

The score is 190-5, a lead of 136, as Glamorgan fight their way back into the game.

Alex Thomson has gone for 54 but Anuj Dal is unbeaten on 50 as Derbyshire move to 448-7, a lead of 80 over Worcestershire.

Hassan Azad is closing in on 50 as Leicestershire are 73-1, still 167 runs behind Sussex.

At Lord's, Nottinghamshire are 193-5, a lead of 413 over Middlesex.

    Yorkshire 220-5 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

This sixth-wicket partnership between Joe Root and Harry Duke is now worth 86.

Duke, aged just 20, is looking assured in the middle in such a high-intensity game.

    Hammond c Davies b Davey 4 (Gloucestershire 186-9 & 28-3 v Somerset 591-7 dec)

    Gloucestershire are falling apart here!

Miles Hammond is drawn into a faint edge from a lovely Josh Davey ball and he nicks it behind.

This match could be over today at this rate.

  5. 50 runs

for Will Rhodespublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Warwickshire 234-3 v Northants 597-6 dec

Best shot of the day as Will Rhodes on-drives Matt Kelly for four to bring up his 50.

Coming off 103 balls with seven fours and a six, it's the fastest of the three half centuries in this innings by quite some distance.

The run-rate has certainly picked up with the second new ball.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Harris c Lammonby b Overton 15 (Gloucestershire 186-9 & 24-2 v Somerset 591-7 dec)

    Calamitous batting from Marcus Harris!

What is the Australian opener thinking? Craig Overton bowls a short one which is well outside off-stump. Harris tries to hook it square and ends up skying it for mid-on Tom Lammonby to come round and pouch it easily.

Judging by the cheers at the fall of that wicket, quite a few Somerset fans have made the hour's drive up from Taunton - they'll be loving this!

  7. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Warwickshire 225-3 v Northants 597-6 dec

Sam Hain caresses one down behind point to the boundary as the Warwickshire batter moves into the 80s.

His partnership with captain Will Rhodes is now worth 112 as they make good progress.

  8. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Yorkshire 214-5 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Joe Root's one of those cricketers where you look up and he's suddenly on 81.

A few fine shots here and there, a couple of bits of luck along the way, but he's just accumulated runs.

    An absolute run-machine.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Scott c Renshaw b Siddle 7 (Gloucestershire 186-9 & 24-1 v Somerset 591-7 dec)

Somerset in business already in the second innings!

Peter Siddle, with that bustling run of his, gets one to lift a bit and George Scott edges it to Matt Renshaw at second slip, who takes it at a comfortable height.

Just the seven runs in the match for Scott, with Siddle getting him both times.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Linde c Burns b Jacks 26 (Kent 166-7 v Surrey 671-9 dec)

George Linde's little cameo comes to an end.

Spinner Will Jacks picks up his third wicket as Linde edges him to Rory Burns at slip.

    Jacks has a career-best 3-40.

  11. Postpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Kent 166-6 v Surrey 671-9 dec

George Linde is taking the attack to Surrey.

The South African all-rounder has 26 from 25 balls including five fours.

But Kent are still a long way behind in this game.

  12. Close!published at 14:22 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Gloucestershire 186-9 & 19-0 v Somerset 591-7 dec

Gloucestershire opener George Scott is a lucky man as he goes to pull Craig Overton and misjudges it.

But the ball loops up and drops just in front of wicket-keeper Steve Davies. Overton is not amused!

  13. Postpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Yorkshire 210-5 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

    Close!

From around the wicket Luke Wood finds Joe Root's edge and the ball flies between the keeper and first slip.

Four runs and Root is up to 77.

  14. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Warwickshire 206-3 v Northants 597-6 dec

Gareth Berg concedes four leg byes as the 200 comes up for the home county and they reach their first batting bonus point.

The follow-on target is 448, but the Bears will be quite content with how things have gone so far today.

  15. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Gloucestershire 186-9 & 12-0 v Somerset 591-7 dec

Marcus Harris has just caressed a lovely stroke through the covers for four off fellow Aussie Peter Siddle.

Apart from the huge first innings deficit, it really should be a good time to bat.

  16. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Yorkshire 203-5 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Yorkshire go past 200 to bring up a first batting bonus point.

The target they'll have in mind is the 417 they need to avoid the follow-on. That's a LONG way away with just five wickets in hand.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

Leicestershire have already lost opener Sam Evans as they reply 240 runs behind Sussex on first innings.

Both Bens, Slater and Duckett, have fallen since lunch at Lord's although Nottinghamshire's lead is now more than 350 over Middlesex.

The 400 is up for Derbyshire with Anuj Dal and Alex Thomson at the crease and edging their side towards a 50-run advantage over Worcestershire.

  18. 'Glamorgan two bowlers down'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Durham 311 & 157-3 v Glamorgan 365

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Glamorgan are two bowlers down due to injury and we believe illness and it's looking like a long day in the dirt for them today.

Timm Van Der Gugten suffered a hamstring injury in the first innings and skipper David Lloyd hasn't appeared on the field today at all. Add to that a flat track and balls which are supposedly not very bowler friendly and you wonder where this game is headed.

Talking of balls, they have changed the ball at least six times in this game. And that appears to be happening every week now. The latest replacement came into use after 36 overs and has been discarded after the 51st. Supposedly new batches of balls are on the way.

In the meantime Scott Borthwick has 72 and Alex Lees 50. Both survived scares before lunch. Their partnership is 113. Borthwick has also passed 10,000 first-class runs in this innings.

  19. Second new ballpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Warwickshire 188-3 v Northants 597-6 dec

Northants have whizzed through seven harmless overs since lunch with few incidents.

Now they have a second new ball in their hands as they try to prise an opening into the Warwickshire middle order.

Gareth Berg, just the 41 years young, to bowl it.

Definitely a more relaxing day for the groundsmen when the sun's out.

Yep, it's even shining brightly at Chester-le-Street.
