  • Eight Championship fixtures, four in each division

  • Middlesex, on top of Division Two, are away to Derbyshire

  1. Brook battingpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Hants v Yorkshire 85-2

That run out of Will Fraine has brought Harry Brook to the crease. The 23-year-old was released by England after they named an unchanged side for the second Test against New Zealand.

And he's off the mark with a lovely straight drive for four.

844 runs at an average of more than 140 for Brook this season. Incredible numbers.

    Kent v Gloucs 133-3

Good work by the Gloucestershire left-hander, who brings up his fourth half-century of the season with a pull to the mid-wicket boundary off Matt Milnes.

That's a 10th boundary for Hammond, who reaches his landmark from 90 balls as he and Glenn Phillips (33 not out) lead the visitors' recovery.

Fraine run out 20 (Hants v Yorkshire 81-2)

That's brilliant from Keith Barker! I'm sure he meant that.

George Hill punches the ball back to the paceman and he deflects it onto the stumps at the non-striker's end with an outstretched palm.

Will Fraine is well out of his crease and gone.

  4. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Hants v Yorkshire 81-1

Yorkshire have batted themselves into a good position at The Ageas Bowl, but Hampshire won't be too displeased as they haven't let them get away.

George Hill is eight runs away from his half-century and Will Fraine has found a bit of fluency in moving to 20.

  5. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Warwickshire 85-3 v Lancashire

Sam Hain and Will Rhodes did a good job of seeing out a tricky period before lunch.

But they've still got plenty of work to do. Another wicket or two and the Bears are in all sorts of trouble.

  6. Robinson awarded Kent county cappublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Kent v Gloucs 114-3

A nice moment for the 23-year-old Kent batter, receiving his county cap on the first morning of the game against Gloucestershire.

Now to try and break this partnership between Miles Hammond and Glenn Phillips, currently standing at 68...

The players are heading back out after lunch. What have the afternoon sessions got in store?

    Time to find out...

  8. Productive morning at Edgbastonpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Warwickshire 83-3 v Lancashire

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire have scored at a decent rate but Lancashire have taken wickets on an overcast morning at Edgbaston.

The bowlers have got the ball to nip about a bit and George Balderson has claimed two victims including the crucial one of Dom Sibley.

The discarded England opener had begun to look a serious threat scoring three boundaries with impressive drives in the space of nine deliveries but getting a faint edge to be caught behind for 28.

Sam Hain and Will Rhodes saw the Bears to the interval. The pair continuing where they left off in the last Championship match in Yorkshire when they batted through the final day to save the game.

  11. Decent start for Durhampublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Durham 100-1 v Worcestershire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham are down in numbers due to England call-ups and injuries so have given debuts to two players today.

New Zealand opener Rachin Ravindra has been signed for just this match and is so far on 44 from 76 balls. He travelled with The Kiwis to the UK but missed out on the Test side so went on holiday to Dublin. That was where he was when Durham gave him a call.

He's added 68 for the second wicket with skipper Scott Borthwick who has 28.

The other Durham debutant is batsman Jonathan Bushnell. He is 21 and a product of Durham School. He has come through the Durham Academy and played for the twos and in the NEPL for the likes of Sacriston.

Worcestershire have given a debut to Taylor Cornall the former Lancashire player who featured for The Red Rose in a one day game against Durham last year.

    Banton b Atkinson 12 (Somerset 49-4 v Surrey)

All four of the Surrey seamers now have a wicket apiece as Gus Atkinson fools Tom Banton with an inswinger.

Banton left the ball alone, but his judgement was off - and so is he now as it careered into his stumps. Surrey continue to turn the screw...

  13. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Kent v Gloucs 85-3

Something of a recovery for Gloucestershire after losing three wickets for 11 earlier this morning, all to Matt Milnes.

Glenn Phillips has looked in decent nick, with successive boundaries off Grant Stewart and he's moved to 24 not out, with Miles Hammond on 19.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Lyth c Donald b Holland 19 (Hants v Yorkshire 51-1)

Adam Lyth tries to drive Ian Holland through the covers but gets an edge and Aneurin Donald snaffles a low chance at gully.

Holland is rewarded for a magnificent spell in which he's only conceded one run in his first six overs.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Sibley c Vilas b Balderson 28 (Warwickshire 59-3 v Lancashire)

Dom Sibley plays a loose drive and snicks George Balderson through to the keeper.

Warwickshire are three down and in a bit of trouble at Edgbaston.

  16. 'Williams impresses on debut'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Warwickshire 59-2 v Lancashire

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Will Williams became Lancashire's 700th first-class cricketer after making his debut at Edgbaston.

The 29-year-old New Zealander has impressed in domestic cricket. Playing for Canterbury in the Plunkett Shield he's taken 116 wickets at an average of 22.90.

He's been playing club cricket in Somerset and has signed a short-term deal with Lancashire. He'll be pleased with his opening spell, conceding just three runs from his first 7 overs.

  17. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Somerset 34-3 v Surrey

Surrey's seamers certainly have a stranglehold on this game at the moment, with Jamie Overton and Gus Atkinson giving Somerset precious few scoring opportunities. Seven of the 18 overs bowled so far have been maidens.

Tom Banton certainly couldn't be accused of going into T20 mode - he's occupied the crease for almost 40 minutes and scored only five so far.

But Banton should have been on his way just now when he edged Overton - and Dan Worrall, diving across at third slip, spilled the chance.

  18. 'Two teams low on confidence'published at 12:17 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Glamorgan v Sussex 67-2

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It’s a meeting of two teams low on confidence in Cardiff after a bruising Friday night for both in T20, with Sussex making a moderate start after being put into bat.

The pitch has been switched from the intended surface but has played fairly well, though Sussex lost Tom Alsop early on trapped lbw by Michael Neser for 6 just after being dropped at slip.

Neser, who was passed fit after recovering from Covid this week, bowled a short four-over opening spell but his replacement James Weighell forced the prolific Tom Haines (10) to edge to keeper Chris Cooke with his first ball.

The third left-handed Tom, Clark, led the recovery as Sussex reached 50 in the 15th over.

Kiwi keeper Tim Seifert is the only overseas player in the visitors’ lineup with Cheteshwara Pujara and Mohammad Rizwan on international duty.

  19. Division Two updatepublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

Middlesex opener Sam Robson is out, but the Division Two leaders are still in decent shape against Derbyshire at Chesterfield on 44-1.

Durham are in a similar position against Worcestershire on 49-1. Michael Jones is the man to go to Charlie Morris for 21.

Sussex have lost both their openers, Tom Alsop and Tom Haines, against Glamorgan. They 53-2.

Leicestershire are now flying against Notts after losing an early wicket. Rishi Patel and Lewis Hill have taken them to 63-1 with a stand of 58.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Abell c Steel b Overton 1 (Somerset 27-3 v Surrey)

It had to happen... Jamie Overton picks up a wicket on his return to Taunton and it's his former Somerset skipper, Tom Abell.

Not exactly an unplayable delivery, short outside off stump - but Abell obligingly carves it straight to Cameron Steel at point.

Lewis Goldsworthy makes his way to the middle to join Tom Banton.
