  1. wicket

    WICKET - Taylor c Burgess b Hannon-Dalby 19published at 15:14 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Northants 422-7 v Warwickshire

Late start, but an early wicket for Warwickshire.

Having for once gone scalpless on Sunday, the Bears' top wicket taker Oliver Hannon-Dalby strikes second ball to get Tom Taylor caught behind.

Simon Kerrigan comes in to join Lewis McManus.

The Bears have 14 overs in this rain-shortened session to try and take the two wickets they need for a third bowling bonus point.

  2. DERBYSHIRE DECLARATIONpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Derbyshire 551-8 dec v Sussex

Derbyshire declare at Hove just after Mark Watt (55) claims his maiden half-century for the county.

Anuj Dal finishes unbeaten on 146, while Wayne Madsen earlier made 176 in a fantastic batting display from the visitors.

Gauntlet laid firmly down to a Sussex side still without a Division Two win this season.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 45-1

Just as Daniel Bell-Drummond got going, he's been stopped in his tracks by the second rain delay of the day at The Oval.

You suspect Kent won't mind, though. Realistically, they can't win this match after Surrey's mammoth first-innings total. A draw is their best hope of a result, barring a miracle.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Pollock c Lloyd b Hogan 5published at 15:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Worcestershire 271 & 5-1, Glamorgan 139

Ed Pollock lasts nine balls longer than he did with his golden duck in the first innings.

But he has once again gone cheaply, following his first boundary by slashing at Michael Hogan like a musketeer outside off stump to be brilliantly caught high to his right at first slip by skipper David Lloyd.

    New man is Azhar Ali.

  5. Jennings in good touchpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337, Lancashire 41-1

Lancashire have recovered well from the loss of Luke Wells to the first ball after lunch.

Keaton Jennings is already on to 27, including five fours, with Josh Bohannon on 9.

Bohannon is certainly due a score.

He hit a career-best 231 when these two sides last met at Old Trafford in April - but his highest score since then is 33, part of an untimely run of low scores, just at the very moment when the sages were starting to discuss his Test prospects.

  6. Denly starts well for Kentpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 40-1

Kent have responded strongly to losing opener Ben Compton.

Joe Denly is playing beautifully, picking out the loose balls and dispatching six boundaries to move on to 32 off 24 balls.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is playing the straight man to Denly's adventurous exploits, finally getting off the mark with a four after 20 deliveries.

  7. wicket

GLAMORGAN ALL OUT FOR 139published at 14:51 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Worcestershire 272, Glamorgan 139

Glamorgan are all out for 139 as Ed Byrom goes for 57.

He chips a catch to Joe Leach at mid on off Dillon Pennington, to leave Michael Hogan with another red asterisk but no runs as he did not face a ball.

A first wicket for Pennington, one also for Charlie Morris and Ed Barnard got two, but the home hero was the returning Joe Leach, who claimed a career-best 6-44. How they have missed him!

The Pears will bat again with a 132-run lead.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Browne c Holland b Dawson 33published at 14:47 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Essex 263 & 105-6 v Hampshire 163

    Ah, the partnership ends.

Nick Browne tries to tickle one down the off side from Liam Dawson but only succeeds in locating Ian Holland at slip.

A decent 33 from the Essex opener that has helped the hosts amass a lead of 180. Anything over 200 will be a tough ask for Hampshire on this track.

  9. Rossington takes chargepublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Essex 263 & 104-5 v Hampshire 163

Adam Rossington has really steadied the ship since joining Nick Browne at the crease and the pair have now brought up their 50 partnership.

Well, not much steadied the ship as spun the steering wheel vigorously while bellowing "full steam ahead!" - he's made 41 of the half-century stand, including three big sixes.

Essex were 51-5 not long ago - they were 56-5 in their first innings before Shane Snater smashed 71. This Rossington innings is going in similar vein.

  10. wicket

    WICKET - Salter c Fell b Barnard 15published at 14:42 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Worcestershire 271, Glamorgan 139-9

Glamorgan lose their ninth wicket as Andrew Salter edges Ed Barnard to slip, where concussion substitute Tom Fell takes a sharp chance.

Two scalps now for in-form England Lions all-rounder Barnard.

New man in is Michael Hogan.

Ed Byrom, on 57, has a chance to carry his bat here.

  11. 3.10 start at Wantage Roadpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Northants 420-6 v Warwickshire

Word from Wantage Road is that they now hope to make a start at 10 past three.

More encouraging news than the one ominous report we'd had from one worried local resident earlier suggesting that we were unlikely to get any play there today.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Compton b S Curran 4published at 14:30 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 9-1

Looks like there is a bit of movement at The Oval after all.

After notching his maiden century with the bat, Sam Curran strikes with the ball too.

Ben Compton decides to leave an in-swinger and it nips in more than he thought it would, hitting leg stump.

  13. In a spin at Chelmsfordpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Essex 238 & 91-5 v Hampshire 163

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

There has been much talk about a lack of opportunities for spinners this season with pitches not breaking up. Here at Chelmsford we have a surface offering spinners turn and bounce but the scoring rate has been good, making for a fine spectacle.

Perfect for Simon Harmer who had to work hard for any success on previous Chelmsford pitches this season. Hampshire tried to be positive but couldn’t prevent him taking their four remaining wickets to finish with 8-46.

He looks certain to more than double his wicket haul for the season in this one match.

That secured Essex a first innings lead of 75 which should prove match winning - but Hampshire's own spinners Felix Organ and Liam Dawson are keeping the visitors in contention.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Ed Byrompublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Worcestershire 271, Glamorgan 132-8

It seemed unthinkable when Glamorgan had reduced Worcestershire to 63-5 on the first morning that, little more than 24 hours later, they might be asked to follow on.

That became a real threat during a painful morning session, in which five wickets went down. But they have now at least avoided that threat.

Opener Ed Byrom's half century was the key factor but Andrew Salter has now joined in the fun with successive boundaries off Charlie Morris.

  15. Kent begin replypublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 4-0

Kent have begun their reply at Chelmsford with Ben Compton and England's Joe Denly opening the batting.

Must be pretty dispiriting to start your first innings knowing you're playing for a draw at best.

Mind you, Kent have conceded 500 or more several times this season so they're kind of used to it.

  16. Inspection due at Wantage Roadpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Northants 420-6 v Warwickshire

We'll hope to bring you news on this shortly . . .

  17. wicket

    WICKET - Moores c Simpson b Murtagh 17published at 14:17 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Notts 407-6 v Middlesex

Second wicket of the day for Tim Murtagh as the ageless former England paceman has Tom Moores caught behind.

New man in to join centurion Lyndon James is Liam Patterson-White.

  18. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Essex 238 & 84-5 v Hampshire 163

Having hit Liam Dawson for six, Adam Rossington has repeated the feat against Felix Organ.

Oh hang on, and another a few balls later.

The Essex wicketkeeper is on 26 off 15 balls.

Their lead is up to 159.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Anuj Dalpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Derbyshire 446-8 v Sussex

Derbyshire are another side racking up the runs and Anuj Dal has his century at Hove.

It's the all-rounder's third first-class ton and has been a very patient knock, coming off 236 balls. Old school.

He's Derbyshire's second centurion of the innings after Wayne Madsen's brilliant 176.

  20. Declaration by Surreypublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent

And once Jacks has his ton, Surrey, unsurprisingly declare.

A daunting task for Kent just to avoid the follow-on at The Oval.
