  1. wicket

WICKET du Plooy c Moores b Paterson 11published at 16:38 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Derbyshire 318 & 233-4 v Nottinghamshire 618-8 dec

Dane Paterson has a second wicket with the new ball as he gets Derbyshire captain Leus du Plooy to nick off.

There are 26 overs after this one, so Notts captain Steven Mullaney may be tempted to stick around for a bit longer to see if they can make things interesting.

  2. Three-way fight for the titlepublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

Play is all wrapped up for the day in Division One where victories for Surrey over fourth-placed Essex, Hampshire at Gloucestershire and Lancashire's narrow four-wicket success at Northampton have made things a bit clearer at the top.

It now looks between those three to be crowned County Champions in September.

    1 Surrey - 187pts

    2 Hampshire - 173

    3 Lancashire - 156

  3. Ouch!published at 16:29 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Derbyshire 318 & 224-3 v Nottinghamshire 618-8 dec

Wayne Madsen is in the wars as he gets hit flush in the nether regions by a sharp one from Dane Paterson.

Madsen needs five minutes to gather himself before he can carry on.

    Ouch!

  4. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 160-8 (lead by 198)

Aristides Karvelas swats Toby Roland-Jones for six but is then clattered on the helmet by another short ball next up.

The physio comes out to provide the standard concussion checks but he's okay to continue.

The Greece international now has 43 to his name - a first-class best score.

  5. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 154-8 (lead by 192)

Steven Finn and Aristides Karvelas have done a fine job for Sussex since tea.

Umesh Yadav and Toby Roland-Jones are steaming in for Middlesex but every dot ball sees the host's chances of victory diminish.

    34 overs remain.

  6. wicket

WICKET Guest lbw b Paterson 14published at 16:14 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Derbyshire 318 & 217-3 v Nottinghamshire 618-8 dec

Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest had added 26 since coming together after tea.

But Guest has been sent packing by Dane Paterson as the South Africa quick gets the new ball to shape in his pads.

Surely Notts can't force a win from this position, though as Derbyshire trail by 83 runs?

  7. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 147-8 (lead by 185)

The final session is under way at Lord's.

38 overs to go - Middlesex will need these final couple of wickets in the next 15 minutes you feel to stand a chance of chasing a target down.

  8. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Leicestershire 584 v Glamorgan 345-5

Those three wickets have put a spring back in Leicestershire's step. Glamorgan do still have Sam Northeast at the crease, 161 not out.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Lenham b Roland-Jones 19published at 15:41 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex 485 v Sussex 523 & 143-8

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for Middlesex once again!

Toby Roland-Jones gets one through Archie Lenham to end a really gutsy 82-ball stay at the crease.

That'll be tea. Sussex go to the break with a lead of 181 and 39 overs remaining.

  10. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex 485 v Sussex 523 & 142-7

It's now exactly an hour since Middlesex last took a wicket.

Sussex lead by 180 with 40 overs remaining in the day.

Any sort of chase the hosts have at Lord's is becoming increasingly out of reach.

  11. No-ball!published at 15:34 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Leicestershire 584 v Glamorgan 336-5

Chris Wright's hat-trick ball to new batter Chris Cooke...

    And it's a no-ball!

Those two wickets do mean though that Glamorgan still need 99 to avoid a possible follow-on, and remember this is day three in this match.

  12. wicket

WICKET Root c Ackermann b Wright 0published at 15:28 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Leicestershire 584 v Glamorgan 334-5

Two in two balls for Chris Wright!!

Billy Root comes and goes straight away, as Wright gets one to move away from him and the batter edges to Colin Ackermann at first slip.

  13. wicket

WICKET Carlson b Wright 9published at 15:26 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Leicestershire 584 v Glamorgan 334-4

  14. wicket

    WICKET Reece c Mullaney b Patterson-White 86published at 15:25 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Derbyshire 318 & 191-2 v Nottinghamshire 618-8 dec

A dismissal right on the stroke of tea.

Luis Reece falls 14 short of a maiden century of the summer as he edges the spin of Liam Patterson-White to slip.

He had batted well, occupying 237 balls, but does that offer Notts a sniff after the interval?

  15. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

    Middlesex 485 v Sussex 523 & 134-7

Sussex have fought back really well over the past 30 minutes.

Archie Lenham and debutant Aristides Karvelas have put on 38 for the eighth wicket and the Sussex lead has grown to 172.

Middlesex need to wrap up the tail quickly and get the chase going.

  16. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

So, that's all five matches in Division One finished.

Over to Division Two where three games remain...

  17. HAMPSHIRE BEAT GLOUCESTERSHIREpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 22 July 2022
    Breaking

    Hants (457 & 82-4) beat Gloucs (201 & 337) by six wickets

Liam Dawson cracks a couple of fours off Zafar Gohar and Hampshire have chased their target of 82 inside 10 overs.

But with rain approaching Cheltenham they couldn't hang around.

Hants take 23 points from the game and are 14 points behind leaders Surrey.

  18. SOMERSET DRAW WITH YORKSHIREpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 22 July 2022
    Breaking

    Somerset (424 & 225-6) draw with Yorkshire (276)

With rain still falling and a big mop up job required at Taunton, play has been abandoned.

A cracking final day had been in store with Somerset leading by 373, but it wasn't to be.

The result leaves Somerset in the bottom two in Division One, while for Yorkshire it's a sixth draw in nine games.

    Gloucestershire 201 & 337 v Hampshire 457 & 70-4

James Fuller plays on and Ryan Higgins has a third wicket.

The wickets are almost irrelevant though, as Hampshire are pressing to get these 12 runs as fast as they can.

  20. wicket

    Gloucestershire 201 & 337 v Hampshire 457 & 64-3

Nick Gubbins goes for a big shot and holes out in the deep.

Keith Barker is sent in to complete the job.
