  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Bracey c Young b Keogh 79 (Glos 298-7 v Northants)

It looked as though a century was there for the taking - but it's not to be for James Bracey.

The left-hander hits out at Rob Keogh and miscues to cover, where Will Young takes the catch.

Keogh now has three wickets in this Gloucestershire innings.

  2. wicket

WICKET - Jones lbw Saini 0published at 17:22 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 97-4 v Kent

Rob Jones has gone first ball!!!

    Navdeep Saini on a hat-trick!

He will have to wait a over as that was the final two balls of that over.

New man in is Washington Sundar, one of Lancashire's batting heroes at Northampton last week.

But these are very trying conditions.

Wind blowing, rain around, lights on.

  3. wicket

    WICKET - Wells c Leaning b Saini 35published at 17:20 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 97-3 v Kent

Kent claim a third wicket as Luke Wells survives a near miss before being caught in the gully by Jack Leaning off Navdeep Saini.

    And there's worse . . .

  4. wicket

    Haynes c Guest b Conners 48 (Worcs 120-4 v Derbys 130)

Vital wicket for Derbyshire - and it's Sam Conners who collects his third of the innings by having Jack Haynes caught behind.

Haynes departs just two short of his half-century, having added 97 for the fourth wicket with Kashif Ali and Worcestershire trail the visitors by just 10.

  5. 100 runs

Century for Nick Brownepublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Essex 233-3 v Somerset

Nick Browne becomes the first centurion in this latest round of County Championship fixtures.

It has taken over five hours (and an interminable amount of time on 99) but he has made it now, after 228 balls.

Including 15 boundaries, it is his first ton since hitting 107 against Kent in the opening round of Championship fixtures in April.

Paul Walter, at the other end, has so far hit four fours and a six in his 37.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Rhodes c Foakes b McKerr 34 (Surrey v Warwicks 180-6)

Will Rhodes had dug in so well, occupying the crease for almost two hours - but then his composure deserts him and it costs him his wicket.

The Warwickshire skipper swings carelessly at a wide ball from Conor McKerr, who picks up his second wicket as Ben Foakes gathers the thick edge.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Higgins lbw b Keogh 50 (Glos 277-6 v Northants)

Ryan Higgins reaches his half-century from 78 balls, crashing Rob Keogh to the boundary - and the next one sees the Gloucestershire all-rounder adjudged lbw as he attempts to sweep!

That much-needed wicket for the visitors ends a partnership of 111 with James Bracey, who's still there on 71 and is now joined by Zafar Gohar.

  8. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 158-8 v Hampshire

That's it for the day in North Yorkshire as umpires Peter Hartley and Neil Mallender call off play for the day at Scarborough.

That teatime cloudburst always looked like it might prove terminal.

  9. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Surrey v Warwicks 170-5

Warwickshire's innings has tended to progress in fits and starts today and that pattern continues as Nathan McAndrew strikes successive fours off Tom Lawes - the latter a crisp, well-timed punch through the covers.

McAndrew took a whack on the helmet misjudging a Jamie Overton bouncer before he had scored, but was able to continue and he's on nine, with Will Rhodes 30 not out at the other end.

  10. Teatime at Old Traffordpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 76-2 v Kent

Lancashire go to tea on 76-2 after getting in 24 overs following the delayed 3.00 start to this game in Manchester.

    Honours about even.

Kent got rid of Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon, but Luke Wells look sswt on 27, having just been joined by stand-in skipper Steven Croft.

It is still not a pleasant day in Manchester, rather blustery. And umpires Graham Lloyd and Neil Pratt were having a good look overhead before they disappeared to the pavilion for a quick cuppa.

  11. 200 runs

200 up for Essexpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Essex 201-3 v Somerset

Essex claim their first batting point as they go past 200, with opener Nick Browne close to a first century since the opening game of the season.

  12. Close of play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Durham 132-0 v Middlesex

It's continued to rain at the Riverside ever since the players went off - and unfortunately they won't be returning today.

Let's hope for better weather tomorrow, when Durham will resume at 132 without loss against Middlesex.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Burgess c Foakes b Overton 22 (Surrey v Warwicks 149-5)

Perfect start to the evening session for Surrey!

Jamie Overton fires one in with pace and bounce and Michael Burgess can only tickle it through to the wicketkeeper.

That brings Nathan McAndrew to the middle for the Bears.

  14. wicket

    WICKET - Bohannon c Leaning b Gilchrist 27published at 16:24 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 68-2 v Kent

Brilliant catch from Jack Leaning to get rid of Josh Bohannon.

Fresh from his match-winning century for Lancs at Northampton last week, Bohannon had been looking very fluent, hitting four boundaries.

But he goes for another attacking shot off Nathan Gilchrist, and picks out Leaning in the gully, where the former Yorkshire player takes a stunning one-handed catch.

New man in is veteran Steve Croft, who is captaining Lancs in this match in the absence of injured skipper Dane Vilas.

  16. Tea at Cheltenhampublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Glos 250-5 v Northants

James Bracey (60 not out) and Ryan Higgins (37no) have hauled Gloucestershire out of a tricky spot, with an unbroken partnership of 84 during the afternoon session.

Chris Dent (54) was caught at second slip off Ben Sanderson just after reaching his half-century and Northamptonshire then claimed the wickets of Miles Hammond and Graeme van Buuren as well.

But they've been unable to apply the brakes to the sixth-wicket pair, who are scoring at a good rate and have already secured Gloucestershire's second batting point.

  17. rain stops play

More rain at Scarboroughpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 158-8 v Hampshire

Looks like a significantly delayed restart at Scarborough following teatime rain.

  18. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Surrey v Warwicks 144-4

Another attritional session for the batting side, but they've managed to get through it for the loss of just two more wickets.

Bears captain Will Rhodes is on 21, with Michael Burgess 18. Tom Lawes, with 2-15 from 12 overs, continues to impress with the ball for Surrey.

  19. wicket

WICKETSpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Worcs 23-3 v Derbys 130

Worcestershire have made a brisk start in reply to Derbyshire's 130 - but they've lost three wickets already inside five overs!

Sam Conners produced a snorter to remove Jake Libby's off stump and has just had Taylor Cornall caught behind as well.

In between those dismissals, Ed Pollock was also caught behind off Ben Aitchison for 15. Game on!

Gloucestershire have regained the initiative since that fifth wicket went down, led by a welcome half-century from James Bracey.

Bracey gets there from 82 balls and he's added 64 so far with Ryan Higgins, who is in typically pugnacious mood, slamming Simon Kerrigan for six in the previous over.
