  1. wicket

    WICKET - Lawrence c Gregory b Renshaw 35published at 15:49 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Essex 166-3 v Somerset

No sooner than Dan Lawrence has helped Nick Browne complete a half-century partnership than he is gone, for 35.

It's a first wicket for Matt Renshaw, who was no more than a part-time spinner until a few weeks ago, having previously taken just five wickets in his career - but the Middlesbrough-born Australian has now doubled that tally in the space of Somerset's last three matches.

Tea is also taken at Chelmsford.

  2. wicket

    WICKET - Bess c Dawson b Abbott 67published at 15:47 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 158-8 v Hampshire

    How often does that happen?

    One goes. The other follows.

Dom Bess departs on the stroke of tea.

And Kyle Abbott has a fourth wicket.

They have now gone to tea, by the way.

  3. wicket

    WICKET - Jennings c Crawley b Saini 14published at 15:43 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 24-1 v Kent

Navdeep Saini makes a breakthrough for Kent in the 10th over as finds the edge - and Keaton Jennings is caught at slip.

Good work from Kent after the delayed 3.00 start.

New man in is Josh Bohannon.

  4. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Surrey v Warwicks 120-4

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Warwickshire get the scoreboard creaking into action again.

Having barely scored a run since the loss of Sam Hain, the Bears climb into Conor McKerr, taking 12 off a single over.

Mind you, that tally included slices over the slips for four by both Will Rhodes and Michael Burgess.

  5. wicket

    WICKET - Fraine c Weatherley b Abbott 53published at 15:31 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 149-7 v Hampshire

Finally a breakthrough for Hampshire as Will Fraine attempts to hook Kyle Abbott and instead gloves a catch to Joe Weatherley who leaps to take a one-handed catch.

New man in Jordan Thompson, a handy bat to be coming in at seven down, to join Dom Bess, who is on 64.

Very good effort from Bess and Fraine, who have more than quadrupled the Yorkshire score from 33-6.

  6. Derbyshire dismissed for 130published at 15:22 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Worcs v Derbys 130

Pakistan international Muhammad Hasnain wraps up the Derbyshire innings with the final two wickets on his Worcestershire debut.

Hasnain bowls Sam Conners before taking out Anuj Dal, top-scoring with 55 to at least lift the Derbyshire total into three figures - which looked unlikely when they collapsed to 14-5 this morning.

Dillon Pennington finishes with 4-36 and Ed Barnard 3-18.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Hain c Pope b Clark 27 (Surrey v Warwicks 107-4)

Ollie Pope - cool as a cucumber!

The Surrey second slip initially fumbles the edge from Sam Hain, but recovers to stick out one hand and pluck the loose ball out of the air as his team-mates darted towards it.

It's a first wicket of the day for Jordan Clark and a big blow for the Bears, who are so reliant on Hain for runs at the moment.

  8. Underway at last in Manchesterpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Lancashire 2-0 (3 overs) v Kent

After the delayed start at Old Trafford, Kent won the toss and put Lancashire in - and openers Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells have made a typically solid start against Matt Henry and Navdeep Saini.

  9. 50 runs

Half-century for Dom Besspublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 136-6 v Hampshire

And he is quickly followed to his 50 by Dom Bess as their century stand for the seventh wicket also comes up.

for Anuj Dalpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Worcs v Derbys 125-8

It hasn't exactly been a memorable batting display by Derbyshire, but credit to Anuj Dal, who has given the innings some semblance of respectability.

Dal brings up his 50 from 104 balls, having added 56 for the eighth wicket with Ben Aitchison before he became the third victim of the day for Ed Barnard.

  11. 50 runs

Half-century for Will Frainepublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 131-6 v Hampshire

Will Fraine is the first of the two Yorkshire seventh-wicket partners to reach his 50 . . .

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Van Buuren c Kerrigan b Keogh 14 (Glos 167-5 v Northants)

Just as Gloucestershire seemed to be finding some momentum at Cheltenham, they're pegged back by a wicket.

Rob Keogh is fast becoming a spinner who probably needs to shed the 'part-time' tag and he strikes here for Northamptonshire, persuading Graeme van Buuren to slap one straight to cover.

Gloucestershire have Ryan Higgins at the crease now.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Durham 132-0 v Middlesex

As forecast by BBC Radio Newcastle's 'Mystic' Martin Emmerson, the rain has now arrived at Chester-le-Street and the players are off.

Middlesex will probably be happier about that than Durham, having failed to take a wicket so far. Michael Jones is 78 not out for the home side, with Alex Lees on 46.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Sibley c Foakes b Lawes 43 (Surrey v Warwicks 101-3)

There's the breakthrough for Surrey and it's a beauty from Tom Lawes!

The young seamer has bowled consistently today and he finds a bit of extra bounce, with Dom Sibley hanging the bat out for a thin edge that sails through to Ben Foakes.

Bears captain Will Rhodes comes out to join Sam Hain.

  15. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Surrey v Warwicks 96-2

Surrey haven't managed to pick up any more wickets since lunch, but their bowlers are certainly keeping Warwickshire under a tight rein at the Oval.

Only 25 runs have been added in the first hour of the afternoon session, with Dom Sibley advancing to 42 and Sam Hain on 19.

  16. 100 runs

Yorkshire hundred uppublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Yorkshire 104-6 v Hampshire

Now starting to amount to a good recovery by Yorkshire.

Even the squawking Scarborough seagulls overhead are starting to sound more cheerful as Will Fraine (42) and Dom Bess (35) ease their side to three figures.

That didn't look too likely at 33-6. Fraine and Bess have now more than tripled the Tykes score.

Hampshire have turned to James Fuller and Ian Holland in a bid to get to get the wickets tally moving on the scoreboard again.

Five seamers tried to date - but spinner Liam Dawson is yet to have a trundle.

  17. 100-run Durham opening standpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Durham 122-0 v Middlesex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Middlesex put Durham in to bat in humid conditions this morning and, although the track has a green tinge to it, the ball has not moved around the way the visiting bowlers would have liked.

Michael Jones, who has reached the fifth half century of his first-class career, has 64 and England opener Alex Lees 44.

It is the fifth time a Durham opening stand has reached 100 this season.

It remains warm at the Riverside. But slowly sneaking towards us is a massive black cloud which, if it unleashes its load, could take us off for the rest of the afternoon. Storms are forecast and it is raining nearby.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Hammond c McManus b Taylor 25 (Glos 126-4 v Northants)

Suddenly, Northamptonshire are getting on top with the ball...

They've now removed both of the batters who were set at lunch, with Miles Hammond prodding forward to Tom Taylor and Lewis McManus takes the catch behind the stumps.

Gloucestershire could do with a captain's knock from Graeme van Buuren, who is out in the middle now alongside James Bracey.

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Westley c Gregory b C Overton 4published at 14:27 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Essex 110-2 v Yorkshire

Seven balls later . . . and Somerset strike again!

Tom Westley gets off the mark with a boundary and is then snared by Craig Overton, who has him caught at slip.

New man Dan Lawrence comes in to join half-centurion Nick Browne.

  20. wicket

WICKET - Cook lbw b Siddle 44published at 14:17 British Summer Time 25 July 2022

    Essex 105-1 v Somerset

No he won't! No 50 for Sir Alastair Cook!

Finally, a breakthrough for Somerset as Peter Siddle traps his fellow 37-year-old leg before wicket.

Essex skipper Tom Westley comes in to replace the former England captain.
