  1. 100 runs

for John Simpsonpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Durham 421-7 dec v Middlesex 342-7

John Simpson (Middlesex)Image source, Rex Features

    Back-to-back centuries for John Simpson!

For the second week running, Simpson has batted Middlesex out of a sticky spot - they were 122-4 when he came to the crease against Durham - and he brings up his 10th first-class hundred from 138 balls.

Middlesex have the deficit down to 79 now and you'd probably bet on this heading for a draw tomorrow at the Riverside.

  2. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Surrey 316 v Warwicks 253 & 259-4

At the moment, it's certainly been Warwickshire's day at the Oval.

After those two early wickets, the Bears have applied themselves well and now find themselves almost 200 in front.

Sam Hain is 77 not out and Will Rhodes 72, with the partnership now 116. Nine overs remaining tonight.

  3. Bad light stops play at Cheltenhampublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Glos 317 & 135-5 v Northants 479

It's dimmed a little overhead at Cheltenham and the Gloucestershire batters have eagerly taken the opportunity to head off.

Rather less enthusiastic is Northants skipper Will Young, who engages in discussion with the umpires before reluctantly leaving the field as well.

Of course, the light could improve and Northamptonshire will hope it does, given they only need five wickets for victory as it stands. Technically, there are 15 overs left to be bowled tonight.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Croft b Henry 41published at 17:28 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Lancashire 280-3 v Kent

Lancashire lose their third wicket as Matt Henry makes the new ball count.

Steven Croft is bowled for 41 to end his stand of 109 with centurion Josh Bohannon (117).

After taking 5-45 in 18 overs in the first innings, Henry has taken until the 17th over to get his first second-innings wicket.

They lead Kent by 155 runs with 7 wickets remaining - and that becomes 159 when Rob Jones, out for a golden duck in the first innings, immediately gets off the mark with a four.

23 overs remain in the day.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Bracey b Keogh 23 (Glos 317 & 132-5 v Northants 479)

    Rob Keogh (Northants)Image source, Rex

Rob Keogh has developed the knack of taking key wickets - and the Northamptonshire off-spinner has done it again!

His first ball of the innings foxes James Bracey, who is clean bowled for 23 and Gloucestershire are still 30 behind with five wickets down.

At this rate, we might see Northants asking for the extra half-hour tonight.

  6. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

It looks as though we might have to wait until tomorrow for a finish at New Road, where the players are off again for bad light.

Derbyshire are still clear favourites, but Worcestershire have a sniff of a chance at 108-5, with Jack Haynes unbeaten on 23. The target of 289 still looks a long way off.

Middlesex's John Simpson is still going strong at the Riverside, with 74 not out as the visitors claw the first-innings deficit against Durham back to 112, at 309-7.

Nottinghamshire are building a sizeable advantage against Sussex at Trent Bridge, reaching 232-6 in their second innings - a lead of 329 with more than two days still remaining.

  7. 100 runs

Josh Bohannon completes centurypublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 265-2, Kent 270

Josh Bohannon has made a second second-innings century in successive matches.

He has got to 100, accompanied by Steven Croft (39) in a stand so far worth 84.

    Lancashire now lead by 140.

Josh Bohannon hit his third Championship century of the season

Bohannon's ton at Wantage Road last week went a long way to securing Lancashire an unlikely come-from-behind victory.

Can it inspire another one? Or is this pitch now too good for Kent to get bowled out on cheaply?

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Harris b Kerrigan 62 (Glos 317 & 122-4 v Northants 479)

    Big, big wicket for Northamptonshire!

Simon Kerrigan floats one up to tempt Marcus Harris and the ball clips his leg stump.

That brings Gloucestershire skipper Graeme van Buuren to the wicket with his side still needing 40 more to make the visitors bat again.

  9. 50 runs

for Will Rhodespublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Surrey 316 v Warwicks 253 & 226-4

Well, well... now Warwickshire have two batters past 50 in the match! And they're the two who are at the crease right now.

Skipper Will Rhodes joins Sam Hain by bringing up his half-century from 71 balls and the pair have now shared a partnership of 83 to steer the Bears into an overall lead of 163.

The new ball is due after one more over and it's hard to imagine Surrey won't take that at the earliest opportunity.

  10. wicket

    WICKET - Tattersall c Holland b Abbas 63published at 17:01 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 210-6, Hampshire 218

    Mohammad Abbas strikes again.

Jonny Tattersall miscues to the gully - and Ian Holland takes the catch.

First-innings 50-maker Dom Bess comes in to join Matthew Revis.

  11. wicket

    WICKET - Renshaw c sub (Buttleman) b Beard 146published at 16:58 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Somerset 324-3 (104.1 overs)

Matt Renshaw is finally out, caught behind off Adam Beard by reserve wicketkeeper Will Buttleman, who is on deputising for Adam Rossington, who suffered a painful suspected broken finger yesterday.

Renshaw's marathon lasted 393 minutes. And 313 balls, only 17 of which were despatched to the boundary.

Only the second wicket of the day. Still six overs to try and claim another batting point? Or is that fanciful talk for a team surely more intent on saving the game?

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Waite b Abbas 47published at 16:39 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 197-5, Hampshire 218

Hampshire make a post-tea breakthrough at Scarborough.

Mohammad Abbas takes his second wicket of the innings as he arcs one back in from outside off-stump to bowl Matthew Waite all ends up for 47 and put a stop to his 78-run stand with Jonny Tattersall.

Matthew Revis has come in next for Yorkshire.

  13. 50 runs

    Glos 317 & 90-3 v Northants 479

Marcus Harris (Gloucs)Image source, Getty Images

It's been a while since Marcus Harris reached 50 - the last time was in April, against Lancashire at Old Trafford.

Gloucestershire will be grateful to see the left-hander do it again, from 67 balls, as they try to wipe off the remaining deficit of 72 against Northamptonshire.

  14. Scoreboards working againpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

The technical gurus have done their work - and we now have eight fully functioning cricket scorecards on BBC Sport again.

Thanks to all involved for sorting.

No lives were lost. Plenty of wickets were though!

    Hope we've caught up now!

  16. Tea at the Riversidepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Durham 421-7 dec, Middlesex 252-6 (81.3 overs)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham have Middlesex six down at the end of the second session, having bowled very tightly throughout much of the day - the visitors only scored 15 in the first hour (and three in the first 45 minutes!)

Although 18-year-old Stanley McAlindon enjoyed two wicket-maidens, he became a bit of a sacrificial lamb in the afternoon, clearly instructed to bang it in short. The batsmen took him on and started to score runs.

It took the pressure off Middlesex for a while with Pieter Malan and Max Holden quickly adding 50 for the fourth wicket before Holden and John Simpson put 79 on for the fifth. The plan was then abandoned and Durham started to tie their opponents down again, taking two wickets in the run-up to tea.

Skipper Scott Borthwick had Holden caught at first slip for 47 and Luke Hollman was the victim of a grave error of judgement. He left one from Matty Potts which took out his off-stump when he was on 25.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Hammond lbw b Taylor 17 (Glos 317 & 83-3 v Northants 479)

Just the start Northamptonshire were after in the evening session as Tom Taylor collects his second wicket of this Gloucestershire second innings!

Taylor, coming around the wicket, traps Miles Hammond in front of the stumps and the umpire's finger is raised.

James Bracey comes in to join Marcus Harris.

  18. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Surrey 316 v Warwicks 253 & 183-4

Sam Hain (Warwicks)Image source, Getty Images

Finally! A Warwickshire player has managed to get through the 40s and register a half-century - it's Sam Hain who breaks the mould, in the first over after tea.

Hain succeeds where three other Bears hadn't in this match, getting to 50 from 105 balls.

It's the seventh time this season he's reached 50, converting three of them to hundreds. Warwickshire wouldn't mind another of those here...

  19. Tea at Scarboroughpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 185-4, Hampshire 218

Yorkshire lead by 126 at tea, thanks to a growing 66-run fifth-wicket stand between Jonny Tattersall and Matthew Waite.

Plenty of fight left in the Tykes clearly.

  20. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 231-2, Kent 270

Lancashire lead by 106 at tea, with Josh Bohannon on 84 and skipper Steven Croft on 19.

122 in the session, for the loss of only luckless Luke Wells for 98.
