  1. wicket

WICKET Burns lbw b Sanderson 10published at 12:28 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 20-1

Rory Burns may now wish he had not had a 47-day gap between innings.

The Surrey captain tries to work a Ben Sanderson ball to leg, but he is hit on the pads and given out by umpire Graham Lloyd.

Burns would definitely have reviewed if that was available as that was borderline as to whether it pitched outside leg.

  2. wicket

    WICKET - Sibley c Rew b Gregory 5published at 12:25 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 22-3

A third wicket goes down at Edgbaston - and the invariably hard-to-shift Dom Sibley is the man to go.

Lewis Gregory gets his second wicket as he forces Sibely to play at one which moves and the Bears opener edges a third catch to Somerset wicketkeeper James Rew.

Warwickshire skipper Will Rhodes come in to join Sam Hain.

  3. Pollock and Libby in the groove at Hovepublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 165-0

They are back playing again at Hove after a short rain break - and there is no stopping Worcestershire's Ed Pollock and Jake Libby.

They have moved their opening stand on to 165-0 - their best partnership together.

Pollock is on 89 and Libby on 69.

  4. Strength is with the batpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 15-0

Surrey's bowlers did their job this morning. Now it is up to the batters.

This has been the strength of their season with five more batting points than any other side while they have never scored fewer than 308 in the first innings of their 11 games.

They have also had 13 centuries, so they will want to bat long again.

Rory Burns helps himself to two fours off Jack White's opening over, before stand-in wicketkeeper Ricardo Vasconcelos then concedes four byes in a profitable over for the visitors.

  5. Burns up and runningpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 3-0

    Surrey begin their innings.

Ben Sanderson opens with a no-ball before Rory Burns scampers a single off the first legitimate delivery.

This is Burns' first bat since 28 July. The Surrey captain is obviously no longer part of the England Test set-up, he does not play in The Hundred and he was rested for Surrey's One-Day Cup fixtures.

The vagaries of the current schedule.

  6. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 184-4

An early lunch is taken at Lord's after a rain break.

Middlesex now trail Glamorgan by just 30.

Mark Stoneman is just four short of a century on 96, with overnight partner John Simpson still there too on 41.

Since coming together on 92-4 last night, they have now doubled the score to 184-4, of which 48 runs have come in this truncated morning session.

  7. wicket

NORTHANTS ALL OUT AT WANTAGE ROADpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey

Ben Sanderson doesn't have much confidence in last man Jack White as he tries a huge heave off the first ball of Dan Worrall's over and he skews it out to deep cover for a simple catch.

Surrey have taken 6-90 this morning. Include the wicket of Emilio Gay last night and that is 7-90 as they have collected the maximum three bowling points.

No doubt who the star was - Kemar Roach's final figures: 20-1-95-5. A proper strike bowler.

  8. Five-wicket haul for Kemar Roachpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339-9 v Surrey

    Kemar Roach has five!

With just numbers 10 and 11 for company now, Rob Keogh is forced to take risks. He had already taken six off Roach's over but his luck runs out as he holes out at deep midwicket.

An excellent knock from Keogh, with 180 balls faced and 15 fours.

  9. wicket

WICKET A Cook lbw b Patterson 23published at 11:54 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 v Essex 50-3

Sir Alastair Cook has had problems with Steve Patterson before and the Yorkshire man has continued to cause him prolems.

Coming round the wicket, Patterson induces a false shot from the cricketing knight and Cook is trapped in front.

  10. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 184-4

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Mark Stoneman and John Simpson have batted Middlesex into a strong position against promotion rivals Glamorgan as they accumulated quietly through the first hour of day two.

They played and missed in the early overs against Timm van der Gugten but did not offer any opportunities to the fielding side as Stoneman moved into the nineties.

James Harris and David Lloyd both started bowling tight lines, but could not make the breakthrough their side badly needed.

Middlesex will be keen to get into the lead by lunch, with the floodlights on early and a poor weather forecast for the afternoon.

  11. wicket

    WICKET - Davies c Rew b Gregory 9published at 11:48 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 13-2

A second Somerset wicket as Alex Davies also fails.

Also caught behind, a second catch for James Rew - and a first wicket for Lewis Gregory, who seems to have put yesterday's reported knee injury behind him.

Bears top man Sam Hain is next in.

Hain began this week needing only another 46 runs to reach his 1,000 first-class runs for the first time. But personal milestones will be the last thing on the England Lions man's mind right now.

The Bears' top-flight survival is now back top of the agenda.

  12. wicket

WICKET Westley lbw b Thompson 20published at 11:40 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 v Essex 44-2

Jordan Thompson does it again for Yorkshire.

Tom Westley had become somewhat becalmed after four early boundaries and he is given out LBW as he tries to turn one from Thompson into the onside.

  13. wicket

WICKET Williams lbw b Roach 0published at 11:37 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 312-8 v Surrey

There are few better strike bowlers around than Kemar Roach.

The West Indies quick thuds one into the pads of South Africa bowler Lizaad Williams and the finger of umpire Graham Lloyd goes up.

Roach has struck twice with the new ball and now has 4-76.

  14. Matty Potts in the wickets at Leicesterpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Leicestershire 128-6 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

A total of 58 overs have been lost in this game following rain on day one but Durham are making up for lost time.

Leicestershire were 97-2 overnight but have lost four wickets for 28 runs in today's early exchanges.

In his first four overs yesterday, England fast bowler Matty Potts took 0-20.

He now has figures of 3-26, having seen off Rishi Patel just before the close yesterday for 5. His two victims this morning have been Louis Kimber (2) and Harry Swindells (1), both from inswingers edged to the keeper.

  15. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

Worcestershire openers Ed Pollock and Jake Libby have been warming to their task at Hove

Libby was first to his 50, but Pollock is now looking more like his usual self, having raced past his half century to 73, to help the promotion-chasing Pears move to 140-0, in reply to fthe 220 posted by Sussex.

But that's it for the moment on the South Coast as the forecast rain has arrived - and they have now gone off.

Middlesex are also going well at Lord's, in reply to the 214 from Glamorgan on day one.

Mark Stonenman (91) and John Simpson (35) have moved the hosts' total on to 173-4.

Meanwhile, at Leicester, in the Leicestershire-Durham game, BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson has news . . .

  16. wicket

WICKET Sales c Geddes b Roach 7published at 11:28 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 310-7 v Surrey

Kemar Roach strikes in his second over with the new ball.

He induces a drive from James Sales which goes straight to Ben Geddes at extra cover.

Surrey will be sensing getting through the Northants tail by lunch now.

  17. wicket

    WICKET - Yates c Rew b Davey 0published at 11:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 0-1

Awful start for Warwickshire at Edgbaston in reply to Somerset's 219 as Rob Yates goes third ball.

Promoted back up the order in a bid to improve his poor Championship form, having been dropped back to number three in the order to accommodate the winter arrival of Alex Davies, Yates draws another blank.

After hitting five centuries in red-ball cricket last summer to even be talked about as a possible England hopeful, Yates has a top score of 55 this time round, having made just 141 in seven matches - and that is his second duck in three innings.

Davies is the new man in to join Dom Sibley.

  18. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 v Essex 41-1

Tom Westley has slowed down after that early flurry, but he and Sir Alastair Cook are still in, with their partnership up to 40 after the loss of Nick Browne.

After yesterday's rain, we are due 104 overs today at Headingley if the weather holds up.

  19. 100 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 307-6 v Surrey

Kemar Roach's first ball with the new cherry is wide and Rob Keogh sends it to the fence to bring up his century.

A third of the season for Keogh, it has come off 153 balls and featured 13 fours.

The second of the innings for Northants after Emilio Gay's 145 yesterday.

  20. New ball takenpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 303-6 v Surrey

No surprise here as Kemar Roach walks straight up to take the new ball for Surrey.

James Sales had clubbed a Cameron Steel full toss for four off the previous over to bring up the 300 and secure the third batting point.

Northants are slowly but surely accumulating the points to guarantee another season of Division One cricket.
