    Surrey 333 v Yorks 36-1

Fin Bean is living a bit of a charmed life at the Oval, but partner George Hill flicks a wayward Jordan Clark delivery fine for four as he advances to 18 not out. Overhead conditions are brighter and that is good news for the Yorkshire batters.

  2. wicket

WICKET Cook b Balderson 14published at 12:17 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 & 28-2 v Lancs 131 & 73

    The big wicket for Lancashire!

It's a slice of good fortune for George Balderson - he's half-heartedly appealing for LBW, but the ball rolls back off Alastair Cook's pads and knocks off the leg bail.

  3. Division Two updatepublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

Scott Borthwick has reached his seventh 50 of the season and Durham are 145-1, just 18 runs short of a first-innings lead against Sussex at the Riverside.

David Lloyd is now 267 not out with Glamorgan 480-5 against Derbyshire at Sophia Gardens.

Toby Roland-Jones has taken two wickets and Leicestershire have slumped to 53-4, replying to 297 all out by Middlesex.

  4. Notts batting at New Roadpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 390 v Notts 0-0

Ben Slater takes first strike and he opens with Haseeb Hameed.

Dillon Pennington has the new ball.

This could be a tricky mini session of play.

  5. wicket

WICKET Dent lbw b Yadavpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs 62-3 v Warwks 274

Four more runs for Chris Dent as the Gloucester opener carves Brookes away through backward point.

At the other end Hammond is beaten outside off stump by Yadav but he gets away with a single off the next ball.

Out! Yadav tosses the ball up - Dent is squared up and trapped on the crease.

This looks like a more than handy first innings score for the Bears on a pitch that is turning.

    Hampshire 57 v Kent 165 & 135-6

  7. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Somerset 349-7 v Northants

Josh Davey tries a reverse sweep. He doesn't middle it but a top edge is good enough to bring him four runs off Rob Keogh. He is nine not out and Lewis Gregory has 25.

  8. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 333 v Yorks 32-1

Time for Kemar Roach to take a breather after a six-over spell of 1-11.

    Worcs 390 v Notts

    Ahem...and that's it. 390 after slumping to 99-5!

Ben Gibbon hooks again and his cameo ends after a good catch held just off the turf by Montgomery at backward square leg off the bowling of Brett Hutton.

    He finishes with 3-86.

Gibbon walks off with a career best 20 - and Josh Tongue is stranded on his own personal best of 45 not out.

    Well, now I've seen everything.

Brett Hutton drops short and the Pears number 11 hooks it over backward square leg for six!

His previous highest score at this level is only 9!

    He's got 20.

Magnificent effort by David Lloyd, who pulls a short ball from Alex Thomson for four to reach 250 off 338 balls.

It is the 35th boundary of his epic innings and he also has one six.

This is now the seventh highest score for Glamorgan - Steve James' 259 not out against Notts at Colwyn Bay in 1999 is his next target.

  13. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs 54-2 v Warwks 274

Yadav is driven pleasantly through the covers by Hammond for four to take Gloucester past 50.

A single off the fourth and Dent defends.

  14. Postpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 & 19-0 v Lancs 131 & 73

Vintage Alastair Cook as he rocks back and cuts Tom Bailey for four.

Earlier in the over, Bailey twice beat the outside edge.

  15. Lloyd sets Cardiff recordspublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Glamorgan 454-5 v Derbys

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan captain David Lloyd has set two records on day two against Derbyshire despite losing two partners quickly at the other end.

Lloyd moved past the highest Glamorgan score at Sophia Gardens, previously 233 by club CEO Hugh Morris, and the highest Glamorgan score against Derbyshire, 234 by Aneurin Donald at Colwyn Bay.

Derbyshire kept things tight in the first session with Sam Conners trapping Billy Root lbw for 79 and the persevering Anuj Dal having Chris Cooke caught at mid-wicket for seven.

But they managed just one bowling point, with seamer Ben Aitchison unlikely to bowl again in the match after twisting an ankle in the very first over of the game.

Glamorgan, who picked maximum batting points, could now consider a declaration decision in the afternoon session as both teams chase second-placed Middlesex in the promotion hunt.

  16. wicket

WICKET Overton st Vasconcelos b Keogh 13published at 11:54 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Somerset 334-7 v Northants

Somerset have to settle for three batting points but are now intent on pushing this total as far as possible.

Craig Overton pulls away a short ball from Rob Keogh for four but comes down the pitch to the next delivery, misses a head-up slog as the ball spins back into him and it's a comfortable stumping for Ricardo Vasconcelos.

  17. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs 45-2 v Warwks 274

Hannon-Dalby is a little wayward in his 5th over and Miles Hammond turns a leg side ball through to fine leg for four.

He picks up four more with a cover drive as the bowler pushes the ball wide of off stump.

Just a single comes from Yadav's second over and now Henry Brookes will replace Hannon-Dalby.

  18. Tongue keeps Notts in the fieldpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 377-9 v Notts

Four more for Josh Tongue off the bowling of Patterson-White.

That's 43 not out and his highest score in first class cricket.

Ben Gibbon is still there on 9 and needs one more for his own PB.

  19. wicket

    Surrey 333 v Yorks 14-1

    Kemar RoachImage source, Rex Features

Surrey strike in the ninth over at the Micky Stewart Oval as Kemar Roach finds the edge and Ryan Patel grabs a sharp head-high chance at third slip.

George Hill is in at three - he's just 21 years old and partner Fin Bean is 20. This will be a test of composure as well as skill.

  20. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 371-9 v Notts

Josh Tongue has 35 runs to his name and 79 runs have been added since he began his innings.

Ben Gibbon isn't faring badly himself as he pulls away a short ball from Paterson for his first boundary.

He rolls his wrists to keep another bumper down and takes an easy single.

An edge from Josh Tongue doesn't quite carry and the number nine pushes the last ball through the leg side for four. He's on 39.
