  5. Division Two Round-uppublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

Here's the latest in our Second Division games, bar our featured Worcestershire vs Notts match...

Middlesex were faring well against Leicestershire at Grace Road at stumps on day one but the hosts have struck early this morning and restricted them to 297 all out.

    Mike Finan took 5-58.

The hosts are 13-1 in reply with Sol Budinger caught by Sam Robson off the bowling of Toby Roland-Jones.

Derbyshire are under huge pressure against Glamorgan at Cardiff where the hosts are 405-5.

Billy Root was dismissed for 79 but the skipper is unbeaten on a personal best of 211 not out.

Durham are pressing home their advantage against Sussex at Chester-le-Street.

They're just 71 behind on first innings at 91-1.

  6. wicket

WICKET Worrall c Mike b Coad 23published at 11:05 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 333 v Yorks

Ben Coad takes the new ball for Yorkshire.

Dan Worrall lofts audaciously for six over mid-wicket and the next one disappears for four.

Emboldened by his success, Worrall goes for another big hit but gets too far underneath it and Ben Mike safely pouches the catch, giving Coad final figures of 3-41.

Surrey have added 41 to their overnight 292-6 in 7.3 overs. What can their bowlers do now?

  7. wicket

WICKET Roderick lbw b Hutton 102published at 11:04 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 328-8 v Notts

    The key wicket has fallen.

Roderick looks crestfallen as he leaves the field, but he's played a blinder and is rightly applauded all the way off.

He tries to work a ball round the corner, misses and he's pinned in front of all three stumps.

  8. 6 runs

    Surrey 322-9 v Yorks

Is a fourth batting point out of Surrey's reach? Not if Dan Worrall keeps hitting them like that.

Steve Patterson is fractionally wide of off stump and the Surrey number 11 throws everything at it and collects a maximum.

The new ball is now due.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Sidebottom c O Price b T Pricepublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 274

The Price is right for Gloucestershire as the final Warwickshire wicket falls.

A flashing drive with no footwork and the ball is chipped to Ollie Price. He back pedals and falls on his backside at second slip, but hangs on.

    Do Warwickshire have enough?

  10. Sibley on the attackpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 274-9

Payne bowls short and wide - and Sibley cuts through backward point for four runs. He's on 116 and another bonus point is just 30 runs away.

Four more driven through point. Vital runs for Warwickshire, who will feel even more pressure to win this game if Kent beat Hampshire at Southampton.

  11. wicket

WICKET Muyeye lbw Abbott 39published at 11:00 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Hampshire 57 v Kent 165 & 55-4

Tawanda Muyeye cannot make the most of his reprieve.

Kyle Abbott nips one back, it thunders into the front pad and the umpire's finger flies up. It looked a good shout.

  12. wicket

WICKET Goldsworthy c Young b White 22published at 10:58 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Somerset 284-5 v Northants

A first success of the morning for Northants and that was an excellent leg-cutter by Jack White which found the edge of Lewis Goldsworthy's bat. Skipper Will Young takes the catch at first slip just millimetres above the turf.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Hampshire 57 v Kent 165 & 50-3

A big chance goes begging for Hampshire.

Mohammad Abbas finds Tawanda Muyeye's outside edge - it comfortably carries to third slip, but Ian Holland puts it down.

  14. Postpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 311-9 v Yorks

Tom Lawes uses his feet and drives Steve Patterson through the covers for four.

He tries a sort of reverse scoop from the next and gets a good enough edge on it to clear the slips and collect another boundary.

  15. wicket

WICKET Bailey c Lawrence b Snater 10published at 10:55 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 v Lancs 131 & 52-8

Tom Bailey came out swinging for Lancashire, taking 10 from his first six balls, but the flashing blade brings his downfall.

He skews one straight up in the air, and Dan Lawrence takes a good catch running back from mid-on.

  16. 100 runs

100 for Gareth Roderickpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 320-7 v Notts

Roderick takes two from the first ball of Jake Ball's over. He has 99.

Got it on the fifth ball with a gap through point!

That's his second Worcestershire century of the season in Championship cricket - and his first at home.

205 balls, 12 fours and one six.

  17. Postpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Hampshire 57 v Kent 165 & 50-3

Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas have both beaten the bat several times this morning, but are yet to find the outside edge.

However, when Abbott drops short Tawanda Muyeye is good enough to belt him through the covers for four.

A textbook cover drive brings four more - Muyeye holds the pose.

  18. Postpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Somerset 284-4 v Northants

    Unlucky.

Jack White squares up James Rew but the ball flies wide of the slips off the edge and away for four.

Rew is 19 not out and partner Lewis Goldsworthy has 22.

  19. Third batting point for Surreypublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 303-9 v Yorks

It hasn't gone Surrey's way at the start of play but Dan Worrall clouts his first ball over mid-on for four and there is a third batting point for the Division One leaders.

  20. Postpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 317-7 v Notts

Brett Hutton appears to get Josh Tongue to edge behind but the ball drops safely in front of Lyndon James.

    Was that bat or pad?

Two runs from the over - and Roderick has the strike on 97 not out.
