    Breaking

    Sussex v Glam 533-9d (Cooke c sub b Hunt 141)

Chris Cooke falls for 141 and that’ll do for Glamorgan.

What a start to a must-win game for the visitors’ promotion hopes.

Maximum batting points and a huge score.

It leaves Sussex needing 384 to save the follow-on.

    24 overs remain tonight.

  5. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Lancashire 512 v Surrey 105-4

There is the briefest of stoppages at Old Trafford for a light shower while a rainbow can be seen over towards Manchester city centre.

The umpires are on the field as the groundstaff move the covers on and off the pitch.

  6. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent 342-4 v Somerset 202

Ollie Robinson is enjoying himself on his final Kent game before he heads up north to Durham for next season.

He has raced to 44 from 39 balls with five fours and two maximums as Kent go along at just five an over.

The fans there for 'Stevo Day' have been royally entertained.

  7. What will Yorkshire be happy chasing?published at 16:25 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Yorkshire 183 v Gloucestershire 190 & 122-5

To guarantee their Division One survival, Yorkshire must claim the last five Gloucestershire wickets and then chase down a fourth innings score.

With no innings going beyond 200 yet, that could be tricky.

In Yorkshire's only win this season, against Glos in April, they chased down 210 to win by six wickets.

That featured fifties from Dawid Malan and Harry Brook, two players unavailable this week as they are in Pakistan with England's T20 team.

  8. That's a recordpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Notts 637-4 v Durham

Notts now go past their previous best against Durham.

They made 629 at Ropery Lane, also in Chester-le-Street but not their current home, back in 1993 in Durham’s very early days as a first-class county.

Steven Mullaney is now in all-out charge mode - he’s just struck his seventh six.

    Northants v Essex 263

And finally Northants do end Essex's first innings as Jack White bowls last man Sam Cook.

  10. CAREER BEST FOR LYNDON JAMESpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Notts 635-4 v Durham

Another milestone at Trent Bridge as Lyndon James cuts George Drissell through point for four and goes past the 155 he made against Middlesex back in June.

  11. Postpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Northants v Essex 263-9

This is some wag from Essex's tail.

Number 10 Ben Allison now has 69 to his name.

The visitors were 152-8 yesterday afternoon.

  12. 500 up for Glamorganpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Sussex v Glam 507-8

A stand of 70 for the ninth wicket between Chris Cooke and Ajaz Patel has pushed Glamorgan past 500.

Any Sussex hope that the second new ball would finish the visitors off has disappeared.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Edgbastonpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 v Hampshire

The players can have a prolonged cup of tea because the rain has returned and so have the covers.

  14. 100 runs

for Steven Mullaneypublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Notts 606-4 v Durham

The Notts skipper has enjoyed himself this afternoon and reaches a very entertaining hundred in 91 balls with nine fours and four sixes.

He’s pushed his side out of sight and surely now defeat is out of the question for Notts so the minimum number of points they will earn is 12.

A little dip at Durham tonight with the ball surely.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Yorkshire 183 v Gloucestershire 190 & 117-5

Into the evening session at Headingley and Jack Taylor has just launched Steve Patterson into the stands for a maximum.

This spell of the match is so crucial for Yorkshire.

  16. It's raining at New Roadpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 111-2

I don’t think that 15:45 inspection took place at Worcester with rain still falling.

    Further frustration for Middlesex.

  17. 300 uppublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent 302-4 v Somerset 202

Sajid Khan drags one down and Jack Leaning helps himself to an easy boundary.

That brings up the 300 and a third batting point. While the lead is now exactly 100.

Kent only need a draw to secure their Division One status and they are putting themselves in a very good position to achieve that.

  18. Resumpton at Northantspublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Northants v Essex 231-9

Another rain shower has been and gone at Wantage Road and the players are back out.

Essex number 10 Ben Allison resumes on 47.

  19. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 v Hampshire

It feels a bit silly when there have been so many delays in this match, but now there is a 20-minute pause for a cup of tea.

Surely that is what the players were doing during all the previous rain breaks!

  20. wicket

WICKET Denly c Khan b Aldridge 38published at 15:54 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent 266-4 v Somerset

The rain has gone, the sun has broken out and now Joe Denly is out.

The Kent man pulls a delivery from Kasey Aldridge straight to Sajid Khan out in the deep.
