    Lancashire 52-1 (5 overs) v Yorkshire

The hokey-cokey of the bowling continues as Haris Rauf returns for his second over.

He delivers a bouncer which even Lanky the Giraffe would have struggled to reach, and is called for a no-ball.

Apart from that, it's a quality over with some fine yorkers and only four off it until Phil Salt hits the last one to the fence.

Jack Rule: Friday night, decent start time, a close to full house with reasonable ticket prices.

Two rival teams with a lot of history. Lots of atmosphere made by the crowd. This is what T20 cricket should be about! This is what we should be doing with the T20 game.

Spin from both ends now as Pakistan leggie Shadab Khan is thrown the ball.

But when he drops short, Phil Salt pummels it for four, and he's then pulled for four more.

A sweep brings up a third boundary of the over and the '4' signs are waving again.

The off spin of Dom Bess to open at the Brian Statham End - inspired? Let's find out.

Four - Keaton Jennings strokes one through the covers beyond Joe Root's chase. The home fans enjoyed that one.

A reverse sweep gets another boundary as they clock up 12 from the over.

Not sure that's what Root wanted from him.

The crowd are gathering and there have already been a few chants of 'Lancy, Lancy' from the stands, as well as a couple of less favourable ones from their friends from across the M62.

Phil Salt and Keaton Jennings will have the job of getting the party started with the bat for those spectators.

We have already seen 12 teams make their bow, but the remaining six counties get to flex their muscles tonight.

Semi-finalists from last year, Hampshire Hawks welcome Middlesex to the Ageas Bowl, with Middlesex fresh from their record T20 score of 229 last night.

Notts Outlaws, champions in 2020, winners of the North group last year are always a dangerous opponent in the Blast. They entertain Worcestershire Rapids at Trent Bridge.

Derbyshire Falcons, led by prolific Pakistan batter Shan Masood, entertain Birmingham Bears off the back of Paul Sterling's fireworks last night at Edgbaston in smashing the first Blast hundred of the summer.

It is now 19 years since Surrey won the inaugural T20 competition and there should be a big Friday night crowd at The Oval for the visit of Glamorgan.

While Essex Eagles, winners three years ago, are at Canterbury to take on Kent Spitfires, whose defence began with defeat by Somerset two days ago.

Elsewhere, Northamptonshire Steelbacks play Durham and last year's semi-finalists Sussex Sharks are in Bristol to face Gloucestershire.

Coronation Street or Emmerdale? Meat pie or Yorkshire pudding? A trip to Blackpool or a day out in Scarborough?

Two great counties divided by the Pennines and ready for one of the marquee fixtures of the T20 Blast - the Roses Match.

Over 14,000 will pack into Old Trafford for this game as Lancashire begin their Blast campaign. They have won six of the last ten T20 encounters between the sides with the White Rose winning only two.

Yorkshire started with a seven-wicket victory over Worcestershire in Leeds two nights ago and they are chasing a first success on 'enemy territory' since 2014 when Australia star Aaron Finch bludgeoned 88 in a five-wicket win with three balls to spare.
