  5. Lancashire on top in past Finals Day meetingspublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Lancashire v Hampshire (18:45 BST)

    James FaulknerImage source, Rex Features

The last time Hampshire played Lancashire on Finals Day was in a semi-final in 2015, and it proved to be a low-scoring contest.

James Vince scored 69 off 60 balls for the Hawks but only two other batters reached double figures as they were bowled out for 115, with James Faulkner and Stephen Parry taking three wickets each.

Lancashire won the match by six wickets - and they had also beaten the Hawks in the 2014 semi-finals - but it took them until the penultimate delivery of the 19th over to do it, with Faulner (20*) and Karl Brown (45*) together at the crease.

Lancashire went on to defeat Northants Steelbacks in the final - the only time so far they have won the domestic T20 title so far.

It's worth repeating that Hampshire lost their first four group matches in this year's T20 Blast.

Following a performance like that against Somerset, that is very hard to believe.

Since that dismal start, they have been a team transformed under skipper James Vince, strong in all departments, and it's going to take something special from Lancashire to halt their momentum.

  12. Somerset batters 'didn't quite execute'published at 17:48 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

Hampshire beat Somerset by 37 runs

Somerset captain Tom Abell told Sky Sports:

"They got 10-15 more than we would have liked but we still felt in the game as we've chased really well during the competition, but we didn't quite execute in the second half.

"Rileee [Rossouw] and I wanted to build a partnership but we couldn't get our flow with the bat and it cost us.

"I'm very proud of the team, we did well in the group stages and performed well in the quarter-final.

"We came here full of confidence and wanting to win but it wasn't to be today."

That's Hampshire's best performance on a Finals Day. They came into this semi-final having won 10 of their last 11 and they looked like a team that had done that in this battle of heavyweights.

37 runs is a big margin of victory. When the top four didn't produce for Somerset, Hampshire never looked like they were going to lose.

    Hampshire 190-6 v Somerset 153

Another beautifully disguised slower ball by Nathan Ellis dismisses fellow Aussie Peter Siddle for a golden duck - and completes a magnificent performance in the field by Hampshire Hawks.

Ellis has 3-30 from 3.3 overs and his ability at the death could be a big problem for Lancashire Lightning in the final.

Having been set 191 to win, Somerset's hopes effectively died when Rilee Rossouw holed out for 23.

They won't be adding to their 2005 title - but can Hampshire, champions in 2020 and 2012, join Leicestershire as the only three-time winners.

Slower ball by Nathan Ellis. No idea what Jack Brooks is trying to do with it but he doesn't make any contact and is cleaned up. The writing is on the wall for Somerset and the letters are six metres high.
