So where does that leave things in the group?

Well, Bangladesh are top with a slightly better net run-rate than India, who are in second having also won their only game so far.

South Africa and Zimbabwe sit in third and fourth with one point each and Pakistan and the Netherlands are at the bottom.

With respect to Zimbabwe, South Africa would have been counting on a big win today to boost their hopes with two tough games to come against India and Pakistan so they will be pretty gutted with that result.

You can see the tables here.

In the earlier game today, Bangladesh got their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a nine-run win over Netherlands.

Taskin Ahmed took an impressive 4-25 as Bangladesh defended 144 to register their first win outside of the first round of a Men's T20 World Cup.

You can read the report from that game here.

It didn't feel like enough and Quinton de Kock certainly proved that.

He smashed 23 from the first over, then continued to accelerate to a brutal 18-ball 47.

They played through the rain, probably for too long, before it had the final say - agonisingly for South Africa as they needed just 13 more runs to win.

After rain at the start of play, the game was restricted to nine overs a side and Zimbabwe batted first.

It was a struggle, and rather chaotic at times.

They eventually scrambled to 79-5 thanks to Wessly Madhevere's 35 from 18 balls.

With the weather we have had this evening why not go for a five-over game rather than try for the nine overs?

What a really, really strange day.

Confirmation that there will be no further play, and the points have been shared.

That is a big result in context of the group, leaving it pretty open now.

That doesn't do South Africa many favours when they're in a tough group with India and Pakistan to play.

Spare a thought for Quinton de Kock, though. He was smiling as he left the field and shook hands with some of the Zimbabwe players, but he just smashed 47 from 18 balls to get South Africa so close to their target and almost within the allowed time frame.

    But the rain has won.

They played through the heaviest rain we have had all day

They are putting the big cover on now so I would say the match is going to be abandoned.

The umpires tried their absolute best to get the game done but it was getting too risky. Zimbabwe still have four games left to play and had already watched one of their bowlers go down with a rolled ankle.

That's a fair call. South Africa will be frustrated that they got so close but you can't play cricket in this. It wasn't safe. The fielders were slipping around and the bowlers couldn't hold their feet at the crease.

The umpires have made the right decision here.

And the umpires say enough is enough.

South Africa needed just 13 runs to win but it is absolutely bucketing it down.

I think that will be it.

    Target 64

Yeah, you've got to feel for Zimbabwe here.

The ball is like a bar of soap and they're slipping and sliding all over the place.

I suspect they'll just bowl their spinners out of caution, and South Africa just have to try and get the runs as fast as they can.

A half-century partnership for Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock - out of which Bavuma has two.
