  1. 6 runs

    Ire 92-1published at 10 overs

And the "looking for Ireland to pull" theory continues, except Ireland are playing it very, very well.

Two filthy short balls from Chris Woakes are heaved to the boundary. The first flies past Sam Curran at mid-wicket for four, the second launched into the stands for six.

A nightmare over for Woakes. 18 from it and he's gone for 41 from three overs.

England are continuing with three back on the leg side, looking for Ireland to pull. It's a good theory, but should be used as a surprise.

  3. Ire 79-1published at 9.1 overs

A very wide wide from Chris Woakes to start the 10th over, before a near-identical ball is pulled for four past a diving fine leg.

    Not great, that.

We spoke to Ireland's Gareth Delany yesterday. He said there was no pressure on Ireland today because they'd already achieved their target of reaching this stage.

    It's showing.

  5. Ire 74-1published at 9 overs

Balbirnie takes a wild heave at a Adil Rashid and misses, taking a tumble but keeping his foot behind the line to avoid a stumping.

He then plays a nice lofted drive over mid-off for two, Harry Brook running round to do the fielding.

  6. Ire 71-1published at 8.4 overs

A single out to mid-wicket brings up the fifty partnership between Tucker and Balbirnie from 37 balls. They have batted very nicely.

Ireland don't look nervous at all. They have played some really smart cricket.

    MCG

I've found there are many great things about the MCG. One of the best is the vast walkways at the back of the stands which house the bars. It means you can still see the cricket from the queue.

  9. Ire 69-1published at 8 overs

Just four singles from Stokes' over. Few more of those needed to put some pressure back on Ireland.

Jos Buttler turns to Ben Stokes to try and get a much-needed second wicket.

Here's how Mark Wood got the first.

  11. Ire 65-1published at 7 overs

Rashid recovers well, just two further singles from the over, but England need a wicket. Badly.

Lorcan Tucker has made a lovely start to his innings. He has 25 from 13 balls.

  13. Ire 63-1published at 6.1 overs

    Yeah. Concerns for England.

Adil Rashid's first ball is a filthy full toss that is carved away for four.

England will be stunned by this start from Ireland.

  15. 6 runs

    Ire 59-1published at 6 overs

Oh, glorious. Shot of the day.

Lorcan Tucker lofts the last ball of the powerplay over long-on for six with the most perfect timing.

Ireland will be very happy with that powerplay, especially given the early loss of Stirling.

  16. Ire 51-1published at 5.2 overs

Sam Curran is into the attack and his second ball is clubbed down the ground for four past a despairing Ben Stokes dive at mid-off.

  17. Ire 45-1published at 5 overs

Mark Wood isn't particularly happy with where his front foot is landing.

He falls in his follow through, which he does often, but doesn't look good when he's running in as fast as he is.

There isn't a single left-hander in the Ireland team, which you would think is a disadvantage.

  19. Ire 41-1published at 4.2 overs

OK, well that's some way to respond.

Balbirnie gives himself some room (wise, having just been hit) and flays the next ball over cover for a glorious four.

  20. ouch!

    Ire 37-1published at 4.1 overs

In case anyone was in any doubt, Mark Wood is rapid.

Andy Balbirnie fends off a short ball, is pinned on the hand and requires some treatment from the physio.
