  1. WATCH: Suryakumar keeps India in the game with 68published at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2022

Suryakumar Yadav made 68 off 40 balls, and has given his bowlers something to bowl at.

Some of the shots in here are quite frankly ridiculous. Definitely worth having a watch.

    Thanks Sam.

It feels like South Africa should win this game, but this is the ground where Pakistan failed to chase 131 against Zimbabwe just four days ago. It shows that anything can happen.

The sides are back out in the middle in Perth. Time for the chase to begin.

Right then, after doing such a fine job with the ball, can South Africa knock off the runs and hand India their first defeat of the tournament?

We'll soon find out. It's over to Callum Matthews for the chase.

Sticking with Lungi Ngidi, here are all four of his wickets. It's fair to say that South Africa made the right decision bringing him back into the team!

South Africa bowler Lungi Ngidi: "When you come up against a team like India, you want to dismiss them for as low a total as possible so those early wickets definitely put us in a good position.

"Being my height definitely helped a bit, I was able to bash it into the deck and a few got up off a length, that worked in our favour but there is a bit of bounce out there. I think we all expected that in Perth. We sort of knew the length to hit and we're happy about that.

"We knew they probably wanted to use our pace so we wanted to tuck them up as much as possible, keep the lines as straight as possible and cramping them for space was the most important thing we wanted to do - and hit those hard lengths."

On the chase: "We've got to still to our blueprint for batting but then I'm pretty sure we'll get there."

I didn't like how India kept losing wickets at crucial times when they started getting a partnership together. Credit to the South Africa bowlers though, they executed their skills. They would have taken that at the start of the day. Any score of under 140 against India is brilliant.

South Africa need to not be three down in their powerplay because that will just put pressure on them. If their openers can get off to a decent start and they can absorb the pressure they will be in a good position. There are questions about Temba Bavuma though, who hasn't scored a lot of runs recently.

South Africa are in the box seat.

Brilliant effort from South Africa in the field. India get two from the last ball but they've finished well short of a par total, you'd think.

Suryakumar Yadav was excellent for India but he ploughed a lone furrow, whereas it was a superb all-round display from South Africa's attack.

He has followed the batter and he got tucked up. Anrich Nortje has played against these guys so many times in the IPL and he knows what they are trying to do.

South Africa have done such a good job.

Shami run out (Nortje) 0 (Ind 130-9)

Calm as you like from Nortje.

Shami tried to run a leg bye after the ball rolled off his pad and back towards the bowler, Nortje picked it up, gathered himself and hits the stumps with a gentle underarm throw.

    Simple.

There hasn't really been a standout bowler for South Africa. It has just been a really disciplined performance.

One over to go after Wayne Parnell finishes his excellent spell of 3-15 from four overs with a dot ball.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be on strike to start the 20th with Mohammed Shami at the other end.

    It was a beautiful innings.

Again he was trying to pull across the ball, it isn't a percentage scoring shot rather than going with the angle and hitting over point.

Credit to Wayne Parnell though. He's bowling to his field and the boundaries.

    Suryakumar c Maharaj b Parnell 68 (Ind 127-8)

What a day Wayne Parnell is having! He takes the key wicket of Suryakumar Padav!

Having been dropped the ball before - an extremely tough chance for Temba Bavuma at cover - Suryakumar tries to hit over the leg side but gets it all wrong and the ball loops to mid-off.

No mistake from Keshav Maharaj with the catch and India are struggling to make 140 now, let alone 150.

India have got to try and get boundaries or get Suryakumar Yadav back on strike.

You start by thinking about getting him on strike but if its in your area you try and find the boundary.

  16. wicket

    Ashwin c Rabada b Parnell 7 (Ind 124-7)

Parnell has his second and it's a third catch for Rabada.

Dug into the pitch by the seamer, Ashwin tries to pull it, gets cramped for room and it balloons up towards mid-wicket.

Rabada has his eyes on it all the way and takes the catch as the ball drops over his shoulder.

  17. Ind 124-6published at 18 overs

Rabada gets out of the over well enough, singles from the last two deliveries and he is done with figures of 0-26.

Two overs for India to try up to that 150 mark.

Wow. I reckon the New York Yankees would have been happy with that shot. It is a tremendous baseball shot.

  19. Ind 122-6published at 17.4 overs

Brilliant from Suryakumar again! Somehow, on one leg and reaching for a ball well wide of off, he clubs Rabada back over his head with enough power for four more.

You won't find that one in the textbooks.

  20. Ind 115-6published at 17 overs

Ridiculous hitting from Suryakumar. Just as Maharaj looked like he was getting to get away with a very cheap over, the India batter finishes it with back-to-back boundaries.

The first is streaky with a thick outside edge beating short third and skipping away to the fence,

The second is all class, though, swept very fine and high over short fine leg, one bounce and over the boundary cushion.
