  1. Aus 112-4published at 13 overs

Maxwell just seems to be teasing the Afghanistan fielders in this Mujeeb over.

Twice he slightly miscues the ball up in the air but manages to land it just short of the fielders coming in for the catch. Both incidents after he'd whipped the first ball away for four.

Meanwhile, we're hearing that the fourth over of the match was a five-ball over. Not helpful for Australia's net run-rate.

  2. 100 runs

    Aus 102-4published at 12 overs

    Stoinis 17, Maxwell 7

The 100 comes up for Australia as Maxwell slaps Nabi through extra cover, splits the two fielders in the deep and gets four.

A good over for the home side to bounce back quickly after the wicket of Marsh.

Stoinis has hit that a long way, beautiful slog-sweep.

  4. 6 runs

    Aus 94-4published at 11.2 overs

Smashed! Marcus Stoinis wallops a slog-sweep high over cow corner and into the crowd.

That is measured at 95m - it really was a biggie. Pressure on Mohammad Nabi.

  5. Aus 88-4published at 11 overs

Much better from Mujeeb after those two costly overs in the powerplay. He concedes just the five in this one and, more importantly, got the key wicket of Marsh.

Mujeeb, after an expensive start, has the breakthrough.

    Marsh c Gurbaz b Mujeeb 45 (Aus 86-4)

Mujeeb comes back into the attack and gets rid of Marsh!

It was another slog-sweep but this time the ball went straight up and wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz got underneath the high ball to - just about - pouch the catch.

Glenn Maxwell is the new man to the crease.

  9. Aus 83-3published at 10 overs

Good over from Rashid Khan, only five from it, as Marsh and Stoinis decide to milk the singles and take their boundaries elsewhere.

The players take drinks at the half way stage of the innings and, despite those three wickets, Australia are in a position to post a big total.

Mitch Marsh gave Afghanistan a warning about just how dangerous a hitter he can be early on... but still they made the mistake of dropping him - an it really was a sitter - a couple of overs later.

Australia have come right back in this over. Afghanistan's fielding has not been good today. How much will they regret that dropped catch?

  12. Aus 78-3published at 9 overs

When I asked how costly that drop might be, I think we have an answer...

Marsh follows up the six by nailing the ball over the covers for four and then makes it back-to-back boundaries with a ferocious pull shot.

The latter should have been stopped but another misfield in the deep allowed the ball through. Afghanistan have been consistent with their fielding today, just not in a good way.

That's Marsh at his absolute best. Over long off and a lovely lofted drive.

  14. 6 runs

    Aus 70-3published at 8.3 overs

    Another big hit from Marsh!

Gulbadin Naib errs a little on the full side and is punished. Marsh plants his front foot and hammers the ball over long off. That is a long boundary but he's cleared it with ease.

  16. Aus 62-3published at 8 overs

    Marsh 26, Stoinis 3

Steady start from Rashid Khan. Just seven from the over with singles from the last five balls following two from the first.

That should also probably only have been one but another fumble allowed Marsh and Stoinis to take the second. Afghanistan really do need to sharpen up their fielding if they are to maintain this solid position in the match.

Huge ovation from the Adelaide crowd as their adopted son and Strikers star, Rashid Khan, comes into the attack.

Yes, that really is David Warner being bowled as a right-handed batter.

  19. Aus 55-3published at 7 overs

A good over for Afghanistan as Gulbadin concedes just three singles from it. But it could have been so, so much better.

They will hope that drop doesn't prove too costly. Marsh, with Marcus Stoinis alongside him, will be trying to make Afghanistan pay.

How has he dropped that? It was an absolute sitter! Huge opportunity for Afghanistan there.
