Edged... and through the fielder's legs for four!
Seven balls left, Smeed on 88! Come on, kid!

It feels like the Brave have done well in the past 10 balls or so.
One more.
Smeed on strike, on 84 with eight balls left.
Ah, just a single.
Come on Matthew Wade. Give us what we want.

That was great running from Matthew Wade, who is rapid.
This is where it gets tricky.
Every time we've seen a player get close to 100, they get a bit bogged down at the non-striker's end, just the way this format works with sets of 10 balls.
But Smeed does well, taking two and a single to make his way to 83 and on strike for the remaining 10.
Can he?

BBC Sport chief cricket writer at Edgbaston
That was fast hands from Wade! It's gone 77 metres, but flat.
So much for giving Will Smeed the strike.
Matthew Wade smashes six of his own!
Read the room, we want the century!
Will Smeed likes hitting sixes.
Pass it on.

This is the crucial part, it's important to hand the strike back to Smeed as much as possible.
Smeed 79, Wade 2
Matthew Wade is the new batter and he has one job. Get Will Smeed on strike.
He does so, the pair just rotating a few singles off Tymal Mills.

Smeed, can he get the first elusive 100 in The Hundred?
Four more to Smeed, pumped down the ground!
He's on to 77 from 38 balls. This is mad.

Nice piece of bowling there from Lintott. Slightly slower, slightly wider, and importantly, not in the arc of Livingstone.

Livingstone goes! Curious innings, just a miscue.
Livingstone c Vince b Lintott 21 (Phoenix 137-3)
It's not very often that you take the wicket of Liam Livingstone... and it's not the one you wanted!
He couldn't quite get going, but in all fairness, he was stood watching Will Smeed smash it into the stands for most of his innings.
He tries to keep attacking but miscues the ball up in the air and into the hands of James Vince.
Oh, don't bowl there! That's been clubbed like a baseball shot for six more!
I can't keep up with this. Will Smeed is absolutely on one.

Sean Perry: Will Smeed is such a good cricketer.
Callum Franks: Smeed is on a mission here.
Warren Tarling: Will Smeed is going to play a lot for England. For me he is ahead of Phil Salt. How long before England take note?
Again! He's still going!
It looks like he hasn't even got hold of it properly, the ball travelling high, high in the air but safely over Chris Jordan, who is unable to take the catch.
Very harsh to call it a drop, as the ball was pretty much behind him already.
