It's a very wide delivery, that.

It's a very wide delivery, that.
Oh, that's filthy.
Stoinis bowls a ball so wide it's ended up in... some town near Birmingham. My geography isn't great.
Either way, it goes past the keeper for four handy runs to the Phoenix.
Ooooh, so close!
Benjamin continues to attack, smashing Marcus Stoinis into the leg side and it just evades the fielder on the boundary to race away for four.
It's pretty clear how these two batters are going to play. They're not going to shy away from the defending champions.

Chris Benjamin's rise has been meteoric.
Did he not make his T20 debut and Hundred debut in the space of a week?
He's hit that one, though!
Another booming drive off Tymal Mills that races to the boundary.

Benjamin likes pace, good tactic from Tymal to bowl a slower ball first up.
Oh, here we go! Chris Benjamin trying something fancy as he gets down on one knee and tries to ramp the ball over the keeper's head.
He completely misses it, but worth a try.

The throw comes in, oh my word! If that hit it might have have been tight.
Marcus Stoinis bowls a tidy set of five that goes for just three runs, but almost brings the first wicket as the batters scamper a risky single but the throw from the fielder misses.

With that field, it has to have the bowler bowling wide and not straight.
Shot! Chris Benjamin joins the party, smashing Garton for four more as he bowls too wide.
A positive start for the batting side.
George Garton bowls the first ball and it's clipped nicely for four runs down the leg side by Will Smeed!
Bit of a freebie there - Smeed can't believe his luck.
The Southern Brave fielders make their way to the baking hot bowl of Edgbaston and Chris Benjamin and Will Smeed follow soon after.
Some flames go up around them, which I doubt they're too thrilled with in this heat. Water guns might've been a better option.
Some news from the women's competition today as London Spirit have named Charlie Dean as their captain, replacing the injured Heather Knight.
Dean, a spin bowler, is just 21 years old but has impressed for England in her short international career so far.
It's an interesting move - Spirit have got Australian international Beth Mooney in their ranks as well as Sophie Luff, who captained Welsh Fire last year, and Naomi Dattani has also captained Middlesex.
It suggests they see Dean as a long-term option as captain - possibly for England, too.
Birmingham Phoenix: Will Smeed, Miles Hammond, Moeen Ali (C), Liam Livingstone, Chris Benjamin, Matthew Wade, Benny Howell, Henry Brookes, Tom Helm, Kane Richardson, Imran Tahir.
Southern Brave: James Vince (C), Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Davies, Tim David, Ross Whiteley, James Fuller, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Jake Lintott, Tymal Mills.
Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali: "I'd have bowled first for the same reason but it's one of the best wickets in the country so it's not the worst thing to have a bat.
"Brave are a fantastic side, but all teams seem to have made improvements this year so it's going to be a close competition.
"It'll be good to have a big crowd in tonight, it was great to have the Commonwealths here so we're looking forward to building on that."
Southern Brave captain James Vince: "We're not really sure what a good score will be. We've only had one game this year but last year as well, we found a good formula doing it this way around.
"We're playing some good cricket. We played the first game a week ago so we've had a decent gap and it's important that we start again tonight and stick to what has been working well for us.
"Tymal Mills comes back in and Quinton de Kock is here now so he's in, too."
Brave captain James Vince calls correctly and opts to bowl first.
It's another scorcher at Edgbaston as Birmingham Phoenix look for their first win of the competition.
We'll bring you the teams shortly.
Last time these two teams met, this happened...
What will tonight have to offer?
