Oval Invincibles will be aware of how dangerous McGrath and Dunkley can be at the back end of the innings. They'll be devising a plan to take a wicket while still trying to keep it tight.

Smriti Mandhana only faced 21 balls but it was an eventful stay at the crease. She started with a glorious shot for four, was dropped on 14 but Sophia Smale had her caught and bowled...

The amount of young, exciting prospects for England playing on both teams today is so good to see. And that doesn't include Dunkley who's a relative veteran of the game in comparison.

The Brave are just building a partnership. It's been a cautious start.

  5. Brave 63-2published at 60 balls

Southern Brave need something to get them going and perhaps this misfield is it. A firm drive from Dunkley off a full toss from Villiers. It should be a straightforward stop at cover but the ball bursts through and runs away for four.

Four more and it's McGrath this time. She backs away and gives herself room to drill the ball away square, piercing the gap perfectly.

Useful runs for the Brave and now it's time for a strategic timeout.

  6. Brave 54-2published at 55 balls

    Dunkley 10, McGrath 7

Sophia Smale is done. Another tidy set and she finishes with figures of 1-25 from her 20 balls. There was just one set of five that Wyatt and Mandhana got after her but otherwise she's been superb.

The Brave have now dipped just below a run-a-ball.

  9. Brave 51-2published at 50 balls

Really nice shot from Tahlia McGrath after shuffling down the pitch to Capsey, but she can't beat the in-field.

Decent set from Capsey and the Invincibles have the upper hand at the halfway stage of the innings.

Big cheers for Alice Capsey as it is announced over the PA system that she's coming on to bowl.

The 18-year-old is undoubtedly the major success story over the first two years of The Hundred.

Ismail's last ball was 79 mph. The fastest of the tournament.

  13. Brave 45-2published at 45 balls

Ismail has been fantastic and she is bowling quickly, too.

Just four from her latest set but she is not pleased that Dunkley is able to get two from the last ball.

Only five left for Ismail to bowl. You'd imagine she'll be held back for the death now.

Ismail is coming back and has definitely tested out the middle of this pitch so far.

Shabnim Ismail's bowling: 0% full, 40% good length and 60% short. 10 balls, 6 dots, went for 4 runs, took 1 wickets with an economy of 0.40 runs per ball.

In this tournament Sophia Smale has now dismissed Smriti Mandhana, Emma Lamb, Erin Burns, Sophie Devine, Bryony Smith, Danni Wyatt, Tahlia McGrath and Alyssa Healy.

All of them have played international cricket in 2022, apart from Burns, who last played for Australia in 2019.

The 17-year-old has had a seriously impressive tournament.

  16. Brave 41-2published at 40 balls

In Sophia Dunkley and Tahlia McGrath, Southern Brave have got a pretty good pair to rebuild and/ or counter-attack.

This is a key passage of play.

What a wicket! Smale has been taking some big names in this competition.

    Mandhana c&b Smale 17 (Brave 39-2)

Soft, soft dismissal and Sophia Smale absolutely loves it! Huge wicket for the Invincibles!

Mandhana wanted to advance, Smale saw her coming, dragged her length back just a touch and is there to take a very simple catch when the batter chips it back to her.

Both Brave openers gone and the Invincibles have a chance to really put some pressure on.

  20. Brave 36-1published at 35 balls

Mady Villiers is on as the Invincibles aim to build on that wicket of Wyatt.

The off-spinner so nearly adds another as Sophia Dunkley sweeps her first ball, gets a big top edge and the ball balloons into the leg side.

Fortunately for the Brave, it lands safely. A tidy over from Villiers but she does get away with a horrible full toss to finish. The third umpire decides it was just low enough to avoid being called a no-ball.
