I was nicknamed 'the hoof' because of how I walk. I've got a bit of a funny walk which people decided was like a pony. I flick my feet out in front of me and also I have to tape up four of my five toes when I bowl so it's like a hoof I guess.

Ecclestone gets an inside edge that just flies past the stumps and Nadine de Klerk cannot believe it. She sinks to her knees in utter disbelief.

She has bowled extremely well, kept charging in with great energy. She is unlucky not to have taken a wicket - she deserves one.

Sophie Ecclestone was pretty destructive in the Hundred last year especially against spin so there's no spinners alliance there. She likes to hit big.

South Africa's bowlers looked exhausted last night. They put in a big shift yesterday. They've come out quite bright with their energy up and the chat is there. They'll be like that for about half an hour but the longer England are out there, the quieter they will get, especially if the runs get flowing.

  5. Eng 349-6published at 108 overs

Sophie Ecclestone is feeling so confident now that she takes a single from the final ball to take the strike from Sciver.

South Africa's bowlers have gone through a fair few overs. They'll be hoping the top order can do a better job later on and allow them a chance to put their feet up for a bit.

England will be looking at settling in this morning. The pitch is getting slower and lower with more bounce so it's not as easy as it could be. They will be happy with their position and they've got the licence to play how they want when they get going and push on.

  7. Eng 346-6published at 107 overs

    Oooh, shot.

De Klerk drops ever so marginally short and Nat Sciver is onto it in a split second, pulling the ball just in front of mid-wicket for yet another boundary.

    England's lead is now 62.

Kapp has been unlucky. She had a drop yesterday and was not a happy bunny then and she won't be a happy bunny with that overthrow today. The double teapot is out.

    Sciver 126, Ecclestone 7

    Buzzers!

Marizanne kapp is not impressed. She stands at the stumps, glaring and brings out the double teapot.

A misfield allows Ecclestone to run three and bring Sciver back on strike.

England are having to be quite patient here. South Africa have come out this period and bowled tight lines and length. Sciver showed yesterday that if you're patient you can come through it and score some big runs.

  11. Eng 338-6published at 105 overs

Nat Sciver is struck in a rather uncomfortable place by Nadine de Klerk as she miscues a pull shot. I don't think you need me to elaborate.

A maiden. South Africa have started well.

It's doing a little bit out there especially for Kapp who is getting a bit of late movement.

  13. Eng 338-6published at 104 overs

Close! Kapp finds Sciver's edge but the ball doesn't carry to first slip, instead the fielder parries the ball away for the batters to take a single.

Kapp has started nicely here, just shaping the ball away from the right hander.

The top score by any England batter in a Test match was Betty Snowball who made 189.

  15. Eng 337-6published at 103 overs

Ecclestone swings ... and swings for four! It flies off the outside edge and down to third for her first boundary.

I said she'd be playing a few shots this morning and that will give her some confidence. She has a huge smile on her face, while bowler Nadine de Klerk has a bit more of a grimace.

    Alex Hartley
Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Kapp has bowled a wide channel so far and it hasn't been threatening. England have been happy to leave her outside the off-stump. She's a world-class bowler and has to bowl straighter today if she's going to cause England any problems.

  17. Eng 333-6published at 102 overs

Marizanne Kapp starts her day with a maiden. She's done some hard yards in the past few days.

  18. Eng 333-6published at 101 overs

Sciver takes a single to keep the strike.

Ecclestone then takes some time at the end of the over to fold Sciver's shirt collar correctly. Friendship goals right there.

I've been trying to figure out how De Klerk holds the cricket ball. She doesn't hold it like a classic seamer. Sometimes she goes fingers either side of the seam, sometimes cross-seam and sometimes it comes out scrambled. It's weird to try and break down.

  20. Eng 332-6published at 100.1 overs

Full, straight and driven firmly down the ground for four by Nat Sciver. Ruthless.

How's that for your first ball of the day?!
