England bowler Issy Wong on Sky Sports: "I am a bit out of breath! We've had a frustrating day, the weather hasn't got the memo, but we were really keen to use those overs to make an impact on the game and push it forward to hopefully get a result tomorrow.

"Laura Wolvaardt is incredibly talented - we've seen it all over the world in the last couple of years - it was just about running in and backing our skills. We're all here for a reason. Test cricket is unfamiliar for us but it is just a chance to run in, be boring and make an impact.

"It took me by surprise. The night before the game Lisa Keightley sent me a text to say 'are you free for a chat?' and I thought she was going to send me to home but said 'you're making your debut'.

"I don't think there are many debutants who can say they've been bowling downhill with the wind but I enjoyed that session a lot. It was tough for the batters, they've been on and off all day. We just wanted to put in the right places and hopefully get some results.

"Fingers crossed the weather plays its part and we can really press for a result tomorrow."

And a day that ended with Issy Wong showing everyone why she is one of the most exciting young seamers in the game.

She has figures of 2-8 from six overs, including the prize scalp of Laura Wolvaardt for the second time in the match.

It was a day that started with more Nat Sciver brilliance.

She was left unbeaten on 169 as England declared 133 runs ahead.

    A real classy knock.

England will be buzzing, they've got those two wickets. Issy Wong has done exactly what Heather Knight wanted from her and she looks like this is what she is made for.

But with the talent they've got in their line-up, there is no reason South Africa can't bat out the day tomorrow and go past England.

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

England will be coming out to get seven wickets. They're still a fair way ahead and one of South Africa's main batters is out and they will already be thinking about batting for a draw.

They can't really win form here and let's hope the weather stays good. England have been aggressive with the ball and put themselves in a really good position in this game.

    They deserve the win.

  7. Close of play - SA 55-3published at 26 overs

    Trail by 82

Sekhukhune takes a single from the first ball and leaves Sune Luus five balls to survive.

Which she does - just. The last ball from Wong zips past the outside edge and beats keeper Amy Jones to run away for four byes.

England in a very strong position going into the final day.

England have been really impressive. They've come at South Africa hard and they've taken those chances and really put themselves ahead in this game. A great catch from Sciver and also from Jones have made it a great 45 minutes.

  9. SA 50-3published at 24 overs

Anya nearly has her wish of a fourth as Nat Sciver finds the edge of Sune Luus' bat but the ball drops short of Sophie Ecclestone at slip.

And then Luus plays a wild drive that just flies past the outstretched hand of Tammy Beaumont at gully. Not a shot to be playing with an over remaining, skip.

Can South Africa see it out?

This really will have been a brilliant day for England if they can get one more wicket in these final two overs.

  11. SA 48-3published at 23 overs

No mercy from Issy Wong as she gifts Sekhukhune a short ball first up. The batter evades it in the end as it's called a wide - but a good indication of Wong's intent here.

Sekhukhune then leaves one perilously close to the off stump. How did that miss?!

  12. SA 47-3published at 22 overs

Enormous pressure on captain Sune Luus now. She drives pleasantly through the covers for two more.

Tumi Sekhukhune joins her at the crease. They are still 86 runs behind.

That's a huge wicket for England we said this could be tricky for South Africa and it's proven to be. Issy Wong has come on and taken back-to-back wickets.

Nat can do no wrong. England are really on top now this evening.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 21 overs

    Wolvaardt c Sciver b Wong 16 (SA 45-3)

HUGE! It was a testing over from Wong, squaring Wolvaardt up first ball before tempting a loose drive.

And from the final ball Wong offers some width, Wolvaardt accepts the invitation to cut it away for four but can only pick out Nat Sciver at gully! Decent grab too, low to the ground and diving to her right.

Wong gets Wolvaardt twice in the match!

  16. SA 45-2published at 20 overs

Nat Sciver bowls her first over of the day. Just a single from it.

Tense times for South Africa here. Five overs to go.

    Alex Hartley
Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Issy Wong getting a bit lucky going down the leg-side and Goodall looking to flick it but gets a tickle to Jones. That's the breakthrough England would have wanted this evening. The pace made her tempted to want to play at the ball.

  18. SA 44-2published at 19 overs

Captain Sune Luus bravely sends herself out instead of opting for a nightwatchman.

She gets solidly behind her first ball and that completes a successful over for England.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.5 overs

    Goodall c Jones b Wong 26 (SA 44-2)

    Strangled down the leg side!

Heartbreak for Lara Goodall who was playing really nicely. Wong strays down the leg side, the batter tries to clip the ball off her legs but just gets the faintest tickle through to Amy Jones behind the stumps.

England don't care how they come, they are delighted.

England are pushing for their first Test win since 2014 when they come out to play tomorrow. They haven't won a home Test since 2005.
