  1. drinks break

    SA 103-4published at 45 overs

Another Ecclestone over is done in a flash and they take two runs from it somewhere.

    She's so good.

Anyway, that's drinks. A good rebuilding platform for South Africa there, taking a more attacking approach which is nice to see.

Lizelle Lee was the ICC Cricketer of the year last year for her form in white cricket so we're talking about one of the best in the world and she's just finding her feet in this Test match.

England will like to see these shots from Lee because there's just a nick just around the corner if they keep enticing her into these big shots.

  4. SA 101-4published at 44 overs

Lizelle Lee is not messing around here. She's had enough of Issy Wong nipping the ball past her edge so she takes one step down the pitch and thumps it over mid-off for four.

I don't think the bowler will mind seeing that too much. Gives her hope of a chance.

And next ball there's another chance as Lee takes on the short ball and it bounces inches in front of poor Lauren Bell, who's copping it a bit at the moment. She makes a good effort to get there but the ball ricochets away for four more.

    100 up for the visitors.

Amy Jones won't have done this much standing back in a long time. She used to stand up quite a lot to Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole but she hasn't even stood up to Cross in this game.

It's all of a sudden got very exciting out there. There's something about Wong that is making it all happen.

  7. SA 93-4published at 44 overs

Two more chances! But both very harsh and very tough so you probably can't call them drops.

Sekhukhune flicks one to Tammy Beaumont at short leg which hits her bang on the shoulder and flies up out of her reach.

Two balls later Lizelle Lee chips the ball up in the direction of mid-off but the ball just evades Lauren Bell running backwards, who is the tallest player on the pitch so if she couldn't get there, nobody could.

The chances are coming. England just have to take them.

That's what Issy Wong does. She makes things happen and there was no need for Lizelle Lee to play at that. You can see the disappointment on both Issy Wong and Amy Jones's faces. She's such a good wicketkeeper but only got one hand to that and she'll be really disappointed as that was the breakthrough they needed.

  9. dropped catch

Lee dropped on 13published at 43 overs

    SA 89-4

Ohhh, Amy Jones! Issy Wong finds the edge, it does go to Jones' right but not enough to warrant a dive.

I'm not sure how or why, as she gets two hands to it, but the ball bursts through and a chance goes begging.

Wong has her hands on her head as she is denied a third wicket.

This is great fielding from Lauren Bell who is running 100 yards back and forth between the right and left handed batters. She's putting in the distance so it's impressive to be so quick still.

  11. SA 89-4published at 41.3 overs

Here is Issy Wong, who bowled a brilliant burst late last night.

She loves a short ball and Lizelle Lee loves to take it on, so we could have some fun viewing between this pair.

And on that note, Wong delivers one that Lee pulls firmly to the square leg where Lauren Bell does the fielding.

Issy Wong is starting to limber up.

  13. SA 86-4published at 41 overs

    Trail by 47

Lee sees off the over and cuts nicely from the final ball for two runs. She may have got a duck in the first innings but she's still a dangerous player and England would like to see the back of her.

  14. Not outpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

Umpire's call! England are denied. Ecclestone gives a grimace.

  15. England reviewpublished at 40.1 overs

Ooooh! Sophie Ecclestone thinks she has Lizelle Lee lbw.

Umpire Sue Redfern disagrees and England send it upstairs. Going down leg?

  16. SA 84-4published at 40 overs

Lizelle Lee has been positive since she came out, ticking the singles off, accompanied by the resilience of Sekhukhune.

Lee defends solidly and Cross aims to throw the ball at her, for some reason. Lee doesn't look the slightest bit bothered.

Sekhukhune has looked immovable this morning. She's been solid as a rock far and it's caused Sophie Ecclestone to have a bit of a chat with Heather Knight.

  18. SA 82-4published at 39 overs

Tumi Sekhukhune negotiates a maiden from Sophie Ecclestone.

The rain has passed and the sky now looks a lot brighter, just a bit cloudy. Panic over.

In fairness to Lizelle Lee, it is only her second Test match.
