We're going to call it a day there.

I'll leave you with Stephan Shemilt's report from Taunton...

...and there will be reaction on the cricket section of the BBC Sport website and app shortly.

The next match in this series is on 11 July - we'll have the usual text, radio and clips service for that.

You don't have to wait until then for more cricket, though! England men play India in the rearranged Test tomorrow. Play starts at the earlier time of 10:30 BST, so don't get caught out.

Ben Stokes has pledged that England will continue being aggressive and looking to entertain.

We'll see you at 09:55 BST for the toss!

  2. 'All the debutants have taken their chance'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

England captain Heather Knight: "It's obviously disappointing. We really played the game in the right way and took the game forward with every opportunity that we had. That was how we wanted to do things.

"It's a shame that the rain has intervened and the talk will be about four-day or five-day Test matches rather than some brilliant performances from Nat Sciver and ADR [Alice Davidson-Richards]. but there is nothing we can do about the weather.

"I've given my opinion on this [five-day Tests] before and that hasn't changed. I think we should have five-day Tests. It's important for the format to make it exciting. Weather has intervened in our last three Tests.

"It's been brilliant, the start of a new era and so exciting to see these girls come in and watch them form first slip. All the debutants have taken their chance."

  3. 'Really happy to contribute'published at 18:06 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

Player of the match Nat Sciver: 'It's been a difficult four days but I'm really happy to contribute like that to our team. Any time I get to go out there with the Three Lions on my shirt is really special."

On performing in a Test match: "It's about being more disciplined and making good decisions throughout the innings and being really tight then if the game allows we can up the scoring rate."

On Alice Davidson-Richards: "We enjoyed batting together. It was really nice to bat with her and for her to make her debut was special. To put on that partnership when we were in a bit of trouble was special."

On having so many debutants: "It's promising and exciting to see the debuts. The cap presentation took a bit longer than normal but it's special for all of them and to play a format we don't play much."

  5. 'Something we want to do more of'published at 18:02 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

South Africa captain Sune Luus: "It was lots of fun, obviously something new for most of us but something we want to do more of in future. Maybe just with a bit more preparation. The girls had lots of fun and lots of learning that we can take out of this. It was a great experience.

"It's something new working through each session, trying to figure of what to do. But it was a lot of fun.

"Tumi Sekhukhune showed a lot of us how to bat out there and how to stay patient. She can call herself an all-rounder now.

"We're looking forward to the white-ball now. We've just come off Ireland where we had some ODI and T20 preparation so we're looking forward to next week."

Issy Wong is a fantastic talent. She plays with a smile on her face and England have been searching for a payer like her for a while to take over from Katherine Brunt.

It will be a competitive contest. They are pretty evenly matched but I think Nat Sciver will be that point of difference for England. But on paper, South Africa are very well-balanced and they have lots of match-winners.

  8. 'Kapp and Sciver put on a show'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Georgia Elwiss
England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

Marizanne Kapp is one of the best all-rounders in the world and we've been fortunate this week to see her and Sciver put on a show.

She gave us some cover drives to die for and dug her side out of a hole. Without that innings, the match wouldn't have had any sustenance.

If we look at the men's domestic structure they play four days, so they know how to force a result, they're used to it. And if it rains you do usually end up with a draw, but with a full four days you do get results.

I'd love to see women's Tests go to five days purely because you get more wriggle room and we wouldn't see all these draws.

  10. 'A fantastic Test match'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Georgia Elwiss
England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

We have almost lost an entire day's play so trying to force a result into three days just isn't going to happen.

It's a shame because it was a fantastic Test match, there were twists and turns, momentum shifts... so ending in a draw feels like such an anti climax.

Just to flag too, the third Twenty20 on 25 July will be LIVE on BBC Two.

Jack Rule: Once again we are haunted by the lack of a 5th day. Feels like we say the same think every Test, we can only hope for some change.

  13. What's next?published at 17:39 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

The draw leaves the multi-format series evenly poised - and whisper it quietly, in a way, is better for the series than a side winning.

There are six white-ball games to come, each worth two points.

It should be a cracker over the next three and a half weeks.

    Schedule

    11 July - 1st ODI, Northampton (d/n) (14:00 BST)

    15 July - 2nd ODI, Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol (d/n) (14:00 BST)

18 July - 3rd ODI, The Uptonsteel County Ground, Leicester (d/n) (14:00 BST)

    Breaking

We've just heard over the tannoy system at Taunton that the game has been abandoned and will finish in a draw.

Both sides will take two points each in the multi-format series.

Emma Lamb showed some encouraging signs in her 38 too.

She should get an extended run in the side this summer and will be hoping to nail down her spot.

    Lauren Bell was also impressive.

She showed good control despite being able to display plenty of swing movement.

It has been a good Test match for all of England's debutants in fairness.

It does look like it is getting a bit brighter but that is just blind optimism I think. There is a lot of water on the covers.

It is just a shame. It was poised to be such a good Test match.

Day one was all about Marizanne Kapp, who made a magnificent 150.

She's blunted England today with an unbeaten 43.
