If that early wicket of Sophia Dunkley had happened, things would have been much different. The front-foot no-ball gave England too much momentum early on.

    Eng 86-1published at 9 overs

    Dunkley 32, Capsey 16

Alice Capsey goes big. Shouts of "catch" but only if you're in the stands behind the bowler. There's a chat with the umpire about the ball after the battering it just received but all seems okay.

    15 from that over.

I'm not a big fan of the captain being on the boundary. It doesn't send a great signal to your fielders, you're very isolated. But I understand the temptation from Kaur, she's a great fielder at long-on.

  4. Eng 78-1published at 21:56 British Summer Time 10 September 2022

Dunkley goes aerial straight back over Rana's head. A solid effort from Kaur at long on who gets a finger to it but can only watch it head for six. England are looking to get this done quickly.

    They need 55 from 70.

  5. Eng 71-1published at 8 overs

    Dunkley 24, Capsey 9

Alice Capsey finds the boundary for the first time today. She whacks it back at the head of Vastrakar who ducks out the way but should have stopped it.

A poor chase from Kiran. No dive, no slide and she just watches it roll over the rope.

Capsey goes back-to-back boundaries with a pull into the leg side.

England are playing risky cricket but it's paying off - they're ahead of the rate.

Capsey and Dunkley are team-mates at South East Stars so know each other's game well. They'll be looking to rotate the strike and tick the scoreboard over.

Following that stumping, the Indian fielding is suddenly looking sharper, their voices are up and they're hunting another.

That was a really good innings and Wyatt was looking really dangerous. I do get the sense with more boundary riders and more protection that India can make a comeback here, but they'll need to be more aggressive.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.2 overs

Wyatt st Ghosh b Rana 24 (Eng 60-1)

Wyatt charges at Rana but misses and it's taken well by Ghosh behind the stumps and she whips the bails off.

Wyatt turns and dives but the zingers are already lit and she's on her way.

  11. Eng 56-0published at 6 overs

    Dunkley 21, Wyatt 22

Bit of ball-watching there are Wyatt is almost gone. A direct hit and she would have been on her way. As it stands, she's safe and Deepti follows it up with a wide as she tries to keep it out of Wyatt's hitting arc.

Wyatt capitalises with a slog-sweep for a one-bounce four back over her head next ball.

    Back-to-back boundaries finish the powerplay.

The England fifty comes up in the over.

The worm shows England are 15 runs ahead of India. England are 56 for 0 after 6 overs. At the same stage India were 41 for 1.

Thakur - what on earth does she have to do to take a wicket?!

You have to say as fine as some of the shots have been, some of the fielding has been pretty atrocious.

  14. dropped catch

Dunkley dropped on 15published at 4.3 overs

Poor from Shafali Verma. She doesn't have to move far and drops an easy one to give Dunkley another life and that's another rub of salt into the wound. Dunkley capitalises by going aerial and hits the next one over point for four.

England's openers are racing along now. We know the firepower these two are capable of. And like they say... if you can do it on a cold night in Durham!

India hit just one six in their innings - this effort from Richa Ghosh...

  16. Eng 25-0published at 3 overs

    Dunkley 4, Wyatt 9

India were 24-0 at this stage and we thought they got going quickly so this is a good start from these two.

Radha Yadav hit the ground hard and is clutching her shoulder. After a prolonged period on the floor, she's now up but being escorted off the pitch holding her right shoulder.

  18. England 19-0published at 2 overs

    Dunkley 4, Wyatt 8

You cannot bowl there to DannI Wyatt. She's just waiting for that width and sends it to the boundary.

A good recovery from Vastrakar who pulls back her length a little and makes her defend. That's how to bowl to Wyatt.

If we've got another 19 overs similar to that one we could be here until midnight!

  20. England 6-0published at 1 over

    Dunkley 4, Wyatt 0

Dunkley seemed rattled but that shot has brushed the nerves away. She steps back and whacks Thakur back past her for four. Great use of the bottom hand and some serious power behind that.
