Wasim Akram questioning on the TV commentary how useful the series will be if all the pitches for the matches are slower, suited to spin, given the T20 World Cup will be played in Australia where they should be quicker.

    He has a point.

Another sumptuous piece of batting dexterity from Harry Brook, who opens the face to Haris Rauf and guides the ball for four through third. That oozed class.

  2. Eng 149-4published at 18.0 overs

The crowd has gone flat, which suggests they think this a foregone conclusion. Harry Brook has 32 runs from 20 balls, by the way.

Naseem Shah runs his hands through that luxurious hair of his, before bounding in. However, his second ball is a full toss which Moeen Ali simply caresses through the covers to the boundary.

    Effortless.

Moeen Ali only plays in one way, looking to strike the ball hard. England should be able to do this relatively quickly.

At the moment it's still very much still England's game.

"A bit two paced" is what Harry Brook tells stand-in England skipper Moeen Ali as he arrives at the crease looking to finish the job.

16 off 18 balls is what England need to wrap up victory.

There is a wicket that will put some pressure on England.

Hales c Babar Azam b Haris Rauf 53 (Eng 142-4)

And Alex Hales is promptly out next ball...

The England opener rather tamely skies one from Haris Rauf into the hands of the Pakistan skipper who stoops forward to claim the catch at mid-off.

Hales is back with the half-century!

Fifty for Alex Halespublished at 16.3 overs

A run a ball for England more or less does it from here, although I'd be amazed if this game makes it to the last over if these two are still here.

Haris Rauf attempts to stem the tide, but his third ball is gloved down the leg side by Alex Hales to bring up his half century.

Not the most cultured fifty, but a match-defining one.

Glorious shot and lofted away by Brook! A better looking shot you'll struggle to find.

    England are cruising now.

Another boundary from Harry Brook, but this is a proper cricket shot. A high elbow drive through mid-off as he picks a slower ball from Naseem Shah.

Brook is so light on his feet he could be a ballet dancer.

A lot of talk about Naseem Shah but he's been expensive today.

  14. Eng 132-3published at 15.4 overs

Delicious pull from Harry Brook as he picks up the length of a shorter one from Naseem Shah and he simply helps the ball on its way.

Shah, coiffured hair and chain dangling down, looks a little crestfallen as he trudges back to his mark.

He is dispatched to the boundary again, this time by Alex Hales. The England opener seizes on a little bit of width and creams it through extra cover.

  15. Eng 122-3published at 15.0 overs

A high full toss from Shahnawaz Dahani as a yorker goes wrong. Harry Brook throws the kitchen sink at it, but it's a thick edge through third which takes it down to the boundary for four.

Final ball of the over is a little slower to Alex Hales, but he smears it down the ground for four more.

Big over for England. Their game to lose from here you feel.

Hello! Harry Brook brilliantly ramp laps the returning Shahnawaz Dahani for four over the wicketkeeper's head.

    Superb stuff.

Mohammad Nawaz continues. Two singles off his first three balls, then three off the next three. England biding their time for now.

Babar is really putting all his eggs in one basket giving it to his spinner and this over is really key.

  20. Eng 102-3published at 13.0 overs

Alex Hales happy to keep stepping wide and attempting to haul the ball into the leg side. It's not pretty, but pretty effective in rotating the strike.

Harry Brook spots a full toss from Qadir's fourth ball, skips down the pitch and belts it down the ground for four.

57 off 42 balls it the scenario from here. Hales has 36 from 30.
