As a lot of people have said in the build up to this game, it will leave a positive and a philanthropic impact. The proceeds from this match are going towards the victims of the floods.

The silence is followed by both national anthems and the players are now making their way out to the middle.

The National Stadium in Karachi is very noisy as the sides emerge, with people using their phone torches to create a pool of light.

Lancashire's Luke Wood is making his debut today then.

He was in England's squad for the one-day international series in the Netherlands earlier in the summer but didn't play.

The 27-year-old was very impressive in The Hundred for Trent Rockets, taking 10 wickets.

He is a left-arm seamer and can bowl seriously fast. He floored Kieron Pollard with a vicious yorker in The Hundred.

England's captain Moeen Ali: "It means a lot for us to come here. We're lucky enough to come here after 17 years and it means a lot. It's massive for England and Pakistan too.

"It's brilliant. I've not been to Pakistan as much in my life. No matter where you are in the world, to represent England is great.

"It's about playing the cricket we're used to playing. We've got new faces in the team. It's about having a new brand.

"We've got new faces in the squad like Alex Hales and Ben Duckett who are coming in and [Luke] Wood makes his debut too which is awesome."

Let's head straight out to the middle for the toss.

England are without Jos Buttler for at least the first few games of the series because of the calf injury he sustained while playing for Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

Moeen Ali is captaining the side in his absence.

We know that left-arm seamer Luke Wood is going to be making his debut because he was handed his cap by Buttler earlier on.

    Good afternoon.

While today is an historic moment it also really kickstarts England's build-up to the T20 World Cup.

They are now just 33 days away from their first game against Afghanistan in Perth and they have seven T20s against Pakistan, three against Australia before an official warm-up match against Pakistan before that.

There is work to do after series against India and South Africa at home this summer too.

Today is the 6,118th day since England last played a game in Pakistan.

Their last tour was in 2005 because a gun attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in 2009 meant international teams didn't return until 2015, while the first Test back was in 2019.

Today's first Twenty20 marks a significant return for both Pakistan and England.

    Let's go.
