Shadab run out (Curran) 7 (Pak 100-7)

Gone! Shadab is a couple of inches short despite a full length dive. In fairness to him it's a brilliant throw from Sam Curran who rushed in off the extra cover boundary and left wicketkeeper Phil Salt very little to do.

Still it has been a horrible few minutes for Pakistan.

    My instinct says it's out.

That felt like a very ill-advised second run. What is going on out there?

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

Not another run-out, surely? There are hands on heads on the Pakistan bench. Phil Salt is celebrating already.

  5. 6 runs

    Pak 99-6published at 13.3 overs

Shadab Khan cracks his first ball for six!

It's first strike to Pakistan in the battle between the two leggies in this game.

  6. Pak 92-6published at 13.1 overs

But Mohammad Rizwan, meanwhile, continues to ease along despite the mess around him. Adil Rashid is driven to the fence but it doesn't do much to rouse the locals.

That run out comes from a team put under pressure. It was a stupid run out, really.

An outstanding bit of fielding bearing in mind the surface is so damp. Pakistan are in all sorts of trouble now.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13 overs

Nawaz run out Moeen 0 (Pak 88-6)

    Silence in Lahore. Absolute silence.

It's brilliant from Moeen who swoops in from cover and hits direct with an under arm throw but also pretty dozy from Mohammad Nawaz who just wandered down the pitch before trying to dive back.

That dive was in vain and Pakistan are in all sorts of bother.

This is out too, I think!

Moeen Ali with the direct hit. Mohammad Nawaz might be gone for a duck.

Here's Mohammad Nawaz with three balls remaining in Wood's over.

    Good luck.

Mark Wood has bluffed Asif Ali by bringing mid-on and mid-off up and then nailed his yorker.

Full, fast and a bit of bluff from Mark Wood. Asif Ali was expecting something shorter. An expert piece of bowling.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.3 overs

    Asif b Wood 5 (Pak 88-5)

Sensational! What a response. After that boundary Mark Wood goes full, straight and 94mph. The result is Asif Ali's stumps are splattered.

    England's quick has 3-10.

  15. Pak 88-4published at 12.2 overs

And right on cue, here is Mark Wood.

Asif Ali's response is to step away and have a big swing. It's not clean but brings him a first boundary.

We learned in the PSL that Asif Ali struggles against pace so expect Mark Wood to return to the England attack in the near future. The pitch here is a little slower here than in Karachi so expect the bowlers to bang it in, and try to force a mistake with a cross-batted shot.

Just imagine... Jofra, Wood, Mahmood, Topley, Rashid, Ali. Reserves: Dawson, Stone, Woakes, Jordan.. probably more I've missed! What an amazing pace attack we could have without injuries!

"Asif! Asif! Asif!" chant the Pakistan fans in Lahore. The right-hander can be very, very dangerous but right now England are well on top.
