    Iftikhar c Malan b Willey 15 (Pak 81-4)

That's soft! David Willey bowls a ball short and wide-ish but Iftikhar Ahmed neither goes up nor down, instead managing to guide the ball straight to Dawid Malan at backward point.

  2. Pak 80-3published at 11.1 overs

Rizwan certainly looks like he wants to get a shift on. He gets down on one knee to flick a David Willey full toss over short fine leg.

It was not a good delivery in truth.

  3. Pak 76-3published at 11 overs

    Rizwan 32, Iftikhar 15

Adil Rashid takes a red towel from his pocket to dry the ball between deliveries. That suggests dew may be arriving which will be bad news for Pakistan's spinners later on.

There also looks to be thousands of insects flying around under the lights.

    Well, well...

Almost immediately after the drinks break Mohammad Rizwan cracks Adil Rashid straight back over his head.

  8. Pak 66-3published at 10 overs

    Rizwan 24, Iftikhar 13

England certainly look a different team when Wood plays. They have suddenly have real threat with the ball.

Sam Curran, meanwhile, bowls considerably slower but is still banging the ball into the pitch. Good fielding on the boundary rope stops two boundaries.

The players take a drink as he hit the halfway point of the innings.

Mark Wood is bowling seriously good.

  10. Pak 59-3published at 9 overs

    Rizwan 23, Iftikhar 7

Rashid comes back well to ensure the boundary does not spark a swing in momentum. Some of the scores we saw in Karachi look a long way off here.

Of all the encouraging things for England, I think what will be most encouraging is how Mark Wood has come back so far this series.

He has only bowled six overs, but it is the point of difference they have been missing.

  12. Pak 56-3published at 8.1 overs

Pakistan needed this to break free of the shackles. Iftikhar times a drive perfectly, picking the gap off Adil Rashid for his first boundary.

  13. Eng 52-3published at 8 overs

Wood has two wickets in two overs for just five runs.

You'd have to pay me a lot of money to face Mark Wood bowling this quickly.

Mark Wood once again hitting the middle of the wicket hard and forcing a cross-bat shot from Haider Ali.

He is whipping that speed gun up.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.3 overs

    Haider c&b Wood 4 (Pak 51-3)

Mark Wood's pace does it again! The Pakistan batters just do not look comfortable as he fires the ball down at them. This one is a 92mph bouncer which Haider Ali top-edges into the night sky. Wood calls everyone out of the way and takes the catch himself.

    Protect him at all costs.

There is a bit more in the wicket at Lahore compared to Karachi, which is one of the flattest wickets around.

Lahore is a little bit slower, but if you hit the middle of the pitch quite hard you can get indifferent bounce.

  20. Pak 49-2published at 7 overs

The crowd cheers as the tall right-hander Haider Ali chops Rashid down towards the point boundary only for Sam Curran to jog around and cut it off.

There's not loads of turn for England's leggie but enough to have him interested.
