That was a coat of varnish away from the outside edge of the bat.
A fascinating battle is in play at the moment.

Oh my, Shafique's lucky not to get a feather on that. It was an absolute ripper from Leach, pitching on middle and turning sharply past off stump.
Target 355
The pitch has played the odd trick where one has kept low so there's definitely enough to still keep the bowlers interested.
Two half-chances have gone against England though.
Well, it looked promising to start off with. A good length delivery on off-stump kept very low and thudded into Rizwan's pads.
Only problem with that is he got a massive inside-edge. Rizwan survives.

Huge inside edge there. In fact it is a bit of a stinker of a decision.

The body language of the England players suggests they are not that interested.
There's a very good shout for lbw and it's been given on-field. Rizwan goes upstairs straightaway.
Right, time for some of Mark Wood's fiery pace.
He replaces Root and rightly so I reckon.

That was a gorgeous delivery. Everything but the outside edge.
Target 355
Leach found some purchase in that over as he got one to rip past Shafique's outside edge. It'll serve as some much-needed encouragement.
He followed that up with one down the leg side though and it yielded a couple more runs for Pakistan.
Target 355
Was there an air of desperation about that review? Well, it's too soon to be desperate but England will definitely be concerned by what they've seen thus far.
The pitch has held up surprisingly well.
And it is pitching just outside the line of leg stump, England lose a review.

Root is convinced this is out.
There's a big shout for leg before against Shafique and it's been turned down. England are going upstairs.
It was another delivery on a leg-stump line so this might not be the greatest of reviews.
Target 355
Pakistan will definitely be feeling at ease after those first 10 overs. They've scored at a decent clip and England's bowlers haven't posed any material threats thus far.
Stokes needs to come up with one of his inspirational changes I reckon.
Alex Hartley
Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special
There's so much time left in this game Pakistan cannot bat out for the draw, so they may as well go for the win.
Target 355
Root hasn't quite got his line right today. He's been on leg stump or thereabouts. With the pitch not offering much, I doubt he'll find a lot of success bowling there.
It's looking very comfortable for the Pakistani batters at the minute.

There's not so much mist today, it's a much clearer day.
Target 355
No more runs after that boundary off the first ball but Pakistan are definitely looking to be positive.
Some aerial shots of the gates also show people pouring in, they sense some impending action.
