Now Leach also starts his over by conceding a boundary.

It's dragged down short outside off and Shafique pounces on it by cutting fiercely through point.

    Erm, where's Jimmy Anderson?

There was a degree of risk in that shot from Mohammad Rizwan but it was very well played.

Pakistan are getting a move on here.

  4. Pak 33-0published at 7 overs

    Target 355

Root bowls a poor delivery down the leg side and Rizwan nails the sweep to pick up four before driving one through cover to pick up a couple more.

The over ends with Rizwan scything one through point to collect another boundary,

Pakistan are definitely on the charge here, clear display of intent.

    Cheers Sam.

Here's Joe Root, spin now at both ends.

  6. Pak 23-0published at 6 overs

    Target 355

Expensive over from Leach as Shafique whips the last ball through mid-wicket for four.

It looks like we've got an early bowling change for England coming up, and to tell you all about it, here's Anurag Hegde to take you through to the lunch break.

  7. 6 runs

    Pak 19-0published at 5.2 overs

    Target 355

That is gorgeous from Abdullah Shafique!

Down the pitch, perfectly straight bat and he middles the checked drive - the ball sails over the ropes for the most aesthetically pleasing of sixes.

I'm not sure this target is big enough; too much time in the game and a pretty decent wicket?

  9. Pak 13-0published at 5.1 overs

    Target 355

Interesting, very interesting. Rizwan is down the track to Leach, doesn't get to the pitch of the ball and ends up hitting it a long way up.

There is enough distance to comfortably clear Jimmy Anderson at mid-off but the England's 40-year-old fast bowler is still willing to throw himself about like a teenager and does so to good effect, flicking the ball back just in time to save the boundary.

Encouraging for Leach and England, though.

I don't see any rain in this part of the world at this time so Pakistan will really have dig in for these two and a half days.

You need a massive partnership when chasing a total like this, batting is not going to be easy.

  11. Pak 10-0published at 5 overs

    Target 355

Nearly a drag on to end Robinson's over. Shafique went back, got an inside even but the ball deflects onto his boot and runs into the off side.

That is about a close to the seamer causing any problems as we've seen. Until England can get the ball reversing, it is hard to see how that changes.

  12. Pak 7-0published at 4 overs

    Target 355

Another steady over from Leach but no scares for Pakistan this time around.

The only runs from the over come after a misfield from Robinson at mid-on, that allows Shafique a couple.

The last time England opened the bowling with the same spinner in both innings of a Test was Gareth Batty against Bangladesh in Chittagong in 2016.

There's still a bit of a lull around the ground. Not the biggest crowd, probably the smallest we've seen all game.

  15. Pak 5-0published at 3 overs

    Target 355

Just a single form Robinson's over. With no swing on offer, he's dragged his length back and is holding a very tight line on off stump.

We saw at the end of the England innings that a few balls were staying low, with that in mind, just bowling straight is a pretty logical tactic.

Pope will be challenged in this innings. He's a part-time keeper but he's done very well so far.

    An eventful over there.

  17. Pak 4-0published at 2 overs

    Target 355

Good start from Leach. Rizwan misses with an attempted sweep, the ball just misses off stump two.

The makeshift Test opener gets off the mark from the last ball of the over, though, skipping down the pitch and whipping through mid-wicket for a couple.

  18. Pak 2-0published at 1.3 overs

    Target 355

Close! Jack Leach opens from the other end and produces a beauty to Shafique.

The ball comes off the outside edge, bounces off Ollie Pope's pad and loops up and over slip! No chance for Pope or the slips in the end but nearly the perfect start for England.

I guess Babar went into the dressing room and asked who wants to open and Rizwan must've raised his hand before anyone else. He doesn't open in Test match cricket.

  20. Pak 1-0published at 1 over

    Target 355

Abdullah Shafique gets the first run of Pakistan's second innings, worked to long leg off his hip.

That brings Mohammad Rizwan on strike. It'll be interesting to see how he goes.

Precious little - by which I mean zero - swing for Ollie Robinson and second slip is promptly taken out and a fielder is put in at catching cover instead.
