The pitch looks good for batting. There was talk of a quick Test but it is the type of surface you would expect in Pakistan.
Crawley out without scoring in first over
Four wickets for Leach as Pakistan bowled out for 304
Leg-spinner Ahmed, 18, takes two wickets on debut
Babar makes 78 before being run out by Foakes' smart work

Leach continues as England offer spin from both ends.
Babar cuts for a single - he moves onto 49.

At first look Rehan is not bad. But remember he is 18 years of age and leg spin takes a long time to master. The talent is there.
England have to really look after him. He will be a force in the coming years.
Better from Ahmed, who goes for just three. He struggled with length in his first spell, but he's bowled fuller in this first over.
Shakeel drives him through the covers for two but there's not enough pace to get to the ropes.
The two teams have had drinks and here's debutant Rehan Ahmed to replace Mark Wood.
It's a change of ends for him.

I'd want Joe Root to come on now. He's been the most consistent spinner.
A bit more impetus from Pakistan as they work Leach for four singles.
This partnership is up to 39 runs - all in this session after Azhar Ali's dismissal brought the morning's play to an end.

Rachel T: Mum is coming over this morning to watch the cricket - she will be bringing her melt-in-the-mouth mince pies. Hoping for an equally delicious clatter of wickets…

It's a very strange field. You'll only find it in this part of the world, with this wicket when the team are trying anything.
A bit of a mid-over conference between Wood and Stokes. The Durham quick seems to be finding a bit of reverse here, might his captain fancy some of that? He didn't bowl in Multan.
Babar works Leach into the leg side for the only run of the over.
Not especially explosive from Pakistan at the moment. They'll be keeping half an eye on the youthful England debutant Rehan Ahmed, who conceded 37 runs from his first five-over spell in Test cricket.
A maiden from Wood to Shakeel, who once again allows a couple of short balls to skim over his head.
A bit of a sweat on for Wood - it's 29 degrees in Karachi, with a fine forecast set for all five days.
Shakeel takes a big stride forward and sweeps a length ball from Leach to the boundary.
He pushes the next ball for a single and that's 150 up for Pakistan.

The wicket hasn't offered as much as England would like. The one before lunch was a bonus.
England yank Mark Wood's pull chord a few times and he's revved up for a spell.
Shakeel ducks under a bouncer that died a bit on the way through.

What has taken us all by surprise is how flat this wicket has been. On inspection we thought it would turn but so far it has been very flat.
Australia recovered to 145-5 at the end of an action-packed first day of the first Test against South Africa against Brisbane.
On a day 15 wickets fell, Australia closed seven runs behind the first-innings score of the tourists, who were earlier dismissed for 152.
Australia were 29-3 against South Africa's impressive pace attack but Travis Head's counter-attacking 78 not out from 77 balls led the hosts' recovery.
Kyle Verreynne top-scored with 64 for South Africa, who were 27-4 and later collapsed from 125-4 to 152 all out.
Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took three wickets each while Scott Boland and Pat Cummins claimed two apiece.
Maiden from Leach, who's offered good control here.
Foakes whips off Shakeel's bails - no dice. I don't think anyone believed in that one.

Where we had the 'v' that's now gone and mid on has come back with a wide slip.
Full from Robinson and Babar punches him down the ground. Shakeel skips out of the way and the ball evades mid-on as it makes its way to the ropes.
Babar moves onto 40.
