I'm surprised Stokes hasn't given Rehan a chance yet.

Babar 29, Shakeel 43
Four more to the impressive left-hander Saud Shakeel. Pakistan's lead stretches to 82 and the partnership 78.
Are England still on top?

Best cricketing moment of the year for me is less obvious, Foakes getting to his 100 at Old Trafford. He's been a favourite player of mine for a while and has constantly been overlooked and so unlucky with injuries/illness/selection in his England career. I was there that day and his joy was just infectious to all!
Tom, Hants
No joy in this over with Babar blocking out a maiden.
Let's have some more favourite moment suggestions...

Stokes has got one wicket in the series and it was Babar.
Lead by 76
I mused whether England would struggle to chase over 200 a little earlier but now Saud Shakeel and Babar Azam are in it looks much easier to bat.
Shakeel whips one excellently over mid-wicket off Leach.
There's half a chance of a run-out later in the over but Rehan Ahmed doesn't take it cleanly. After that the chance was gone.

It was just a little too full and wide from Stokes.
Stokes is driven to the boundary again by Babar Azam. The England skipper has got to bowl full to try and find some reverse swing but if the ball doesn't move off straight then it could be an expensive ploy.
We still haven't seen Rehan Ahmed bowl today.

My highlight of the year is the creation of the 'Nighthawk' role for Stuart Broad. Whilst it may seem frivolous, it illustrates the coaching genius of Brendan McCullum, where he identifies what really makes a player tick. Another example of this is ensuring that Jonny Bairstow now feels fully included in the team.

These two have batted a lot together in this series. Saud Shakeel, who hadn't played a Test, beforehand has been really impressive.
How many would England not want to chase on this? 200?
Babar 22, Shakeel 32
Almost. A ball from Ben Stokes stays low and Babar Azam has to jab his bat down on it. That said it was a no-ball from Stokes so it'd have been even more frustrating had Babar been hit on the pad.
The Pakistan captain is far more comfortable at the end of the over, driving Stokes through the covers. England's all-rounder has a word or two.

Best cricketing moment of the year was the T20 finals day going to the absolute wire - final ball chaos! Meant double the fireworks and celebrations. Never seen anything like it before, and won't again! It was cricket's version of Aguerooooo!

England's fielders yelp as Saud Shakeel drives Jack Leach through the air. It was pretty safe - wide of Ollie Robinson at mid-off.
Keep suggestions of your moments of 2022 coming.

Pakistan will be looking to wear down England's bowlers and build their lead. There are plenty of gaps for Shakeel to hit into and that's the difference with the mindset of both teams.
It has been a tidy start from Ben Stokes although there's no obvious sign of swing.

Stokes is the type of bowler that will bowl seven or eight overs to give his bowlers a rest.
He is bowling it a bit fuller to see if they can get any reverse swing.

Along a similar theme to Graeme, I'd throw in Joe Root's scoop - The Roop - off Tim Southee at Trent Bridge too.
An incredible shot that sums up the summer.

Root's match-winning century in the second innings at Lord's. The rest of the summer was joyous, but that was a wonderful moment as Root was able to deliver the win he so desperately wanted for the team. His post-match interview brought a tear to my eye as he spoke with such relief and happiness, and such selflessness.
Graeme Smith, Horsham
Babar 17, Shakeel 28
The trumpeter is now playing Gold by Spandau Ballet.
"You've got the power to know. You're indestructible..." the England fans sing to their captain. Can he muster a bit of magic in this spell to break this partnership? It has been a good fightback from Pakistan since Jack Leach took three quick wickets in the morning session. Leach was on a hat-trick at one stage.

Ben Stokes actually opened the bowling in the second innings in Rawalpindi.
England have bowled in six innings this series and have had five different opening bowling pairs.
The only repeated opening pair is Ollie Robinson and Jack Leach, who opened the bowling in both innings in Multan.
