England are looking for a result every game, they're not thinking about draws. The mindset of both the Pakistan coach and the captain is different whereas Stokes and Brendon think the same. We've not seen Babar do anything outside the box this series.

    Need 42 runs to win

You won't be surprised to hear that Brendon McCullum is looking very relaxed on the England balcony, sharing a joke with Ollie Robinson.

Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes are looking equally relaxed out in the middle as they share a couple of singles to edge England ever closer.

It seems only the night shift workers, ex-pats and die hards are up for this one.

Perhaps you have a message for Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum after what has been a very special six months?

Pitches in the PSL are not as slow as we've seen here. They come on to the bat nicely and have a good bounce.

I'm pleased with the way the teams have adjusted on these slow pitches.

    Target 167

Don't forget no team has ever beaten Pakistan 3-0 in Pakistan. This would be a historic victory to end a remarkable year.

The first boundary of the day...

Stokes muscles seamer Mohammad Wasim off a length in one-day mode.

Remember Stokes is one six off breaking Brendon McCullum's record for most sixes in Tests.

    Duckett 51, Stokes 11

There are some people in the ground but it's mostly just the 200 or so England fans who belt out Jerusalem. They'll be able to rest their voices until England's next men's tour in February after this.

The first over is a surprisingly calm one.

What has impressed me with this squad is how aggressive they are with the batters. To bowl a team out for the ninth consecutive is amazing.

  12. Showman Ahmed the real deal - Agnewpublished at 04:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

Rehan Ahmed's performance in taking 5-48 on the third day of England's final Test against Pakistan was remarkable.

He is 18 years old and in only his fourth first-class match. I know just how inexperienced and raw I felt after so few matches.

It is now England's job to protect him, to make sure he doesn't get put in situations that will dent his confidence.

I don't think we will see him against Australia next summer - England will want the control offered by Jack Leach - but we can already pencil Ahmed in for the tour of India in early 2024.

Either way, it's absolutely fine for England fans to get excited about him. He looks like the real deal.

Day three was another thrilling day for this England team.

At one stage they looked to have been pushed onto the back foot but once again came out on top.

This time is was an 18-year-old leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, perhaps the most Bazbally moments of them all, who made the difference.

He took 5-48 to become the youngest man to take a five-wicket haul on debut.

England then charged in pursuit of 167, desperate to win this match last night. Ultimately the light prevented them but it wasn't for lack of effort.

    It has been some ride.

This journey all started on 2 June, six months ago when we all had no idea what to expect.

This morning England will finish off their final Test of the year.

They need another 55 runs to win with eight wickets left. It might not take long.
