Harry Brook can do no wrong.

    Alex Haworth

I've literally just woken up to see Harry Brook get Kane Williamson. I'm going to wake up for real now.

Very good keeping from Ben Foakes down the leg side, of course. He went for the stumping as well to cover that option off, too.

    INCREDIBLE!

Harry Brook has a grin as big as a Cheshire cat after the technology shows there is a tiny bit of bat on this.

Kane Williamson is on his way. He can hardly believe it. It's a nothing delivery drifting down leg side and New Zealand's all-time leading run-scorer attempts to work it away off his pads, only to get a feather on it off the face.

Well done to Ben Stokes for having the guts to go for a review which, in truth, looked more in hope than expectation.

Hello, what's happened here. Harry Brook has talked himself into a review.

Has Kane Williamson been strangled down the leg side?

  5. NZ 455-5published at 151.5 overs

Jack Brook is playfully flicking the ball from hand to hand at the top of his mark. He's relishing this rare opportunity to bowl.

He, ahem, 'bangs' on into the pitch prompting Kane Williamson attempt an uppercut which he misses.

Can I thank New Zealand for regaining my trust in Test match cricket. From thinking it was going to be another disappointing three-day match I'm now optimistic I'll have cricket to watch on day five of a Test. Almost feels normal.

    Terry, Belfast.

  7. NZ 451-5published at 151 overs

Jack Leach with a glimmer of an opportunity from his third ball when Tom Blundell skips down the pitch and gets himself into a bit of mess. The ball loops up into the air off bat and pad, but drops into the turf. Frustrating for England.

Harry Brook has eight first-class wickets, incidentally, including a best of 3-15. Just a single taken run off his second over. New Zealand not taking any risks to the part timer.

A very tough chance as Tom Blundell nails one back at Jack Leach, who stuck out a hand but was unable to cling on.

This is England's last Test of the winter. Their next assignment will a one-off Test against Ireland at Lord's at the start of June, followed by the small matter of the Ashes. New Zealand have two Tests at home to Sri Lanka to come next month.

    That was, interesting...

Military medium pace seamers from Harry Brook, off the wrong foot. He's gone for just two, collects his hat and jumper from the umpire with a chuckle.

Ben Stokes keen to not let New Zealand settle. Maybe Ben Duckett might yet get a go?!

Now then... Harry Brook into the attack. Can't admit to having seen him bowl.

Lovely to see two great players in Root and Williamson playing so well in the same game. Both superb.

  15. NZ 442-5published at 147 overs

Jack Leach completes his 54th over during this somewhat attritional period as both sides wait to see who will blink first. Kane Williamson and Tom Blundell happy to rotate strike.

    Three more to the scoreboard.

Jack Leach's bowling in this innings: 13% full, 84% good length and 2% short. 54 overs, 11 maidens, went for 141 runs, took 2 wickets with an economy of 2.61.

Don't agree with Matt R (02:47) about the follow-on decision. NZ are still only 200 odd for five in relative terms. And by enforcing the follow-on we will know the target we need, so for me gives us more control.

  17. NZ 439-5published at 146 overs

    Lead by 213

Ben Stokes is clapping and encouraging his charges, but this New Zealand look very comfortable milking Ollie Robinson for ones and twos.

A chipped drive off the final ball of Robinson's over is driven clinically by Kane Williamson to the fence for four more.

Every plan England have had has been answered. Kane Williamson is looking very hard to get out. England have gone from dominating the game, to New Zealand getting themselves in front. We could have one of those great chases from England.

  19. NZ 432-5published at 145 overs

A run off the bat and a no-ball from Jack Leach's latest over. A bit of fallow period in terms of runs and not a great deal happening with the ball.

Where's England's next wicket coming from?

Those wizards at Cricviz have been at it again. They tell us that the average speed of England's pace unit in this innings is 128.2 kph (79.7mph). That's their third-lowest in any Test innings in which ball-tracking data has been available.

The lowest is 125.87 v WI, 2nd inns, Bridgetown, 2019. Second lowest is 127.36 v West Indies, 2nd inns, North Sound, 2022.

Bridgetown Test bowling attack was James Anderson, Sam Curran and Ben Stokes. North Sound bowling attack was Chris Woakes, Craig Overton & Ben Stokes (Mark Wood bowled in the 1st inns but not in the 2nd).
