A few months ago, I would have said my favourite Kiwi cricketer was Vettori. But how can it not be Ben Stokes? I know, we’re lucky he turns out for England now. But I’m pretty sure we’re indebted to NZ for shaping his approach, sportsmanship and cricketing brain.

Jimmy Anderson, after a bit of a tiff with umpire Gaffany at the end of his last over, is staying round the wicket.

Ben Foakes is still up to the stumps, there's a leg slip in. England are going funky to try and find the breakthrough.

Jack Leach is back on and it looks like both Williamson and Blundell are going to ty and get after him.

Neither manages to do so with any great success in that over but you'd think it represents an opportunity for England. Maybe?

Before today, Kane Williamson averaged 18 against Jimmy Anderson - 162 runs and nine dismissals in 21 innings. How England want to make that 10 dismissals...

As if Jimmy wasn't already grumpy enough after the last few minutes, he oversteps for a very rare no-ball.

He ends the over around the wicket with England looking for anything that might help them break this stand and get them into the bowlers.

That chance is justification for the plan from England but Blundell is not going to stop taking on the short stuff.

Can Anderson make amends with the ball in this next over?

    NZ 345-5

Anderson is on the deck again, this time after putting down a chance at backward square leg.

Short from Robinson, pulled by Blundell and Anderson shells the catch low down.

    Frustration for England.

Not an awful lot happening for Anderson at the moment, perhaps just a hint of movement but nothing to get excited about.

The England man ends the over on the deck and looks decidedly fed up.

    Blundell 30, Williamson 64

Blundell is just going to keep taking on the short stuff and ends the over with another boundary, pulled behind square this time.

England know it only takes one mistake, New Zealand will be happy to accept all the runs that might come before that mistake.

Ollie Robinson starts from the other end, continuing with the short ball ploy.

Tom Blundell is ready for it, though, and pulls the first ball in front of square for four.

  14. NZ 327-5published at 114 overs

    Lead by 101

Ben Foakes is up to the stumps and Harry Brook is in at a catching mid-on as Anderson bowls to the two Kiwi right-handers.

A couple of singles and the lead is into three figures.

It's such a hard thing to do to win after being asked to follow-on because you're at such a disadvantage. You have to work so hard just to get back into the game.

It is interesting because if Kane Williamson does stay in and that leads gets up to 230-240, that would be a good chase.

Spectators on the outfield at lunch. Superb. You wouldn't be allowed to walk on Wembley at half-time, or into a boxing ring between rounds, would you?

Ollie Robinson has the highest release point of any bowler in the world. A short delivery stride means that he gets different bounce to any other bowler he might be playing with in this team.

His x-factor is not express pace, it's the ability to bowl in on a good length and still hit the splice of people's bats. He had Henry Nicholls in trouble leading up to that dismissal.

Robinson has deserved more than one wicket in this game so far. But there are still five up for grabs.

So far the stamina of the England bowlers has been good. None of them have bowled badly but it is just that little extra something that you sense has been lost.
