    Diamonds 106-1 v Vipers

That's another tidy over from Charlotte Taylor, with just two runs conceded.

Hollie Armitage unveils the reverse sweep and fails to connect cleanly but then starts to set off anyway and is rightly sent back by Lauren Winfield-Hill. No need for those kind of risks at this stage...

    Diamonds 104-1 v Vipers

That's just about the first false shot played by Lauren Winfield-Hill, who edges Lauren Bell past the keeper for four as the total passes 100. We're at the half-way point of the innings - what do Diamonds think is a defendable total?

    Diamonds 98-1 v Vipers

Charlotte Taylor continues to do a good job for the Vipers, winners in both 2020 and 2021. Only four runs from that one.

Laurent Winfield-Hill is 52 not out and Hollie Armitage has eight.

Lauren Winfield-Hill dabs the final ball of Lauren Bell's over onto the off-side and scampers through for a single to reach a 74-ball half-century.

It's the sixth time she has reached 50 in this season's competition and went on to make a hundred the last time - also against Vipers.

    Diamonds 90-1 v Vipers

Charlotte Taylor restricts the Diamonds to three singles in her fifth over. She has 1-19 so far.

    Diamonds 87-1 v Vipers

Seamer Lauren Bell returns for Vipers.

Lauren Winfield-Hill drives pleasantly but it's only a single. She has now scored more than 450 RHFT runs this season.

Hollie Armitage is less scure as she adds one off a thick inside edge of long leg.

    Good over that one.

    Diamonds 83-1 v Vipers

Gemma Green, BBC Radio Solent commentator

“It feels almost as if Linsey Smith is used as a buffer at the top of the order, to see off the new ball and she’s done that.

“It’s given the Diamonds a platform to build on. They’ve had three in-form batters this year and one of them is coming to the crease, Hollie Armitage.”

    Diamonds 85-1 v Vipers

Vipers have a slip in for Hollie Armitage, who is under way with a single to mid-wicket.

Laurent Winfield-Hill cuts the next away for one and advances to 46 not out.

Vipers will feel a lot better following that wicket - but they'll want to break this partnership quickly.

A tame dismissal for Linsey Smith, who comes down the pitch but doesn't really commit to a lofted drive and chips a catch back to bowler Charlotte Taylor. Skipper Hollie Armitage is in at three.

  10. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Diamonds 83-0 v Vipers

No sign of urgency from Diamonds in that one either, but the scoreboard is still ticking over. Lauren Winfield-Hill is now 45 not out and Linsey Smith has 27.

    Diamonds 78-0 v Vipers

Diamonds again content to milk ones and twos from Charlotte Taylor's latest over. Who is going to make the breakthrough for Vipers?

    Diamonds 73-0 v Vipers

Charlie Dean turns one past the outside edge of Linsey Smith's bat to start a new over but she hits the next down the ground for four.

No chances taken in the remainder of that one - but this is an excellent platform laid by the Diamonds for the likes of Hollie Armitage and Bess Heath to come.

    Diamonds 68-0 v Vipers

Decent over by Charlotte Taylor and Diamonds content themselves with four singles. Lauren Winfield-Hill is 40 not out and Linsey Smith has 19.

That stumping opportunity in Taylor's previous over is the only serious alarm so far for the Diamonds openers.

    Diamonds 64-0 v Vipers

Charlie Dean now on at the Pavilion End.

She looks a quality bowler but gives that one a little bit too much air and Linsey Smith flicks it away for a single.

The next is a classic off-break which spins between bat and pad but just misses Lauren Winfield-Hill's stumps. Unlucky.

Diamonds may be well advised to look elsewhere for a bowler to attack. Five an over from here brings them to 239 and that, you feel, is the minimum they would want.

    Diamonds 60-0 v Vipers

Henry Moeran, BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

“The Vipers, having elected to field first, will be a little concerned that they haven’t made a breakthrough.

"They really do need to break the partnership – it’s getting to the point where it gives others lower down the order the freedom to come in and play. The pressure is building a little bit.”

    Diamonds 60-0 v Vipers

Vipers continue ringing the changes. Charlotte Taylor, match-winner in the 2020 final, enters the attack.

Head up by Linsey Smith, who tries to hit over the leg-side but misses and Chloe Hill fails to gather the ball for a stumping and it runs away for two byes.

Better by Smith, who uses her feet and hammers back past the umpire - who takes rapid evasive action - for four. She is now 16 not out.

    Diamonds 53-0 v Vipers

Two overs only for Paige Scholfield - it's time for Vipers skipper Georgia Adams to turn her arm over after taking 4-35 in last year's final.

Lauren Winfield-Hill uses her feet well and collects four through wide mid-on to bring up a 50 partnership.

She is 35 not out and Linsey Smith has 12.

  18. Postpublished at 12 overs

    Diamonds 48-0 v Vipers

Linsey Smith chances her arm and goes for a lofted drive off Charlie Dean. The ball just eludes Lauren Bell, who needs a bit of treatment after an awkward landing as she dives to try and take a catch. She is ok to carry on.

There's a little bit of turn there for Dean, a bit too much from her sixth delivery, which is called a wide, and Lauren Winfield-Hill plays the next through mid-on for one to keep the strike and reach 30 not out.

Much better over by Paige Scholfield until she gifts a Lauren Winfield-Hill a full toss which is put it away for four. The next ball is a yorker but the Diamonds opener is able to dig it out and she is 29 not out.

This is the fifth meeting between Diamonds in this competition and the holders have a 3-1 winning record.

  20. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Diamonds 38-0 v Vipers

Spinner Charlie Dean gives one air and Lauren Winfield-Hill drives gloriously, but she doesn't get her reward as Georgia Adams makes a great stop at cover. A couple of singles end a good over as the batting powerplay ends.
