If Sri Lanka are going to win this, then Harshitha Madavi is going to have to do a lot of the leg work.

    That will help.

Harshitha takes a big stride forward and creams Ritu Moni through mid-wicket for four.

    Shot.

All it takes is one expensive over and it brings Sri Lanka back into the game.

  4. SL 54-3published at 11 overs

Shorna Akter, who was born in 2007 (2007!!), comes into the attack.

She struggles with her line first up though and Harshitha Madavi cracks the ball through backward point for four.

There is a bit of spice in this pitch still as Akter gets one to spit out of the surface and it clatters into the helmet grille of wicketkeeper Shamima Sultana.

The physio comes out to take a look - but she is fine to continue.

Sri Lanka are way behind where Bangladesh were at this point but it was at this stage wickets started to fall.

  7. SL 49-3published at 10 overs

There's a change of bowling and it is more seam as Ritu Moni comes into the attack. She is immediately on the money as well with a probing line outside off stump.

Sri Lanka can only push four singles to limp up to 49-3 at the halfway stage.

This is a waste. I can't see in any way this could be out. If it's out I will... eat my headset.

  12. Bangladesh reviewpublished at 8.5 overs

Bangladesh have an lbw appeal against Harshitha Madavi turned down.

The impact was way outside off stump - but Bangladesh review anyway.

    Hmmm...

A partnership is what Sri Lanka need and there's still plenty of time.

  14. dropped catch

De Silva dropped on fivepublished at 8.3 overs

Nilakshi de Silva is put down! She cuts the ball towards point but Murshida Khatun spills it diving forward.

  15. SL 41-3published at 8 overs

Harshitha Madavi is getting in the groove as she clips the ball through mid-wicket for three.

That is one of Sri Lanka's better overs so far.

  16. SL 36-3published at 7.1 overs

That's good shot from Harshitha Madavi. It is a touch full from Marufa Akter and Harshitha plays a textbook cover drive away for four.

I think we can forgive a loose delivery from Akter given what she has produced so far.

  18. SL 32-3published at 7 overs

The Bangladesh fans at Newlands are absolutely loving it right now and who can blame them.

Sri Lanka are in rebuilding mode now, nudging five singles off Nahida Akter.

The required rate is now above seven.

The worm shows Sri Lanka are 20 runs behind Bangladesh. Sri Lanka are 32 for 3 after 7 overs. At the same stage Bangladesh were 52 for 2.

Bangladesh punished the bad balls in the powerplay and Sri Lanka produced a lot of bad balls.
