  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.2 overs

    Green c Jafta b Tryon 7 (NZ 31-5)

Chloe Tryon saved South Africa with the bat - and now she's chipping in with the ball!

Maddy Green went for the reverse sweep, the ball hits her glove and loops up kindly for Sinalo Jafta to take a simple catch.

Is that that for New Zealand?

  2. NZ 31-4published at 9 overs

    Target 133

Better from New Zealand, six runs from Delmi Tucker's over of off spin.

That matches their best of the innings which rather tells the story.

  3. NZ 25-4published at 8 overs

    Devine 3, Green 3

This New Zealand pair have been batting together for a little over three overs now. They have scored three runs apiece.

I know they need to try and rebuild but with the surface getting trickier and trickier to bat on, they could do with scoring a little more quickly.

What is going on with this surface? Sophie Devine is one of the cleanest hitters in the game and cannot get bat on ball.

Speaking of Nonkululeko Mlaba bowling well. Here is her second wicket and it was the big one: Suzie Bates bowled for a duck.

  6. NZ 23-4published at 7 overs

    Target 133

Good news for New Zealand, they've got through an over from Mlaba without losing a wicket.

They taken four singles from it before the left-arm spinner attempts what appears to be a bumper to finish and it is nearly chopped onto the stumps by Devine.

Full disclosure: it may just have been a slightly quicker ball that Mlaba dragged down but given how well she's bowled, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

The South Africa supporters have really turned out in their numbers. There is a real buzz and sense of belief around the ground.

New Zealand are going to have to take some risks if the run rate starts climbing but at the same time at four down they cannot afford to.

  9. NZ 19-4published at 6 overs

    Target 133

Just a leg bye from Shabnim Ismail's over. It's fair to say New Zealand aren't really in a position to try and make the most of the last over in the powerplay.

New Zealand have used three different openers in two games.

Between them, they have contributed a grand total of no runs from six balls.

  11. NZ 18-4published at 5 overs

    Target 133

Maddy Green joins Sophie Devine in the middle with New Zealand wobbling like you wouldn't believe.

South Africa could scarcely have dreamt of a better start with the ball.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.5 overs

    A Kerr b Jafta b Khaka 10 (NZ 18-4)

Brilliant review! There is the tiniest of spikes on UltraEdge and Amelia Kerr is gone.

It wasn't a great ball from Ayabonga Khaka, it was there to be hit wide of off. Kerr did that but she just didn't get enough of it.

    New Zealand are collapsing again.

  14. South Africa reviewpublished at 4.5 overs

    NZ 18-3

Big shout from the South African fielders as Amelia Kerr slashes at a ball wide of off.

Ayabonga Khaka isn't interested but Sune Luus sends it upstairs. Big moment.

Two balls were all Nonkululeko Mlaba needed to make the initial breakthrough.

Bernadine Bezuidenhout stumped after good work from wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta.

  16. NZ 13-3published at 4 overs

    Target 133

New Zealand are three down and, finally, Sophie Devine arrives in the middle.

They've dug themselves quite the hole but if Devine gets them over the line from here we'll be talking about the decision to drop her down the order as a masterstroke.

The experiment with Plimmer at three hasn't worked for New Zealand.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.5 overs

    Plimmer c Jafta b Kapp 7 (NZ 13-3)

Edged and gone! South Africa are jubilant!

Plimmer shimmied down, Kapp saw her coming and banged it in short. It was well wide of off and the batter threw her hands at it but could only feather it behind.

    Incredible start for South Africa.

You can tell there is tension out there.

It has almost got quarter-final vibes there is so much weight on the outcome.

  20. NZ 12-2published at 3.1 overs

Top shot from Amelia Kerr. It was too full from Marizanne Kapp and Kerr drives beautifully through the covers.

A welcome boundary for New Zealand.
